Thanks for a great video, it brings back memories. I was a shunter at Dee marsh junction and I used to sit under the window in the cabin that was shown in this film. thank you.
I haven't travelled to Wrexham for a long time but I am so happy that I have found your video. I love the journey from Bidston to Wrexham. Nice filming too. Thank you for uploading your video.
Sorry, I don`t have a photo of the unit, but if you look at Wrexham General 10-12-2008 in my uploads, the opening shot is of one of the same units (perhaps the same one) leaving platform 4 of Wrexham General Station. Thanks for the kind comments, I hope to go to the U.S. in the next year or two to record rail traffic there.
That's my route revision between Deemarsh and wrexham done - nothings really changed, the branch line to Mickle trafford saved Warrington driver alot of time getting to and from Deemarsh with the Ravencraig steel coils.
Bidston to Wrexham is the most reliable rail service I have ever used, as well as being a serenely attractive route to travel on. I started using it pretty much every Saturday when I came back to Merseyside in 1979, but I spent my very early childhood in Upton (up to 1965) and I have some vague memories which might not be accurate. Does anyone know if it was possible to get a direct train from Upton to Chester at that time? I faintly remember being taken on that trip.
Thanks Craig, you've answered a question that's been in the back of my head for several decades! That is interesting about Northgate Station. I have often walked down Victoria Road with the railway running beneath it but I didn't know there had been a station adjacent.
Enjoyed the video very much, but have to disagree with one comment. If a lower quadrant signal becomes disconnected, the weight of the spectacle casting is sufficient to maintain it at danger, even if it is disconnected from the counterbalance.
