Hello Mr Clark, I'm wondering if you still recommend the Borla atak for the c8. I'm thinking about having it installed on my c8 this year at Carlisle. Any advice would greatly appreciated. Thank you!
What are you guys paying for Install ? I'm in SoCal and paid a shop $1250 which seemed kind of high. But they did a perfect job so I didn't complain. Owner said it took 10 hours to install. If you only get one aftermarket item GET THIS ! It changes your whole driving experience.
@@dmraco No dealers around me would do it and we have lots of dealers. They all told me the same thing. If it doesn't have a GM part number we can't put it on your car. I'm still super happy with it, best upgrade of the $40k I've spent so far.... Oh, I also replaced the cats with Kooks Hi-Flo cats at the same time.
@@DaveGee0 maybe the CA laws against after market exhausts are intimidating the dealers. Kinda sad since Borla makes a part that is authorized by GM, different system but exact same install.
Are you totally satisfied with the Borla? Do you have any reservations of getting the Borla? I’m strongly considering then Borla for my C8 and only reason I haven’t got it yet is because of all the other manufacturers available, just want to make a good decision
I am totally happy with it. I was out cruising with the top off yesterday for about 4 hours. I have it set for the valves totally open in my mode. VERY aggressive and will not disappoint. American muscle at its best. Lots of burbles that you can easily learn to summon at any time. However switching to your mode and closing the valves quiets it down significantly. Around town it is a tick louder than the stock NPP. It is undetectable at highway cruising.
Did you have the performance exhaust first? My real question is do you need that so you have the valves as an option? I would only get this if I could open and close them
Yes. I had the NPP performance exhaust and switched it out. It’s now sitting in my shed 🤪. Having the ability to open and close the valves is much more appreciated with the Borla. On the stock exhaust it did not make much difference. Unfortunately you need to have the NPP to get the Borla to function. If you don’t have the valves, there are some good non valved systems available like SOUL, Paragon & AWE.
@@dmraco thanks! I was hoping I was wrong 😅 seems silly to buy the performance exhaust from factory then take it off for the Borla, but it does seem worth it to get the valve function!
@@ryants1 seems silly but having the valves with the aftermarket is so nice. It’s can get to be a bit much with the valves open. I drive 75% with them open. I will close them when motoring around town with my wife in the car. Cruising on the highway it does not matter much open or closed. No drone either way.
Are you totally satisfied with the Borla? Is there anything you are not happy with? I am strongly considering going with a Borla but there are so many choices with all the manufacturers!
I agree. I know Borla is good, but like with all premium products, there's usually a competitor that delivers 90-95% of the quality (sound and tone) for half the price. Trying to find that product for C8 exhausts.
@@stevesamuel263 From what I've seen the AWE exhaust fits that bill. A guy in my area has it and it is noticeably better than stock but cheaper than Borla I think... he did have problems with it throwing codes took a few relearns to fix but thats it.
