Can’t say I disagree, whenever I think of Corvette, the C6 is what pops into my head. That and the price is exactly why I bought mine, the C6 will definitely be a classic!
2010 C6 vette owner here! Bought the car a couple months ago and I love it. Came with a super charge and a Corsa exhaust. The car had 16547 miles when I bought it.
Thanks for the video. At 73, I purchased an 07 c6 6.0. I wanted a vette since I was 13. This car has 73000 miles, garage kept and covered, serviced only by dealership. It's atomic orange, it came with 2 tops, new brakes, new michelin tires, a new harmonic balancer and shift cable. The paint looks showroom. Tkx again.
Glad to hear you enjoyed. The 07 sounds incredible! Atomic orange is a beautiful color and it sounds like you got a great deal. Enjoy the car, they are an absolute blast!
If I were to buy a Grand Sport, it would be the 2010-13 coupe with manual transmission. The manual adapts to mods a lot better. GM made that motor to be bullet proof and many people don't know it, but the engine was hand made for the manual like they did for the ZR1. There's performance additions to the manual that they didn't add to the automatic. And, the Grand Sport has performance attributes identical to the Z06.
Totally agree that manual is the way to go! Didn’t know they were hand built but that’s really quite interesting. Thanks for the insight and thanks for watching.
The technicians name is on a plaque near the front of the pass side cylinder head. The manual trans grandsport has a close ratio gearbox and coolers on the trans and diff. The crank is forged, the dry sump of course and a launch control. I bought mine instead of a z06 because of the head problems on the z06.
@@russmt4181 I saw a C&S UTube video where Lyle explained the story of the hand built engines for the 2010 Grand Sport. Cool story. Lyle is a cool dude too!
@@rrf6747 I'm guessing that if 7,000 were made from each year, then 1,000 each year were manual. But I'm just guessing. But I know for sure that 2013 was the least production year.
I have a 2012 GS Centennial with a manual. Centennial cars came with Selective Ride as part of the package. That and replacing the run flats with Michelin Sport 4S tires creates a perfect suspension for a daily driver, always just firm enough for conditions but never uncomfortable. Rather than pulling the fuse on the variable exhaust, there’s an aftermarket remote control that lets you toggle back and forth on the fly for around $50. ‘12 and ‘13 got nicer looking seats, and two extra tweeters in the dash with the optional Bose audio system. But I can’t recommend Selective Ride enough. The GS is also the only wide body C6 with the removable targa roof, and the optional transparent roof panel. If you’re in the market for an under $40k Sport Coupe you owe it to yourself to put a C6 GS on your short list.
I love my 2011 GS and daily drive mine 365 days a year (I live in CA) I have the manual which means it come with a few extras such as a hand-built engine, dry sump oiling system and forged crank. If you plan to daily drive keep in mind how low these cars are, they will have you looking out for speed bumps and steep driveway entrances. There are some other inconveniences, you get with the manual transmission such as the dry sump oiling system. I don't mean the fact that its dry sump just that I have to change my own oil since in my area most oil change technicians give me a blank stare when I ask if they are familiar with dry sump oiling system? Speaking of changing my own oil this car take 10.5 quarts of full synthetic oil so its not an inexpensive oil change. Then again this shouldn't bother you considering your driving a high performance after all. Daily driving means you are also replacing expensive tires every 2-3 years and getting in and out the driver's seat everyday lets me know if I am putting on to much weight. Overall its a great experience and love going through the gears and hearing that LS3 scream. I highly recommend the Grandsport if you are considering a Corvette and especially if you plan to daily drive it.
Hi there, I am into buying a 2011 GS Planning for this car to be a weekend car , just wondering since you are using it on daily Is it that bad on maintenance?
IMO you have to get a C6 GS with the manual transmission. The clutch is light not heavy and the throws are decent. The ride is relatively soft and it’s a comfortable car. Just be careful because she is very low to the ground!
Completely agree manual is for sure better. I owned a 2004 Z06 manual and corvette does well with it. Loved the tall gearing and how well built it feels. Thanks for watching!
Be careful not to stumble across my ZR1 video then, you’ll be hooked lol. In seriousness the grand sport is totally a step up from the base in many ways!
I can’t image them being sold under $25,000. I paid 24,000 for my 3LT 2006 convertible. Now I’ll settle for $35,000 for a nice GS. I’m not having any luck yet.
@@paulmoss7940 Good deal Paul. I just download a search for the entire country for 3LT Grand Sports with a convertible top. Just began getting some possible suggestions real fast. A few were as low as 24,000 miles. Congratulations on your new baby! Until I find my new car I still have my 3LT C6. By the way. Did you ever think of getting a C7 with low miles for $40,000 to $44,000? I’m finding 3LT’s in that price range. Have a good evening.
The exhaust is an option ,it did not come with a grand sport.. It added 5 hp. 435 HP verses 430.. most dynoed actually put out 450 hp. Also. when you ordered a manual transmission. you got a had built engine. verses one assembled in Mexico as with the automatics. I actually met my engine builder at the corvette museum, had him sign one of my engine covers . There's a name plate on the engine
I have owned two and the Automatic are 436 HP ,but the 6 speed is a Dry sump engine and better than the Automatic. The 6 speed C6 Corvette is 450 Hp because of the engine being a dry sump oil system.
I bought my 2012 GS Coupe w/ manual in July 2021. I was planning on buying a C6 Z06, but then I learned of the class action/valve drop issue. Then I discovered the many favorable aspects of the LS3, so I pulled the trigger...
@@running2redline What makes the C6 such a great car, is it is the last Corvette that looks like every Corvette going back to the 1960s. You can see that DNA throughout the car. Also, the LS2 6.2L V8 is the best Corvette motor ever made. The reliability on it is incredible and the base power of 436 Hp and 428 torque is just incredible. A lot of the interior quality issues are better in the C6 especially compared to the C5. Bottom line it is just a beauty.
No comparison in power the ls7 is on a different level. Plus the Z is much lighter. That said both wonderful cars, however if getting a GS the stick cars have hand built engines and dry sump so overall a better car just in that respect.
As a Z06 owner. I bought mine with factory engine and had not been touched. I beat on it for about 14K miles. Not a single engine issue. Then got upgraded heads and a bigger camshaft, and went right back to beating on it. I love it!!
Throw a cam in and it beats a Zo6 in power and 0-60 and has all the other good stuff pretty much including a handbuilt LS with dry sump, wider fenders, better springs/shocks, magnaride on some of them if special ordered, launch control, brakes etc....and the autos in these with a small trans tune/stall and the paddles are much faster and AMAZING tbh, id rather it than a manual
Prices are shooting up kicking myself I didn't grab one in mid 2020 when enthusiast cars were in a low point and 2010-2013 C6 GSs were 30-40k now none of them are touching below 50k
They're my favorite, had a C5,loved it but not as much as C6 widebody. More sleek looking.C7 were a bit edgy to me I prefer this.Interiors are cheap & functional don't take em apart & be carefully on bad roads & it'll stay together & not rattle..
@@pauljr.harrington1905 maybe to a certain extent, but speaking from experience, im currently in the market for another sports car (34 yrs old, current car is a c5 corvette) im looking for the best performance for the money with something i can daily drive and take on road trips. I started with the gs but after seeing the interior and track times of a 2ss 1le, im sold. This is coming from someone who hated the look of the 5th gen camaro
I have a 2005 Z51 up graded exaust, high performance computers and same on trans not a scratch on it outside or inside with7000 and 8 origanal miles and much more.Black(wet look) it is a 190 mile per hr carvette.
That’s funny you say that, I own a near identical one, 2005 Z51 3lt. Mine is red, but they are awesome cars and I’m glad to hear you enjoy yours as much as I do!
Sounds like a great car. I will say looks aside if you get the chance to drive a C8 definitely take it. That car is on a new level and the evolution is pretty amazing. I agree with looks though as whenever I think of a corvette the C6 is what comes to mind. Thanks for watching.
@@running2redline Yes, I think it is an amazing car and definitely would buy the electric awd once it has all the bugs out. I live in a retirement community and it is hilarious watching my seniors driving 25 mph through the hood in their C8’s!!
Bought my '13 base model new at the end of the year in early Dec. when pics of the C7 were beginning to float around. Just wasn't sure if I liked the looks or not but mainly didn't want until the C7 began rolling off the line. Since day one, one of my biggest dislikes has been the popping and creaking of the removable top. Tried lots of suggestions. Some worked for a while but always came back. Best fix I found was applying Dielectric to all of the rubber seals. Helped but not a cure. I think a lot of it comes from under the seal along the roof line. Sometime I can unlatch both sides and rear all at the same time and try to shut them all at the same time in hopes of not getting in a bind. I wish I had some acreage and just put it to use as a casket. Love the car! (found out at an early stage the police do also. There seems to be a big relationship between the gas pedal and flashing lights...) :)
@@robpingarelli4387 I can just assume that is what the dealer used during my warranty period but it would come back . After warranty is when I could quieten it somewhat with the dielectric grease. Will try the GM lube. Being deaf in one ear and can't hear in the other one has helped.😂
@@running2redline im in market for Corvette GS or Mustang GT performance package premium . But E55 AMG is other car that i love but you have to be careful when buying it otherwise you'll buy Someones junk
@@gnfnroses5470Buddy, I had a 2007 E55 AMG back in 2008. You'd have to be a hoof mouthed tard to buy that instead of a Grand Sport. The Stang is just garbage unless you boost it to the moon. Even then, it isn't as stout as the LS3. SBE LS3s are unmatched in reliability. It's actually ranked as the most reliable V8 engine of all time across all brands. Pal.
