Cabbage vada/cabbage fritters/ cabbage ambado is a deep fried dish which has a crispy crunchy outer layer and is soft inside. This dish is very popular among the GSB konkani community. We serve cabbage vada with rice as it is spicy and yummy to eat with rice. It's also delicious to eat it as a snack without any side dishes.
I have used ten dried red chillies of which two were small.
Tips:
1. You should be careful when you add water while grinding because if you add more water it will be watery and you will not be able to form the shapes. Just add one or two tablespoon of water.
2. You should grind it coarsely.
3. Do not store the batter in the fridge as it consumes more oil when you fry.
4. In case the batter becomes a little watery you can add rice flour. But for best results I recommend to be careful while adding water.
5. You can use chana dal/ split chickpeas instead of tur dal.
