Another great video. I appreciate you showing us what you are doing. I have my speedo/tach assembly out right now and just installed the new padding for it and also new padding on the passenger side. I know what a nightmare getting those pieces out and back in can be. bless you...

Thanks for watching. Good luck with your dash installation. It's a good thing we love our cars. LOL

Taking the steering column out makes it much easier. The column is very easy to remove and replace.

Yes, that was the last time I removed the interior without removing the steering column.

Electrical stuff! Ugh.....quite the endeavor you're tackling. Pretty cool....looking forward to some updates on the project! Anyways, I was thinking on one of your last videos of how to handle the tape issue: stick one end to a table or chair and open/peel it out several feet and just cut it into several pieces at once and sticking the end of each cut piece to a string or board or something, then when you just need one piece, you can just pull it off immediately and not worry about peeling/cutting one little piece at a time.

@timewiththedurbins 3 года назад
That's a good idea on the tape. I will have to try that next time. The electrical on these cars is not too bad. Not like the new cars with all the computers and sensors and stuff. Thanks for your comments. I'm glad you like the videos.

GREAT video. Thank you! I notice that you removed your trim tag on the driver side door jamb, what did you use to reattach? Wasn't sure if it was special hardware or basic rivet.
@timewiththedurbins
@timewiththedurbins Месяц назад
Unfortunately, the trim tag was missing from the car when I purchased it. I am going to buy a new blank tag and stamp it with the correct codes for my car. I will use stainless steel pop rivets to mount the plate.

Thanks for the info. This helps me with my 71 project. I decided to go with LED dash lights. Anyone know if there’s an LED source or kit for the other lights?
@timewiththedurbins
@timewiththedurbins 2 года назад
Glad I could help. I don't have LED lights on my car so I'm not sure where to source them. I would check Ebay or Amazon. I have heard there are issues installing LEDs in place of regular bulbs on some vehicles so you might want to do some research before you make a purchase. Thanks for watching our channel.

Would you please list the 3M primer name and any other products you use. Extremely helpful when looking for this stuff
@timewiththedurbins
@timewiththedurbins 2 года назад
The 3m primer is part #08681 and the Black weatherstrip adhesive is 3m, part #08008. I purchased mine from Ebay. Thanks for watching the channel and have a great day.

I can't locate a 1975 tach cable for my car. Also, my speedometer comes with two cables (upper/lower) however I found one that is 72" long. Are the tach and speedometer cables the same? Can I use one long speedometer cable instead of the upper/lower cbales? Thanks!
@timewiththedurbins
@timewiththedurbins Год назад
First off, the speedo and tach cables are not the same. If your car has a mechanical tach you can purchase a new tach cable at just about any Corvette parts supply company. I bought mine from Ecklers. The only time you need the 2 piece speedo cable is if your car has cruise control. If not, you can use the one piece cable.

Hi, I was just watching how you installed the B pillar weatherstrip. This is incorrect, there is normally a stainless steel weatherstrip retainer that is riveted to the B pillar using the top two holes. The leading edge of the weatherstrip fits into a slot in the stainless retainer, the back side of the weatherstrip is also bonded to the retainer. The hole in the bottom of the weatherstrip is used to rivet it to the bottom hole in the B pillar. I have tried to attach a picture of this but RU-vid will not allow it. Regards Brad

Thanks for the information. I was not aware there was supposed to be a stainless steel retainer. I will have to correct it. Thanks again.

Brad Howard replied: "The retainer also finishes the area off by filling the gap between the front edge of the weatherstrip and the interior trim piece. Keep up the good work. Brad" 1 day ago I copied your above comment because for some reason it shows up in my alerts but not in the comment section of the video. I am by no means an expert on c3 corvettes, (but I do love working on them) so I appreciate any input. I found the parts in Ecklers catalog. They show the part in black or chrome. It looks like the early c3s like mine use the chrome part and the later c3s use the black part. Is that correct? Thanks again for your assistance.

That's right Mark, yours would use polished stainless retainers. I'm not sure if the replacements the venders sell are stainless or chrome plated steel. RU-vid will not allow me to attach a picture of this area on my 71. Are you on messenger? If so I will forward a picture.

Any chance you could provide the part number for the 3m primer please

The primer is 3M #08681. I bought mine on ebay in November of 2021 for $35.00. I'm sure it has gone up since then.

Where did you order the bulb kit? I have a 1971 Vette as well in Hampton Blue with the base 350.
@timewiththedurbins
@timewiththedurbins 3 года назад
I ordered the bulb kit along with a bunch of other parts from Corvette Generation. They are located in Dade City Florida (about an hour south of me). Their phone number is: 352-523-0900. Wally is a great guy and has or can get just about anything you would need for a C3 or C4 corvette.

Thanks. Have fun with your 71. I was finally able to take mine for a drive a couple of days ago. I still have some things to do to it.
