Best thing to do is get some good mapping and sonar capabilities. There's 12 miles of reef north and south of the jetty. All of it holds fish. You just need to start exploring along the reef until you see fish on the instrument. Mark the spot for the future and start fishing. Good luck and keep in touch...

@@kingslew1866 so the reef you speak of is 12 miles up and down the coastline of Newport? About how far from the shoreline and approximate depth?

On absolutely good weather days... days with a capital "G", yes. It just depends upon your experience with changing ocean conditions and what you're willing to risk...

King Slew what do you look for when determining a Good day. What kind of swell and wind should I wait for and am I better off early morning usually?

@@JAdame24 As a rule, earlier is better as wind tends to come up in the PM. But, you have to watch the big tide exchanges as well. Generally speaking, a CG Bar Report of JETTY TIPS: 1-3 FOOT LONG OCEAN SWELLS, MAIN CHANNEL: 1-3 FOOT LONG OCEAN SWELLS and winds under 10 MPH is a go day...

Pretty much. Even though rated for five people, boat is too small for more than one, as far as I'm concerned. Plus, when I go fishing, I'm interested in fishing, not socializing. I've made a very few exceptions for very special people...
