FWIW, I love my Morimoto C7 headlights for the much improved night-time driving, but getting them to fit "just right" in my GS was a bit tedious to say the least. As to the taillights, I went with the Eagle Eyes. Again due to their improved lighting and yes, they're less expensive. But I wanted anyone and everyone who may be behind me see to my taillights and the Eagle Eyes deliver! Well done on this upload Jason.👍 Save the Wave🙋🏼‍♂️

I agree. Good presentation, decent content, good pacing, no excessive editorializing, excessive fluff, or off-topic nonsense. I hate when presenters say they're going to discuss a topic and then they go on and on about all sorts of other things, history, personal feelings, background story, tangential items, etc.

Thanks for the video. I just went with the Eagle Eye. I want them as bright possible. People do not pay attention.
@InJasonsGarage
@InJasonsGarage 3 года назад
I agree, people don't pay as much attention as they should and sometimes I think that it is because there aren't strong enough consequences for distracted driving. But that's the old man in me complaining. Even at the same brightness level as stock, LED has the benefit of "instant on" which does catch the eye a bit better than the quick but still gradual illumination of an incandescent bulb.
@True_Knight

Great video. When I bought tail lights for my C6 the Eagle Eyes were the only ones available. I didn't really like how the plastichrome structure looked inside. I ended up cutting them open and painting the entire plastichrome piece black, closed them back up, then added a light tint to them. They are super bright, and the light tinting helped bring it down to a reasonable level and still be brighter than stock. The tint also helped match it to the black car too.

Jason, great job on that comparison. How about this; Mount one set first, then have someone drive the Vette while you follow behind videoing the taillights in action. I’d do one set at a time, during daylight then at night. This comparison would show how the lights appear in real world testing to other drivers!! No one does this. - But seeing how they look on the car while it’s driving would be the definitive example of the taillights.
@InJasonsGarage
@InJasonsGarage 2 года назад
Thanks for that suggestion! But there is something to consider.... There's a reason why credible reviewers do not do this...or at least why I don't... 😎 My test environments, however basic, are much more consistent than comparing my actual outside environment conditions to everyone else's. They are rarely the same, considering ambient light like street lights, moonlight, starlight, fog or moisture in the air...which can change everything. Any video that shows lighting road tests using a camera (which can't compare to the human eye or even the basic lux sensor that I use) as '"real world" results is misleading. It's unfairly assuming that the viewer has the same exact camera and environment conditions, every time you drive. Realistically, under certain conditions and camera settings, I can make a simple keychain flashlight appear as bright as the sun. That is why I am very specific about the using the exact same conditions for my tests...every test, every time, using the same environment. That way, you can see actual "real world" data on how each light compares to each other,. Actual DATA tells the story. Someone's highly variable camera output does not. If you are simply buying on someone's "road tests", you don't have the full story. Again, actual DATA tells the truth…which is what you get from me! What do you think of this explanation? I genuinely would like to know!

good vid! For what it's worth I really like the morimoto tails. Brighter and much better looking than stock. The new ones also have the sequential turn signal function fixed.
@InJasonsGarage
@InJasonsGarage 3 года назад
I agree. And I know that the first Morimoto releases had the sequential feature, but there was also a slight delay between when the brakes were hit and the lights lit up. Not safe, and I'd rather have normal functioning taillights than a whole rear bumper caved in...or worse. :) They stopped offering the sequential feature because of that, but I didn't know that they ended up releasing the sequential feature again.

@salvadormonella8953 Год назад
@@InJasonsGarage I watch a lot of youtube. I'm a curious person that wants to know everything. It's almost an obsession, and so I watch a lot of different types of content. Of course I have my favorite topics, and go pretty deep on those video-watching wise. I'm also brutally honest. Sometimes that upsets people. I find my comments break 50%/50% people that love or hate them, but whether somebody likes what I have to say, or doesn't, I have a good track record on the accuracy of my assessments. It isn't 100%, but it's close. I have a C6, and so I watch a lot of Corvette-related videos. So when I say these nice things about your videos, I'm not being flattering. I have no reason to. I just offer an honest assessment with high accuracy and your videos truly stand out. I pay attention to things others might not. For me, it isn't necessarily videos with the highest production value get bonus points from me. In fact, while I do appreciate good production, frequently I find over-production annoying. Plus, video producers that spend more time picking their bumper-music, so they can seem cool with how good their musical taste is, than they do on the accuracy of their content. THAT I hate. I also pay attention to the way people speak. I'm not sure why. Sure, the death of adverbs in the English language is annoying, but I notice that MANY professionals, paid to speak, speak very poorly. They use the wrong words, not just imperfect words, i mean definitionally, the word their using doesn't mean what they think it does or intend to say. Bad grammar is another one. How well does the language flow? Is the pacing good, not too fast, not too slow, cadence of the words, etc. Does it SOUND good. Is it PLEASING. Perhaps I focus on this because I interact so extensively with non-English speakers both in the U.S. and abroad that I'm tuned in to language itself. In your case, you get all the stuff right. Your garage isn't a one-trick pony-car, it's the complete package, video-wise. So my encouragement is studied, judicious, and heartfelt. Like I said: keep it up. The world would be a better place if more people produced videos as well as you do. Cheers.

I really like my Morimoto XB but I've only had them a few months and the plastic T15 screw mount already broke off on one of my lights after removing them 2 or 3 times for some maintenance/modifications (I did an RPI ZR1 spoiler thanks to your review) and I also noticed the material on the back of the resistor box is cracking and chipping apart on my lights. Doesn't seem that they take to well to Texas temps. I daily drive my C6 but it is garage kept. For the price i'm sad to see the Morimotos already falling apart after a few months but the quality of LED is nice.
@InJasonsGarage
@InJasonsGarage 3 года назад
Ouch. That's not cool. Where did you buy them from?
@Photobombin
@Photobombin 3 года назад
@@InJasonsGarage I got them from Vette lights. Like I said I've removed them about 3 times because I did stuff like install that ZR1 spoiler which I'm stoked on, backup cam as well. I work on custom cars all the time so I screwed them in by hand everytime and made sure they were snug but I wasn't cranking them down. Last time I took them off 2 of them had started to split big time and 1 fully broke off so I super glued them all together. I'm happy with the quality of light but the small plastic mounting point is a weak spot for sure.
@InJasonsGarage

@@Photobombin Heck, I have removed and replaced mine many times for my videos. I am pretty conscious of how much force is needed for things like that, including snugging the fastener down. @InJasonsGarage 3 года назад
I was surprised as well. My reaction was genuine. 😆 I have Hyperikon LED garage lights and they have done well over the past few years. When I look more at the video, I think my stage-style lighting that I have set up was making that flicker happen. The weird part is that I didn't see it my my eyes, but it picked up on the camera.
@contagiousingenuityagency5273
@contagiousingenuityagency5273 3 года назад
@@InJasonsGarage In that case, it must be that the flicker coming from the LED shop lights, while invisible to the human eye, matches pretty well with the camera shutter speed. That's pretty normal as it originates from the PWM signal sent to the LED chips by the driver.
