I dont know why so many people are always so negative when it comes to Los Angeles. Its a beautiful city. and California is the most beautiful place in the world.
Dear God I'd hate to be on that elevated HOV lane during an earthquake... I really enjoyed this one! You can never get enough of that 105/110 interchange. Great job!! Definitely adding this to my favorites.
Excellent stability with your camcorder, great commentary, and visual graphics, not to mention two of the greatest civil engineering achievements in the U.S.A., with both the 4 lane elevated HOV viaduct, and perhaps the most sprawling interchange in the world, in the I-105/I-110 interchange.
@ScrewdUPClickV2 -That's what gives the high-five the edge for me, the fact that the main levels are stacked but some of the approach ramps are a mile long, plus the color scheme and the graceful curves, it's more aesthetically pleasing to look at than most others in its class. Talking about spread out, the I-45/TX-8 South is as spread out a 5-Level stack as I've ever seen.
Great video, loved the ride. As impressive as the I-105/I-110 interchange is I gotta give the slight edge to the High-Five in Dallas. How would you compare the elevated HOV lanes in this video to the ones on I-10 just west of Downtown Houston?
beautiful video! it looks like the HOV lanes could possible extend further into the city one day? the beginning where the lanes start the bridge has a stub on the end.
thats how it is on all of the L.A. freeways.. when traffic is flowing in a pretty good pace people drive heck of fast.. yeah there going around 100 miles an hour or so...
I miss LA, thank you for posting but 110 does not run into Long Beach it runs in San Pedro. at the end of the 110. You slow down to a sharp right curve, then come up to an over head sign the reads 'Welcome to San Pedro" the 1st road you come is Gaffey street.
A lot of the funding for cal trans is a gasoline tax that makes California one of the more expensive places to buy gas despite having a lot of oil and refineries in state
Sorry dutch guy here. What CalTrans does seems like a multibillion industry in order to maintain the infrastructure. How is this actually established? Just asking as to the immense infrastructure apparent in California. Is any part of this done via taxes as in state/country taxes?
@ScrewdUPClickV2 I see that you have some exact and interesting informations about your state, however as a Europiean I have some troubles with those "k"-es or "feets" (miles are ok),cannot orientate instantly but never mind. In fact I recall that I once travelled virtually across the Texas,it was with BigRigTravels-Live truckcam, the route went from Houston(I think) and was headed to Utah, near the Salt lake City. And yes there were mountains, hills whatever. So interesting to folllow then.
I-110 is one of the coolest rides (if it's moving) Did you know Los Angeles actually has one of the least developed freeway systems in the US, when you compare lane mileage to population? Similar to New York City.
Drove the 110 fwy last April and it seems that caltrans used a diamond grinding machine to produce grooves in the concrete pavement itself. They are common on the 5, 405, 110, 605, 105, and 101 fwys, but in NJ only I-287 from exit 47-66 has concrete grooves just like the 110 fwy in los Angeles
i know thats true. the last time when i was in L.A. there were having alot of construction projects on almost all the freeways i was driving in L.A. that's crazy but not that it'll do any good it's just to over populated there no matter what they do to the freeways it really wouldn't matter...
@ 2:30, u actually made a tiny mistake. The Metro Green Line [Line 803] is a light rail train, not a bus transit. XD In addition, even though this video is over 2 yrs old, the HOV lanes will be replaced as express lanes, beginning on November 10. Sorry if i ruin the fun on ur video.
@adrianroam95 we all watch these vids, even we the Europieans do not worry my friend.I find these vids extraordinary, american roads are like europieans just put 2 or 3 more lanes into the roads structure : ) Just kidding of course,to watch tthese vids is like a dream, especially these ones within the California/Los Angeles.I prefer California.Tonight I came across these vids for the first time and I'm stunned! I do the full screen and give myself over to the incredible trip. Thanks ScrewdUPclick.
The reason why LA freeways are concrete is because concrete requires less maintenance than asphalt and generally is more durable. Most of the freeway lanes in LA are 20-50 years old. If they were built with asphalt they would of had to had been resurfaced 3-10 times already.
Weaving through traffic is just what we Angelinos do. For the most part everyone will make room for each other. And you always have to keep an eye out for those going 20 mph faster then the flow of traffic.
@ScrewdUPClickV2 ah it was you ScrewdUPClickV2. I didn't notice it was you in the first reply lol,I thought it was adrianroam95 everything is going fast on You Tube so are replies.Well of course that I'll take a look at it,I need to stop typing first: ) I intend to watch all your videos if able to come across all your collection here.
@ScrewdUPClickV2 I see, Florida is flat not Texas, well ok if that is so, I'll check it thru videos and thru Google Earth map of Texas for some overall insight. This way or another it's a long way to go till I get everything I want here on You Tube, the search across America has yet to start : )
