A Huge Thank you to @ForgottenWeapons and @TNVCINC for putting on such a phinominal match at the Excellent Echo Valley Training Center. This was a great match with great stages, great people, and a great prize table. It was awesome to finally meet @Hop @BrassFacts & Luke (who has beautiful hair). I walked away with knowledge and a smile. What else does one really need?
Thank you for setting up this match, Ian. I wanted to come up and talk with you, but you never seemed to not be running around lol maybe for Finnish Brutality.
Saw that Brass Facts cameo right at the beginning. Looks like a ton of fun man. Great job! 2024 purchase goals… WP bino’s and a 640 thermal. You’ll own the night with those two.
Thank you for this vid. It's refreshing and motivating to see someone compete with a monocular and no LAM. As a new father with limited budget, getting into NV is daunting to me as a newbie when I see +10k NV setups. In no way am I trying to belittle your gear. It just reinforces the fact that hard work and practice can get a person very far.
Thank you kindly. Imagine if I really trained at all how much better I'd of been? Or it I actually lubricated my rifle and didn't overload my mags?!? I know precisely where you are man. You can easily find yourself a full kit under $3k.
Also on that stage 3 hesco house, I also have to give props to the RSO on that stage, clear concise instructions and it was very easy to move through there with him right on you. I found the shooting indoors very easy after I starting using the rear aperature as my sight system through my PVS14 after I bumped the stock out
Worst part of the match was hiking all the way up the hill from the long range stage, in the rain, with cars trying to run us over. Nothing else came close
You are correct. My o course stage you can tell was obscured by people not shutting theirs headlights off. The rso yelled at them a few times but people couldn't be bothered
Otherwise the match absolutely rocked. I had a ton of fun; when I did well I felt like an action hero. When I did poorly, I learned. If they have another one of these in the Southwest I’ll be there! I didn’t get to meet you but hopefully some other time! Congrats on the kid, by the way!
I know you missed one paper target on the "meth House" shoothouse stage. The barrels at the end of the long hallway there was a paper target to the left behind the barrels from what I remember. I can't remember any other specific targets that you missed, but based off the penalties accrued there was at least one more. On the obstacle course stage I also had a spent casing bounce back into my action causing a nasty malfunction. I was there on the second night so it was clear but cold and windy. So my numb fingers were trying to lock the action open and clear the jammed brass out. Went slower than it should have.
Sob........ I need binos, That's the final straw! I'll take my middle of the road placement with pride. Yeah man. If they designed that stage like that on purpose, then the stage designers are more devious then I had first imagined.
I think the jcomp is underrated in its performance to price. Unless you are running a muffler there is no other muzzle device I can argue is better. Maybe if you are min/max for specific extreme things?
I made a video testing different muzzle devices. Even if your looking for a muzzle device that does one thing better it won't be by much. I think the 2A 3T is a bit better all round. But it's over double the price of the J comp.
Even with the weather that looked like a blast. If you have the time in the future for a vid, I for one would like to know about your armor choices and how you stand on the NVG vs Thermal debate. Getting both for normal working folks isnt a player due to cost and if you want to stay married, if you had to choose what side would you fall on?
Camera man must be using L3 tubes. I personally love the almost gray scale look that some of the L3 tubes have. My tube has the slightest blue tint but when you look through them it all just looks black and white basically. I find that my brain tries to add color to the image when im looking through them.
How long have you had that ruger rifle? Years ago I sold one to a guy in New York with that exact coloration, he said he wanted to shoot it suppressed but they are hard to find up there
Question: I purchased the Athlon Optics Helos BTR Gen 2 Rifle Scope on your recommendation. What is a light and high quality mount or mounts for this scope and a $3300 16” AR? I’m thinking 1.9” hight and maybe add a red dot as well.
