If you like options the 6 is great. If you like simplicity the 5 is better. Also the steel frame is best for track time as it can be fixed. The aluminum is totaled. The C5 also looks better. The 6 electronics can be a mess if they being to go wrong. The 6 is better to drive the 5 is better to work on. They both have points of value just depending on what you need or want.
NIce video! I was all for the C5 and my intention was to get one next year after i save up for a healthy deposit until i starting comparing it to the C6. Although I love the pop-up headlights on the C5, the interior is much nicer on the C6 and i just found out the C6's exterior pays homage to the C2 which blew my mind. I love the rear end of the C6 better than the C5, especially with the round taillights compare to the elliptical ones on the C5. My savings plan will give me about a $5k deposit by September 2023 and I'll be cherry picking a 2008-2009 C6 Base Coupe, manual, non Z51. Hopefully one or two owner and bone stock with maintenance records. I keep my own records on all my cars ive ever owned and it shows me that a person cares as much as i do about keeping the car running as good as it can be. The stock exhaust on the C6 sounds good enough, especially with the NPP option.
The C6 addressed 100 points to correct found in the C5. Far less electronic gremlins than in the C5. Sold two C5’s to purchase a 2009 LS3. Both are excellent generations but the C6 is more refined than a C5. Just as a C7 is over a C6. Take care of regular maintenance and all is good.
Great 2012 Grand Sport CE, the Carbon Flash paint is really nice. One of the reason purchased a GS/CE too. Put 2012 ZR1 Cup wheels/tires on, super grip at the motor sports park, Bowling Green, KY. Owned for several years, only one issue, AC high pressure switch, easy fix.
You made this 5 days after buying the optioned-out C6. It would be interesting to get your take now, 3 years later, after the "new car rapture" wore off.
C5 & C6 are very similar cars. Rear ends look very similar, interiors is the same basic layout with only minimal improvements. The biggest difference between C5 and C6 is the headlights and the power bump from the LS1 to the LS2/LS3. It's not a night and day difference by a long shot. The C7 is where interior made a huge improvement, rear end looks much different and the car just looks a lot more modern then both the C5 and C6. Basically, I disagree with just about everything in this video other than the fact that Corvettes are awesome cars.
This whole video is about how similar the cars are. The differences are mostly subtle. If youve owned a C5 and then a C6 the differences will be much more apparent. Especially if you go from a 0 option C5 to a loaded C6 as I did.
@@KOoKeDKiNgK1Lu I have owned both. That's why I shook my head when you said how much better the C6 rear end and interiors are. Not in my experience they aren't. The C7 however was a night and day difference just like it was when the went from C3 to C4 or even the C4 to C5. It's actually amazing how little they changed from C5 to C6 IMO
@@darrenbuttery3527 not the base C6 interior no.. But the centennial interior is a big jump from a C5. The C6 rear end perfected the design cues from the C5 imo. The C5s was flat and bland where the C6 has some interesting curves and more defined side profile.
Same chassis.. slightly updated suspension, drivetrain, interior, and exterior design. Even GM called the C6 "The last 10%" as to say the C5 was 90% the sports car they wanted to build.
