Hey guys, back with another WORLD RECORD speedrun!
When I started speedruning I honestly thought that there was no way I would be able to beat the previous world record for this run. It's a tough mission. Nod create a large amount of infantry and armour to attack your base from the outset. They then create more - especially aircraft - when you begin progressing into the rings of the base. The pushback is extreme, which is further followed by Vertigo bombers taking either your base or units apart.
The easiest approach for the mission is therefore to turtle (stay in your base and build) - but that's not how we do things here!
The most effective way to counter their aggression is with snipers and a Commando for the infantry, with supressing fire from the Juggernauts to slow them down. You can then also use the Juggernauts alongside your own armour to takle their armour.
The Juggernauts are picked up by breaking the perimiter of the crater with Zone Troopers. The Zone Troppers can then be used to take out the power and destroy parts of the base before Nod pumps out its units, AND giving the ones that it does the run-around for a bit. (This also keeps that Avatar in the base whilst you Tech for the Commando.)
A heavy push into the base is then required, killing that single Avatar with the Commando for the Secondary Objective. He can then bait the sitting enemy units into trying to kill him whilst your others annihilate them.
The Commando then needs to level up and to heal up in order to jetpack into the rear of the Nod base, past the Obelisks, in order to take the structures down - which he can do if he avoids the venoms! I found it really satisfying to level the base with him!
...Unfortunately on this attempt his inclination for derpy-ness killed him. :P
The rest is fairly straight-forward. I built a barracks in the Nod base for speed, and was able to capture the mutant hovel without resistance.
Time to Ion Cannon that structure guys. What's the worst that could happen?
