This video has a few misinterpretations I'll fix in episode 02, kindly reviewed by Jason Lim from Instruo. @07:12 "White Shift Enables PWM cross modulation." This might be an error in interpretation: The index amplitude control does influence PWM depth of the INDEX controlled sine wave amplitudes, but it is not accessed via the INDEX button in any way. It is top level via the MOD button. (page 22 in the manual) @09:55 Pulse out: The last production run which occurred in the past two years of various modules had jack backlighting removed from assembly. The specific reverse gullwing mount LEDs were out of production and one part completely discontinued unfortunately. Victims of the still ongoing semiconductor shortage. @11:48 Pitch Cross Modulation "...Two VCA's that can have their pitch disturbed either by eachother, or by external CV. The FM bus controls how much." This is not strictly true. The INDEX bus affects the amplitudes of internal branches of each oscillators' sine wave signal. It's attenuation occurs before routed normalisation to the opposite oscillator's FM input jacks. The INDEX bus control will not affect amplitudes of incoming external modulation signals.

Have had this oscillator for years, preordered from Jason himself! Admittedly today was the day I finally wrapped my head around the modulation matrix, past the simple FM knobs. I had read the manuals, quick starts, even watched his video where he explains it in depth several times, but the eureka moment was your illustrations- and now its simple to me. His illustrations make sense now that I understood it through yours, to be fair, haha. THANK YOU for your excellent work!!

You have my attention (I mean, you always have my attention, but still). I've been building out an "Instruo-forward" case. At this point I'm just missing a few things (Lion, Larachd, Scion, need to re-acquire Arbhar). Been enjoying it for sure. But long before I started building it out, I had Cs-L. If I were forced to just live with a single module and a pair of headphones for awhile, it'd be Cs-L. I've had it for several years and I still find new sounds constantly. It's the first module I turn to when I want to introduce my non-synth friends to the joys of Eurorack. I encourage them to just turn the knobs and listen, and it's fun to watch their faces as that thing rips, snarls, and sings. Looking forward to the rest of this series.

Nice video. I love my Cs-l, it’s sounds so good but sometimes it’s really to complex for me. I hope I can understand it better after your video series. Thank you for your magnificent job.

You make really really great videos, this one however is even better than usual I think. Particularly appreciate and admire all the effort you put into the graphics and text. I use Harmonaigh with Bloom and Steppy as my sequencer. Love how easy and simple Harmonaigh is to use and suche has been drooling a bit over these oscillators, but now think "no thanks" as this seems to complex for me. Regarding attenuation, I use the WMD Atten outside my case as it uses no power. Thought about making a small case with unpowered modules, like lpg, mults etc.. Anyway, thanks.

Good timing, i recently bought a CSL but so far did not get any further than make a lot of "everything modulates everything" noise.

One day, maybe. Or maybe not- I’ve been a bit wary of Instruo since the Arbhar experience. Great video though- if this doesn’t sell it, nothing will!

My Arbar doesn't always start up completely. Lights on, but no sound goes in or out. I have bought a soft start module, maybe it's a power thing. Also undo is weird, when you have a 'auto loaded sound' (first after startup), the first undo of a recording goes to 'empty', instead of reverting to the auto loaded sound. It seems you can only undo to a recording. Another weird thing is I can sometimes have two buffers active at the same time! The intensity plays an 'old' buffer and strike the just recorded one. Not sure which version I have, but I have a 'non blinking pulse out', and it doesn't record when sense is all the way down (which is good).
