Thanks a ton for making this. Just got finished adjusting the covers on mine after watching this. They are still a little off but better than they were no doubt.
This is super helpful for me. My headlights live in the up position until I spring for the electric actuators because all the vacuum has been gutted by some PO. But the top edge of the cover impacts the body during actuation- gotta adjust that. But never really knew how to. Now I do 👍
Great! Happy to help. The hinge bolts are the KEY to the fit. It took me a while to get it right, especially having to reach around the frame and access the bolt heads. It’s a PITA, but once it’s set, you’re good. If the door is hitting on the way up, it needs to be moved up (vertically) and might also need to move forward, towards the front. Good luck!
Thanks for posting, I need to adjust mine on my '73" Looks like you've got a seamless one piece front clip. You may regret that if you get a small tap.
@@thedrivewayC3 My mistake, sorry, I didn't realize the car was a 71. Since the chrome bumpers were removed. I thought it was a latter year. The vents in the fenders would have given it away. Along with the turn signals.
I’m doing that right now before paint, like you my doors aren’t original to the front clip. I bought some wood shims that you use for doors and windows to even out the gaps. I’ll set them up and pull them out for paint.
Yeah, using shims is a good idea. Wish I could have set these before paint, but I’m buying and restoring parts at different times and spread out all over my yard and home! It’s not ideal, but it will get done. Good luck with your project. I’ll be posting more on the vacuum system as I rebuild it. I have all new hoses and actuators.
It’s really difficult to shoot video in that small space. This channel is more of a vlog, rather than a “how to” channel. If you watch a few of my other videos on the headlight assembly, you can see where they get adjusted. Some other people have good videos on the subject too. That’s how I learned.
