c900 Dash Repair and Vinyl Recovering 

Excellent video. I participated in a restoration clinic last month that was taught by one of the top concours level restoration shop owners in the country --- who has restored some of the rarest and highest scoring Ferraris. It was quite hands-on and he taught and allowed us to cut and cover several small pieces with leather and vinyl. I immediately recovered my c900 door inserts. The most interesting part of the restoration clinic was being taught the technique of "Flocking". I had never heard of this process/technique and I was absolutely spellbound by the results. The process involves simply spraying velvet-like fibers to a prepped surface. The fibers adhere to any solid surface; glass, plastic, wood, metal, aluminum.... and you are left with an amazing alcantara like finish. He had some $20 kits on hand and we were able to finish small projects in less than 30 minutes!!! I have already covered a pair of headliners, and a glovebox interior. I have also removed 2 cracked dashes that I am in the process of prepping now ---- so this video is quite timely. I think I will flock one and use this video as a guide to cover the other one. Very nice job for your first time...I like how you used the other parts to hold the vinyl in place which lets you see if you have the correct gap all the way around. Great video!

I can't even count how many SAAB interiors I've rehabbed over the past 30 years. Headliners, door panels, parcel shelves. I did exactly ONE dashboard and said, "One's good." It did turn out good, but almost more effort than it was worth. Good job, here.

2 Questions. First the video was simply superb. Love the finished product!! So the vinyl you used....does it come in varying thicknesses? And have you ever tried to recover door panels with this same vinyl?
