Man ! 4:01 ... The way you stopped the car from 190 MPH to 0 MPH at gas station in less then 2 sec was absolutely cool and brilliant... I never knew gas station can safely stop your car and start fueling in Road Race... Great technique ! My record is about 3 seconds.
Thanks for sharing 👍 My friends and I were just talking about this game and i couldn't remember the name. I finally figured it out! Brings back good memories.
My favourite racing game on the C64... Great "cannonball run" atmosphere... A soon to be released game that's going to revive the same concept (updated to the most modern graphics, of course) is Need for Speed The Run. (I'm not advertising it, I don't work for EA, I don't even know if it's going to be good or bad, just saw a trailer).
Oh I remember playng this on my C-64.... loading without TurboTape, took about 45 minutes to load and half the time you'd get a 'load error'. And at that time I didn't even speak English, so had no idea what "gas on right" or "gas on left" meant. Ran out of fuel all the time...
Such a shame that Activision never came out with an analog controller or steering setup for the c64. This game and many others sure could have used it!
Even if that 1985 Activision game came to Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis in 1992 as examples, this is something different the C64 does not. LA to NY; LA to Miami; LA to Washington; Seattle to NY; Seattle to Miami; Seattle to Washington; SF to NY; SF to Miami; SF to Washington. That is nine city race courses I came up with. There are two US Tours such as Starting in Seattle and Starting in LA. That is eleven races all together. Is that too much to ask?
wow. You're an awesome driver. I never drove as quickly as you. And i always missed the fracking pumps and had to push my car. He-he. Cool comments when the police pulled you over.
After seeing this I remember playing this game, in my opinion it was enjoyable, but rather forgettable because nothing really stood out about it to make it really special above other racing games.
:-))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) I just love the 1980s... I used to play this game for hours and hours. It is ACTUALLY very addictive and DIFFICULT. I used to keep the time records for individual routes... Damn, already back in 1988 (when I got my C64), 30 years next year... I am getting seriously old, I see... :-)
