Believe me when I tell you when Celine performed this live with the Bee Gees, it’s EXACTLY the same as the recording. But then, she does that with all her live performances. Genius.
This song is about losing someone you love and never saying goodbye. Loving someone so much it's immortal and last beyond death. Celine softened her voice to a whispery sound to match the BeeGees.
@@janking4645, google or RU-vid Celine Dion immortality. When Celine & The Bee Gees met face to face, they were all in awe of each other. Heartwarming.
It’s wonderful that Celine Dion is getting her flowers again these days. She has one of the most incredible voices of all time, has always been the definition of class, and has so many timeless classics like this one in her legendary global career. She chose to record elegant songs in her prime and that’s proven to be a wise move because these songs will live on forever… as will her legacy.
There are 2 other videos of this song. One is of Celine and the Bee Gees in the studio recording this song. And the other is live from the Bee Gees tour " Live in Las Vegas " in 1997.
There is also one more from, I believe in 2017, where she is singing to Barry (it was after his brother’s had passed). If I had to take a guess it was a Grammy’s tribute to The Bee Gees. It was shortly after she had lost Rene. When she descends the staircase to sing directly to Barry, it brings me to tears every single time. Every performance of this song is just so special. ❤
Their live performance is as gorgeous-- 1997 One Night Only Bee Gees concert in Las Vegas -- and Celine is luminous. that MGM audience had been blessed!! The Bee Gees and Celine are destined for music immortality.
I loved Celine singing Immortality at the Grammy's Salutes the Bee Gees. When she comes down the stairs and kneels in front of Barry and sings the song it is so powerful. Timeless song.
Brilliant Salvo. Feel the feels. The live performance with the Bee Gees is amazing. You feel the power of this song. So glad you decided to react to this song.
That's actually my first time seeing this video. Before today i had only ever seen the live version they did together at the Bee Gees "One Night Only" concert, in Vegas. Nice reaction dude. 🖖
Such a hauntingly beautiful song. Written by the Brothers Gibb (Bee Gees) I think the emotion that they put into this was a farewell to their youngest brother Andy Gibb who died at a young age so the words to this are very poignant. They wrote so many number 1 hits for other artists. This one being a big hit for Celine Dion. Thanks for the reaction. love from Australia
I loved the studio recording of this she did with the BeeGee's. It was the first time they had heard her sing it and everyone was in tears. Worth watching.
The more I here this the more I fall in love with it. There's a great short video of the making of this record which includes the song in its entirety but it so worth watching. Seeing Barry choke up and the ever humble Bee Gees be so proud of her singing the song they wrote for her. It's a beautiful thing. Warning. Once you fall for the Brothers Gibb There's no going back. Starting to adore your reactions. Please do Fanny be tender with my love, Love you inside and out, Alone, For Whom the Bell Tolls...if you get the chance grab the version in New York although the videos okay too. There's so many wonderful songs to go!😊
Please react to their live performance of it together in Vegas. You should also watch her performance of it at the Grammy’s salute to the Bee Gees but my guess is they will block you from reacting to it.
Robin and Barry wrote this song in 3 and a half minutes. This song is definitely a masterpiece. It is awesome live. I hope you do For whom the bell tolls next. Robin will blow you away.
Actually, it was Barry & Mo who wrote this beautiful song! Barry began playing the intro as Mo followed, playing the first cord. Barry would change cords & Mo would immediately follow, like he knew right where Barry was going, for 3.5 minutes.🎼
You are my favorite young reactor to music from my time. Celine Dion is one of the greatest ever! When they first went to record it, she made them all cry, especially Barry!
chills and goosebumps. That is what Celine and Bee Gees do to you. CBS I think it was did a tribute to the Bee Gees and this was beautiful and sad and you could see how taken in Barry was - Céline Dion - Immortality (Bee Gees Tribute 2017) Full Performance
Celine always sounded to me like the female BeeGee, especially when she was singing with them. You can always tell the sound of a Bee Gee written song. I adore the Bee Gees too. I cried when I heard Maurice aka Mo died. Have you reacted to Andy? "Love is Thicker Than Water' was a hit Andy had, or: "(Our Love) Don't Throw It All Away". React to the BGs: "Spirits Having Flown", from the album of the same name. Try to get the video of their performing it at Barry's Miami mansion on the water.. And in 1993, the Bee Gees had a hit with: "Paying the Price of Love". Try to get the video of their performing outside by a hotel pool. 🙂RIP Mo, Robin & Andy. You're deeply missed. xxx
Great reaction to a beautiful song. The video of them recording it with Celine is so beautiful. They get so emotional hearing her sing it gor the first time. ❤
My favourite female singer is Celine! What a gift she has been given & what a blessing that she share’s it with us! Once in a lifetime experience. Love your emotional response & your reactions.
There is a reason I have claimed since middle school that Celine Dion is my favorite female vocalist. I bought that album in 1997 when it came out, the first CD I ever bought for myself. And I have been blessed enough to see her live once, right before the pandemic. She truly is a magical performer.
What's great about the BeeGees is that they also write according to the singer's vocal strength. Like they wrote this specifically for Celine Dion so the melodies and bridge fit her voice to a T. I agree with the other comments here that the Live version is more emotional to watch.
I'm losing track of what you've heard now. The Bee Gees were so unselfish, they wrote many songs with other singers in mind. You need to hear the wonderful Diana Ross singing "Chain Reaction". You'll love it!
Another great reaction vid! I tend to "shed a tear" vicariously, so when I see and honest reaction like this one, I tend to join in. Nothing wrong with that, bud. Keep it up!
You've got to react to Dionne Warwick's "Heartbreaker", written, produced and background vocals by Bee Gees. It is stellar! There really isn't a decent video for it so I'd recommend the album version.
Please watch the making of. Gorgeous to see Maurice reaching for tissues and Barry trying not to tear up. These lads were always the best. Funny moments of the Bee Gees parts 1,2 and 3 are a hoot. They could have been great comedians too. Oh, and they've created all this beautiful music and can't read or write music.
I just watched your Celine&Barbra reaction and it brought me here...Man...aren't those 2 songs simply timeless and beautiful? Thank you for your Celine reactions 🫶🙏
I adore the BeeGees too. As a matter-of-fact, I have adored them for 50 years. As I graduated from high school in 1979, I am a disco kind of girl!!!! The brothers Gibb are the best.❤
You should checkout the behind the scenes of the studio recording for this song! Barry was in tears hearing her sing! They wrote this song specifically for her, hoping that she'd sing it!
Great reaction. You need to listen to her live performances - she is one of the rare artists that are even better live. Her studio recording sessions are awesome as well - here I would recommend "The Reason" produced by Sir George Martin and written by Carole King. Or Mr Paganini, which is more Jazz. She has such a huge and diverse catalogue. Please more Celine!
Another great one is Celine Dion and Barbra Streisand’s duet Tell Him! Celine talks about Barbra being her idol and how amazing it is for her to be able to sing a duet with her! The video shows them rehearsing and is cute and funny!
I saw the Bergers in concert in 1974. It was amazing. I can appreciate your love of their work. Thank you for your heartwarming reactions. Also like how you feature some great Acadian artists.
Love your Bee Gee reactions The Bee Gees were more than just disco! You said you wanted to do more from their non-disco era…here’s a list of songs I like and my interpretation of where they fall. Just disregard the ones you’ve already reacted to: Too Much Heaven (R&B) How Deep Is Your Love (R&B Ballard) Staying Alive (disco) Night Fever (disco) You Should Be Dancing (R&B or disco) Fanny be tender with my love (R&B) Jive Talking (R&B) Nights on Broadway (R&B/Funk) Tragedy (Techno? Pop) More than a woman (Disco/R&B) Love you inside out (Funk/pop) To love somebody (R&B) Massachusetts (pop/country) Wind of Change (funk/r&b), live 1975 from the Midnight Special) Alone (pop) Love So Right (R&B) Words (pop, 1979 Spirits Tour) Lonely Days (pop) You Win Again (pop) Run to Me (pop) How Can you mend a broken heart (R&B) Kiss of Life (rock) One (pop) Wedding Day (pop) Rest Your Love on Me Awhile (country) Bodyguard (R&B) Blue Island - live (pop) Our Love, Don't Throw it all away-Bee Gee's or Andy's version (pop) Secret Love (pop) This is Where I Came in (live) (pop) The 1989 One for all tour medley (excellent vocals & some humor) If you want to see them (the Bee Gees) and how they work in the studio try: (A) the making of their song "Tragedy" from 1979 (B) The making of the song "Just in Case" (C) The making of the video "This is Where I Came in" from their last cd in 2001 Some that only the avid Bee Gee fans might know that you might want to react to: My Lover’s Prayer (pop ballard) Letting Go (pop ballard) Subway (R&B) You Stepped Into My life (Funk/r&b) Children of the World (pop) Search, Find (pop or R&B) Songs written by Barry Gibb (that other artists sung), alone or with his brothers (Robin &!Maurice Gibb): If I Can't Have You (Yvonne Elliman) Woman in Love ( Barbra Streisand). In fact, Gibb wrote every song on her Guilty CD, and did 2 duets with her. And he did most of the background vocals on a lot of the songs. Islands in the Stream (Kenny Rogers & Dolly Partons). In fact, Barry wrote all the songs on Kenny's "Eyes that See in the Dark" CD Heartbreaker (Deion Warwick). In fact, Barry wrote every song on this CD too. The Bee Gees also did the Background vocals. Chain Reaction (Diana Ross) and yes, Barry wrote all the songs on this CD too. Barry also did the background vocals. Immortality (Celine Dion) The Bee Gees also sung background. The live 1997 from Vegas is excellent! More Than a Woman (Tavares) Love Me (Yvonne Elliman) Come on Over (Olivia Newton John) Emotions (Samantha Sang, with a lot of background vocals with Barry). Destiny's Child also recorded it. Grease--from the movie (Frankie Valli) Heart Beating in Time (Leo Sayer) Let me wake up in your arms (Lulu), who use to be married to Maurice Gibb A lot of Andy Gibb songs (Shadow Dancing, Everlasting Love, Love is Thicker than Water, Our Love, Don't Throw It Away; Desire;)
Sandra, this is a nice starter list. Thank you. I am new to this channel and am seeing these comments for the first time. Barry wrote some of these songs with Bee Gees collaboraters. The good majority of these songs were written by all 3 brothers together with occassionally one or the other brother working with Barry. Some songs were written by the twins Robin and Maurice. Barry is an excellent song writers but so are Robin and Maurice. They were also a trio and when the 3 worked together that is when the true magic happened.
On your next BeeGees video, you have got to do for Don't Throw It All Away (Our Love), the Live version where they sang this as a tribute to their youngest brother who died ahead of them. The song was originally sung by him, written by Barry. It's such a beautiful tribute! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--XKPU1MHASU.htmlsi=MMtCGNhADCZFCf-z
Nice! However, more Bee Gees on their own, please - much more! Early - very R&B sound: To Love Somebody - '60s video Massachusetts - live from One for All tour 1989 should be the one here I've Gotta Get a Message to You Words Holiday 70s had the disco and two requisites you've heard How Deep is Your Love, and Too Much Heaven, but there were some killer R&B songs in that decade too: * Fanny (Be Tender with My Love) must hear if nothing else. Do a good audio version as they never sang it live Nights On Broadway - Midnight Special version Run to Me Jive Talkin' How Can You Mend a Broken Heart Then there are some fantastic songs in the 90s too: Alone - official video For Whom the Bell Tolls - video filmed in NY You Win Again (1987 actually, but a GREAT song) official video Sampling to get you started on their career. :)
I am embarrassed to admit that when this song came out, I didn’t pay much attention to it - I was sort of like, oh, another pretty power ballad from Celine, that’s nice. I didn’t even know the Bee Gees wrote it. I only rediscovered it and truly listened to it recently and my reaction was like yours - it blew my mind. The lyrics penetrate your soul, especially if you’ve experienced the pain of losing a loved one. Kudos to the brothers Gibb for their songwriting genius, and to Celine for the otherworldly beauty of her voice.
@@kthor Indeed, it is credited to the Bee Gees. The actual copyright line for this song that appears on the official sheet music is (c) 1997 by Gibb Brothers Music and the songwriting credit is “Words and Music by Barry Gibb, Robin Gibb, and Maurice Gibb.” There is no musical source that indicates otherwise, so can we ask where are you getting your information from?
@@Buffbino I've seen Robin's fans say it was written by Robin & Barry in 3.5 minutes, which I'd never heard before. I thought WOW, that's incredible, so looked into it! Well, it was written in that time, but not by Robin & Barry, but Barry & Mo! Guess some will say anything to try & convince those who don't know.🤨
@@kthor I agree that we fans owe it to these three talented men to correct inaccuracies about their legacy. 🙂 But that's why I'm curious about your source of information. I've also read that the song was written in less than four minutes (amazing!) on the Smooth Radio website, but that site mentioned all three brothers. There's also a nice interview clip with Celine Dion from Live at the BBC where she speaks about the brothers writing for her and sending her their demo tape. The brothers usually collaborated on all their songwriting, whether one contributed more in lyrics vs. instrumentation for a particular piece. Where did you read that only Barry & Mo wrote "Immortality" and Robin was not involved, because I never read that anywhere?
@@BuffbinoI believe it was when they were working on other music for the day and Robin had left for the day. Barry and Mo were still there along with others and I believe it was John Merchant who told about it if I remember correctly. Robin may have been credited too because he had been there working on other music that day.
