Why. Although it is silly, at least I can see logic behind it. My .308 7600 can discharge rounds pretty damn quick with good target re-acquisition between shots. (You are simultaneously reacquiring the target and cycling the rifle. Not something you can do with a single shot bolt action.) You wanna talk silly laws, lets talk about appearance laws. Edit: Or laws prohibiting bull-pup long arms. And laws classifying/defining anything that can be aimed and discharge a projectile that can cause ‘harm’ as a firearm. Or suppressors being classified as a prohibited item. Or legislation within the law that is so ambiguous and poorly defined that it can be interpreted as classifying a detachable box magazine as a ‘critical component’ and therefore, a firearm in itself and as such, is subject to the same law as a complete firearm. Ie; you cannot keep a magazine loaded even if it is locked in safe storage. (It should be separately stored in a safe storage but I see no problem with it being loaded. Just as the bolt should be able to be left in the firearm, if one chooses to do so.) But alas. As these are the laws, as silly as they are, we must comply with them until such time that common sense prevails. (Loooong time away... lol.)

I thought that i had found what i was looking for until i saw that unlike other straight pull shotguns, this one requires the extra action of a straight pull followed by a straight push to reload it.
I think a K31 "keg" style bolt handle would be great for a weapon like this, whether it's on the right or left it wouldn't really be that much in the way and would probably be faster to operate, especially when the bolt handle is operated by the shooting hand like at 8:24. Put a rifled barrel on the bad boy, load it with slugs and you have a sniper! (sort of).
not just breaching, there is youtube video showing US military practising CQB with the m26 shotgun ! also another where a officer describes the use for the military either as, attached to your rifle or slung over your shoulder, once you enter a builder you would switch to the shotgun
