My brain associates the sound of the engines to airborne operations. As soon as we heard these we knew we’d have to get up, waddle over to the plane with everything on us, and get tightly packed into it. Immediately after hearing this sound my adrenaline shot up.

My dad worked at Lockheed as an electrical engineer on the C-130 project and was in the group that designed the electrical workings of the cockpit.

MLMLW I had the pleasure of working with Lockheed engineers as a Raytheon engineer on the Patriot missile launcher which was designed by Lockheed.

My boyfriend was pilot in the military. He's flew the fighter jet and Lockheed C-130 Hercules. He said Hercules is good airplane. I like Hercules.

I worked the last of the "H" models to be delivered while other crews worked the early "J"s and I referred to them derisively as "weed whackers" because of the slight hissing sound at ground idle. I hardly notice it now, and I sure don't miss the heavy exhaust smell of the oldies.

You know why he's knocking out the chock with another chock ? He didn't do the correct pre- refuelling checks. You never refuel with the chocks fully in.

LOL these engines are NOT quiet in the slightest. I work construction and while i was out in the field i had the opportunity to be at CFB Winnipeg on a lot of mornings. Got to see these things start up and take off from very close up. I absolutely love the moment the APU finishes spinning them up enough to start them and switch to internal power. You can KIND of see it in this video, but you definitely do not get to feel the apron, or your chest vibrating when they did. Sigh I miss those days.

Road Racer, not even a little! Male and female officers of the Armed Forces and Coast Guard are evaluated on their behavior among many other things. My battalion commander told us at an officer's call that anybody caught having inappropriate relationships with women would be written up and asked to leave the U.S. Army. High price to pay for a little hanky panky.
