I just wanted to say R.I.P. to the best music radio station I've ever heard, CKWW, (sorry CKLW), it was recently sold and the format has been changed - and not for the better.
Actually despite the on screen date, Byron died in 1995...way too early. We were also roomates at the penthouse of the Windsor Holiday Inn in '68-'69. We were also the youngest members of the CKLW staff..he 20 and I 21. It was a blast, and I have never been drunker than jan. 1 1969 when we attacked a 40 ouncer of Canadian Club, and MANY Labatt's blues after working the all night shift, and missing the party.
Yes, I know I got the date wrong on the video. But now I'm puzzled....according to this video, Hal Martin was Byron's roommate...if Jim Felton is your real name, what was your air name? CKLW was my favorite station, and I have tons and tons of airchecks from that great station!!!
Jim Felton's on-air name at CKLW was Mark Richards.He was there for just a year from mid 1968 to mid 1969 when he returned back to Toledo and WCWA. Spears most likely roomed with Byron after Jim left.
Byron must have had numerous roommates, because according to this video, Michael Spears was also his roommate! It took a couple of people to find out what your air name was, but now I know!
