bought the caad 13 disc, and it's an amazing bike. welds aren't nearly as bad as people are making them out to be, and it really does feel like a carbon frame. i came from a fuji transonic 2.5 full carbon bike previously, and the caad 13 it just as stiff, and light!
New to cycling as a sport but have a family with a long history of cycling and they almost all recommended me the CAAD13 A. Comfort is surprisingly well on this bike B. Cannondale is a great brand which my family has always sat comfortably with C. I’ve ridden carbon bikes from my family and I can say even though the science of carbon bikes will always be true the CAAD13 is a carbon feeling machine D. Even with the new geometry being more vertical it helps for beginner riders I’m not comfortable with a large reach but the CAAD13 is perfect middle ground where the drops are comfortable even when I haven’t ridden a road bike for any purpose other than just testing or messing with one of my family members’ bike E. Cannonade might have made this high priced but I would rather buy a crit machine that if I were to crash it I wouldn’t have messed up a carbon frame (excluding the fork)
the problem with the caad12 and caad13 are CDALE company using these frames to force us to buy their parts only. The seat post on the 12 is not normal sized, and the 13 is proprietary. the BB is now called bb30a and limits you to sram and cdale unless you know the shaft is long enough!
They should make a classic looking rim brake bike, and do away with the Optimo line up, have a 1x option either 46t/48t/52t paired with either an 11/32 34 or 36. use The CAAD tech to take elements from the CAAD 8, 10, and 12 to make an awsome/affordable crit bike for under $1500 that looks like a super bike killer. BSA BB, 27.2 seat post. these proprietary seat posts stop people from upgrading to some of the great seat posts that really improve a bikes ride quality. You can build up any of the older CAAD frames with new components for less money and end up with a bike you reallly like.
Glad to see someone telling it like it is! The 13 is way too expensive and the frame welds are worse than canyon’s welds! And believe me bb30a is a creaking bb. I know I bought a 2016 caad12.
Melbourne Cycling Segments I wouldn’t recommend a Caad to anyone after my experience. Now I’ve silenced it it’s a great bike but has cost me so much! I would buy the specialized or the trek!
@@jnick1909 my story is very long, but had a lot of trouble with clicking/creaking for up to 3 years. Bike shop couldn’t sort it either. Two BBs later, new wheelsets and changing many parts it is now quiet and a superb bike! But the money I’ve spent I could’ve bought something much nicer!
This was hard to watch. Why tape this walking around with a selfie stick? What's the purpose? Why not tape it at least riding a CAAD13? Anyway, I think the pricier CAAD13 is Cannondale's way of letting the cycling world know the newest in the CAAD series is truly a high end bike.
Your last sentence says it all. "Here's a stick. It's the best stick in the world coz it's expensive". These days expensive = highend marketing department.
What else would you look at for a light weight winter bike ideally 28c that can take fenders and still keep up with a fast paced club run? I was hoping a new Alez elite would drop with discs but nothing released as yet.
It depends I guess what the CAAD13 costs in your local market. In Australia at the moment it is too expensive when compared to the competition, otherwise it ticks all the boxes you mentioned ( ignoring looks as that is a subjective thing). I would have some BB30 concerns for a winter bike but then again the Allez uses the same I believe. For me I keep going back to the trek emonda alr 5 in either rim or disc. I'm not a trek fan boy, in fact quite the opposite. But I've come around and that is the bike my heart keeps calling for. I will be featuring a video very soon on this exact topic... So stay tuned as I will be covering a lot more bikes in a lot more detail.... Cheers!
@@BeardonaBike It doesn't have proper fender mounts on the frame but you can get those clip on ones like the Crud ones. Also there comes the point where price wise you can go carbon frame
Good Point. In Canada there are five CAAD 13 build available. The 105 disc is $2750 there is also a rim version for $2400. Emonda ALR 5 disc is $2399 and the Rim is $1995 the Specialized Allez Sprint Disc comp is $2869. So for me I'd buy the Trek all! Now only if they had an aluminum Madone.
Yes, agreed 100% I REALLY think there are those other choices for a really good aluminum bike. Plus the idea of sitting in a more up right position for most of us is not very appealing, though for really long distances it may be ok. But honestly there are a shit load of great bikes out there in the 1.600 to 2.200 range... I understand that in Australia the prices are much higher, for many products, shame really... All Cyclist beware of the marketing hype of new products, remember that it's still ok to get last year's or even 2-3 year old new bikes for the obvious reasons. Another thing, Some have said that rim brakes would be prehistoric in no time, I couldn't disagree more, I know of pros and real heavy into cycling fanatics that have found that disc brakes need a ton of attention and maintenance, a pain in the arse, as soon as you pop off the wheel, to fix a flat, and put it back on you tend to get a nerve racking click sound/rubbing that ruins any ride! Sure, they brake very well, but all that's involved in owning a disc brake bike is much more than meets the eye, especially the extra kilo + -that it adds lol I totally respect people who shoot for disc brakes, but seen enough myself to be able to shy away from that and stick with the good ol' rim brake versions... Cannondale yes what were you thinking!!! Sickbiker channel , also does a take on the new system six, and all the numbers and areas that a rider would improve on IF they bought their bike!!!!! A bunch of hype and bull___it!!!!!! Cyclist, check out before making purchase!!! Thx for your take, nice honest video :-)
leftymadrid the companies won’t give you any choice, check the new domane, doesn’t exists with rim brakes, plus a lot of pros train with discs but will use rim in racing when it goes uphill only
You ride on what you got. You got what you buy... Approaching of the companies in bike industry changed the rule "demand drives supply" other way round and I don't like it. I am sure there is no demand on more proprietary made bikes and so on. So no hype bandwagon jump from me.
Now in 2022 the CAAD13 has dropped to £1800GBP $2000USD. Having said that , I just got an immaculate used CAAD12 Ultegra rim for £500. New bikes don't make sense to me, they so overpriced it's a joke.
Love my caad 12! I think its going to become my dedicated all around climbing bike and ill probably be looking at an allez sprint or something similar for pan flat races/crits. Really hard for me justify carbon at my novice level haha although I do dream of a 2020 super6😍
I think you are spot on and Cannondale are probably losing a great opportunity to release an aluminum bike that would entice some buyers to later upgrade to the supersix. This happened to me with the Caad 12 that I later upgraded to Supersix II (like some call it now). I would have never did this if the Caad 12 was as expensive as the Caad 13
CAAD are good but at this price point i preferred a Bianchi impulso 105 aluminum and i am so happy with my decision. Cost me 1000 USD less with way better specs and comfort.
@@geraldtone5914 Sprint, in Gloss Moto Orange, the best color ever! The Tektro brakes were junk and it shipped with R5800 but I’ve upgraded the rear derailleur and brakes to R7000 and the differences have been night and day.
My thoughts exactly - I have had CAAD10 105 for 8 years and it is simply amazing and brings shame to any carbon bike. But this CAD13 has ugly welds and way overpriced
I can understand a threaded bottom bracket might not lend itself to carbon framset manufacturing, but surely it is perfect for an aluminium frame. My current allu bike has threaded BB and external cables....a dream to maintain 😍
Amazing video! Hi, I have caad 13 105 . I'd like upgrade with alloy dt swiss ER 1400 dicut. What do you think about this? Do you change to carbon seat post and the same question for improving handle bar. Which handle bar do you recommend in carbon? Thanks a lot!!!
Thanks. Do you have disc or rim brakes? The DT Swiss wheels are good, but I would get the 1600s if you can. Carbon bars? Don't bother not worth it. Better to invest that cash in better wheels. For the bars it's more important you are happy with the shape and width. Carbon post might add more comfort? Maybe? Hope this helps
@@melbournecyclingsegments7510 thanks MCS! Between 1400 dicut wheels and 1600 spline, which do you recommend and why? 1600 is cheaper than 1400. Both are alloy. 1400 is lighter than 1600 . Cheers
@@santiagoarribas5368 looking at their website it seems the difference is the hubs and rim depths. I think the 1400 are probably better unless you want a slightly deeper wheel. Probably 1400 are the ones I think I would get. I imagine the 1600 are heavier due to the hubs being 350 and also perhaps the deeper rim option. But the 1600 are a lot cheaper. Either would be good, they make good solid reliable hubs and wheels
