I read that he also adopted several pets from shelters too. One of the cats he got from the shelter was found dead.

He was in his 30s and it's highly unlikely those 10 were his first. He's likely been doing it for years, so long the strays in his immediate area have been wiped out so many times they know to avoid it like death. Hence why he went to great lengths to get pet cats.

It's very disturbing how in the west judges seem to be in total denial about who can be let out of prison. In France we had the case of a serial r*pist who was deemed "cured" (?!) and let out... and first thing he did was not only r*pe but also torture and kill a girl... Also the case of a guy who kidnapped his friends' 6 yo kid and asked for ransom, but he got annoyed because the kid was crying so he strangled him, and he did only 20 years. Then he was out. Most people were against it. But a few misguided judges are ruling over us. The lawyer said on tv "he did his time, he paid his price". He was able to study in prison. Got out already having a job. But the first thing he did was starting to sell drugs and when the cops were after him he fled abroad... Any sane person knew he could not and should not be put back in society. Same for this cat killer. ZERO prospect for change. He is a predator and should be kept away from society. When will our justice systems understand that?

What's upsetting is that even that's not enough to ensure the pet's safety 😢 anyone can act normal for a day and clean their house. (He sure did.) Legally they don't have to let you anywhere but the front door. No one has the authority to inspect the basement, check the cupboards and look under the bed for places of torture and that stuff can easily be stored/hidden/explained away. Putting it in the car, at a friends/storage unit, "oh, that? I hunt during the summer months. Gotta keep the deer population in check, y'know?" 🙄😮‍💨

Charging an adoption fee in itself isn't exactly going to deter people like this guy (he also adopted shelter cats to kill - which he paid money for). People needing to re-home a pet NEED to do HOME INSPECTIONS as well as contacting the potential-adopters veterinarians to verify that they are in fact responsible pet owners who take proper care of their pets. Anyone who refuses a home visit or refuses to give proper contact information for their veterinarian is your cue to say NO ❌ and move on to someone else.
