Medway, my old stomping ground, I used to live just up the road from Gillingham train station when i was a kid. The amount of development around Rochester is staggering, i always remembered the Saturday market in the large car park you could look down on from the railway line. Sadly long gone

If I was in that cab, I would have had to wedge a bit of cardboard in whatever is rattling !!! LOL

Ah, my 'home railway' (so to speak) for more than a quarter of a century now, so I am very familiar with most of this stretch of line, and beyond up to London.

Good stuff. I'd no idea that Gillingham, Chatham and Rochester were effectively all one. Not that the locals see it that way, I'm sure... Perhaps the LCDR thought that Horton Kirby sounds like it ought to be up north somewhere (as it certainly does)!
