C8 TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS??? 

Update: still waiting on an appointment with Chevy - transmission has had no shuddering events since. Will update again soon! Ps - was tired and rambling on the go, editor did their best to clean it up, still new to this 👍

Drive your C8 in manual mode. The problem is the AFM active fuel mgmt software. It will not show as a fault. AFM will wreak havoc on your Trans. Driving it in manual mode will disable the AFM software and will resolve the issue. GM head engineer for C8 design covered this issue a while back.

Had DCT issue this past summer and it was the valve body. They replaced and did a tune and it’s been golden. My friend here has a ‘20 as well and he lost odd gears and had the DCT replaced. My car had very hard shifts and a warning I the DIC that read ‘Rear Axle INOP’. You really have to be looking for the warning as you get no ding or bell when it pops up and it only stays on for so long. I had about 5500 miles on the car.

Hope your transmission trouble gets resolved ok. But I want to complement you on being one of the very few drivers I have watched that uses their turn signals all the time.

I’ve had stuttering/shuddering issues for almost two years since it was new. It’s been in the shop 5-6 times. A different story every time and of course no problems when service took it for drives. Dealer said I needed fresh transmission fluid which of course wasn’t under warranty!

sorry Dude, I heard a lot of transmission issues with the C8. I will wait until GM sorts out all the issues with the C8 before I commit to purchasing one.

I just bought a 22 C8 and my first day of ownership got a CEL stating high fluid pressure in the transmission. Dealer said it was a valve body and GM is going to replace it. Now I'm worried what the lead time is on that trans...

Had problems with mine. In the shop for six weeks. They fixed it but finally got rid of it.

Had the same type of problem they did and they did some kind of firmware update at the Dealer. All good now!

Having this problem between 1.5-2k rpm’s on the highway. Doesn’t matter if it’s 5th 6th or 7th gear. Generally between 65-80mph, also noticeably worse when on an incline. Car chatters/stutters rapidly and you feel the jolt from front to back until it gets over that 2k mark. Have had this problem pretty much since I purchased the car last December, but gotten worse now that I’m at 17k. Scheduled to bring it in soon

Same thing happened with C7's with 8-speed automatics. Years later GM discovered the transmission fluid needed flushed and replaced with different fluid.

Had my 2020 C8 transmission replaced twice. Less than 20,000 Mile's on it. Just picked up a 2024 Z06 on Tuesday and with 169 miles on it, I got a transmission hot, pull over message. Long story short, I need a new transmission. What is going on GM??

One thing to know: engineers design the internals of any car but the people working in the factories assembling the car sometimes are not the smartest or even the most caring. They're just there to get a paycheck, clock-out, and go home.

My C8 transmission just went out at 196miles I bought the car 2 weeks ago. My first time going through this with a car I don’t know what to expect , would it be considered a lemon?

My Camaro did the same thing. Chevy wanted to just switch out transmission fluid for Chevron with shutter control.

These cars were rushed to market and it shows…so many issues out there it’s sad

Automatic transmission are convenient but too complex for my tastes. Been driving cars with MTs for 36 years and have not had rebuilt one or replaced one yet!

Took my 2024 c8 in for a oil change two days ago first one @ 1,000 miles , they told me my transmission is leaking and want me to bring it in tomorrow 😮 hoping it’s not to serious

My DCT filter was at 3%@7500mile service😂, dealership wanted $800 to change it before 2nd service, JUST THE FILTER no fluid

Mine is currently in the dealership for the same thing, getting a new transmission. ‘22 HSG C8.R. Hate you’re going through this too.

I work at a GM dealer service department and I refuse to buy what I service!

Hope the problem gets resolved. I know this can be annoying. However, why are you driving at 75-80 mph in 6th gear vs 7th or 8th? The engine is turning faster than it needs to be. Not saying it relates to your problem, but it can impact engine longevity.

I have a 2022 C8 with 4,450 miles I am having shifting issues it won’t shift or revs high between gears I’m taking it to dealer as soon as I can get a appointment

i had the transmission replaced at 20k miles, it was slipping gears and rattling. 2021 2LT.

Why is your rpm so high normal driving?

Since new, my 2020 sometimes will not automatically shift up/down. You can manually shift just fine and it will auto shift to first at a stop. Usually goes away in 5 or so minutes. Seems more like an electronics issue since it shifts fine manually. Dealer says they would have to duplicate problem and if they don't find anything, a future out of waranty problem would not be covered. Anyone experienced this?

Someone had a Z06 engine failure with only 52 miles.

My 2023 C8 motor was replaced at 35k. Now my transmission is failing at 60k

They know the problem exists. They should be replacing the trans. Instead they are waiting for your warranty to run out so they’re off the hook. If mine does that I will drive it through their fkng museum.

Good ol GM. manufacture defects out the bum. Welcome to the 30k miles club. Put 30k miles on my chevy and it started having serious problems. coincidence? i think not. oh and my car has a warranty on it they refuse to honor so my car has been down since april 2022. will be a damn year soon. GM fails us again.

Car was not tested well

Do you garage your C8? How many times have you gone for the zero to 60 in 2.8 seconds. More then once you were wrong. Operator error is more likely then the the transmission. I my first C8 22500 miles and the had no transmission problems. Most of the time I pulled both paddle shifters as I approached a full stop and then hold one paddle to stay in neutral until the light changed. Then I release the one paddle, the 8 speed started in First gear. As I rolled away from the stop I would tap the resume button an smoothly pul away from the crowd. As I would glance in the mirror the crowd was about a block behind with out any drama. I was moving at the preselect traffic speed. Now all the C8 abuser need a transmission r two so I can’t get an allocation for my new HTC C8 Sting Ray I am in line to get for over 6 month now. It will be Torch Red with a tan interior and at this rate may be a 2024. If they don’t give an allocation to my Classic Chevrolet in Flyover country I may have to pay extra for the 2022 Gray C8R on the dealer floor to have a new HTC in my life time. Thanks all you 8 speed DCT abusers for my time in line to get in Line!

Question is has anyone NOT had issues with the c8 transmission. I’m selling mine. I feel it’s a matter of when. I think every one will fail within 40-50 thousand miles. I’m dumping this pos. Gonna look into a nice Acura or maybe a challenger.
