This video follows CA 91 East, from CA 57 in Anaheim to Interstate 15 in Corona. Includes footage of the Santa Ana Canyon, the 91 Express Toll Lanes Facility, and provides a brief description about the Inland Empire.
Good to see you redo the 91 East in HD. Looks much better. I've always enjoyed driving this stretch of the 91 to the IE (only the weekends though) the green hills are really soothing. 5 star.
Thanks for filming this stretch as I have a friend who lives near Anaheim and will have to drive this stretch this summer. Since I'm under the legal age of renting, I'm thinking about possibly using ZipCar? I know using mass-transit can be hellacious in LA.
Awesome video, greater Los Angeles never gets old. The Riverside Freeway is one of the worst in Los Angeles, hence the excessive toll rates on the express lanes. They have proposed a tunnel from Corona to Irvine, but with California's budgetary crisis, I don't see that coming into fruition soon...
...to CA 91 East, and then connect with I-5 South. Most of the drivers that head north on I-605, are headed toward I-10, CA 60 or I-210, with some drivers heading south on I-5 to head for communities, between I-605 and CA 91. If that makes sense.
@barren6136: Yeah, that's definitely one freeway you don't wanna be stuck in during peak hours! Fortunately, I almost never have to drive it during rush hours, but the few times that I do find myself driving the 91 during peak times, I'm usually willing to pay the toll to access the express lanes.
I almost forgot about my low-quality video of this same stretch of roadway; I should notify everyone who left a comment on the LQ version about this video. Glad you enjoyed the ride. There's definitely a lot more from LA/OC coming online to RU-vid in the coming weeks and months ahead.
This video is pretty helpful. My girlfriend lives in corona and I live in dana point, orange county...i wish there was a bus to get over there. I wish I had a car! I miss her so much
@24Tyson: There's no express bus service between the two counties? I just always assumed there was a Rapid Bus Extension out to the I.E. from the OC. I wonder why it isn't available?
@Cyrus992 One thing I wanted to say is that on the 10 east the sign for the 15 north actually does say Barstow, Las Vegas. I think they only have Barstow listed since Las Vegas is in the next state and it would probably be insufficient to have it listed in Corona. Just a guess though. One thing I did want to ask, is why do so many people think Indio isn't a good control city for the 10? I live in the Palm Springs area, and am a huge freeway person but always wondered that.
I give FreewayJim all the due credit for the song. He's the one that discovered it, last week, and thought I should use for a video. Yeah, CA 91 thru the Santa Ana Canyon is such a nice drive, but when it's congested, it's one of the most miserable commutes in Southern California.
Parts of CA 90 (between CA 57 and CA 91 around Yorba Linda) are already up to freeway-grade (you probably already knew that). I'm imagining that's probably where you got your idea from.
Hmmmm, I'm pretty doubtful they'll extend I-105 East, as the city of Norwalk would vehemently protest a brand new freeway going right thru the heart of the city. It was originally part of CalTrans plans to connect I-5 with I-105, but decided against doing so, as I-5 was (and still remains) unimproved since it's 1950's construction. CalTrans deteremined that I-5 could *not* handle the increased traffic loads. As a result, most drivers heading for Orange County will take I-605 South to...
The 91 express lanes are the best option when traveling the 91, it cuts time significantly, and they have a free roadside assistance. If you do break down call 911 immediately give them the best location and lane you are in. I must tell you if you have a flat they will make you drive it, it is more unsafe to stay in the lane than drive on your flat. If you see the tow truck drivers trying to get pass you in traffic with their lights on move because they will get traffic flowing again.
When is the best time to drive the 91W to the 215S and vice versa? I'm moving to Lake Elsinore in about a month and am just curious as to when getting on the road is a nor so good idea.
Do Cali have any type of programs to make ppl move/live closer to their place of employment? Looking in from the outside it seams really strange soo many ppl live and work so far apart, quality of life isn't only to live in your "preferred neighbourhood" but to have a nice and short commute.
Corona's population is now 152,374 including me. Also, the Corona city limit is at Green River Road, not really between CA-71 and Serfas Club Dr. and they just added a new lane to EB CA-91 so it's not as congested as before but it's still pretty bad.
If you ever watched Nip/Tuck on FX, they used this song in the 1st season. The original score was by Daniel Ash. Great choice and remix for this video! Almost $10 for that stretch?! Jesus, that's worse than the GWB, Lincoln, or Holland rates in NY that are jacked up beyond belief. If people are willing to pay it, then I guess there's no problem?
