When buying property rights in New Mexico, always have the property surveyed by a licensed surveyor and a quitclaim issued to and signed by all adjacent landowners before finalizing the purchase. This is essential to prevent property boundary disputes due to old crooked fence lines-especially in mountainous terrain-which were constructed out of alignment either by accident or on purpose. Without the survey and quitclaim you will have no legal leg to stand on to defend your property boundaries.

Loved your excitement. We bought land and built a vacation cabin near Red River in 1991. We love the area as well. We sometimes take a trash bag with us and clean the trails or along a road when we're hiking. Sadly the tourists and the locals don't have the appreciation they should for the natural beauty around them. Thank you for your videos. Well done my friend!

Hope you love N. New Mexico as much as I do! Made the decision 13 years ago to leave Washington state. For the beautiful valley of ANGEL FIRE. The skiing, golfing, fishing, hiking, and now adventure touring on my Triumph Tiger 955i . The dirt and gravel roads/trails are not for cruisers or bobbers. But there are a ton of great places to load up and explore. You’ll definitely enjoy this place. Hope to see you around. Tim

Hello Friends! It probably goes without saying that this is a huge development for me. And, because this adventure is about 2 weeks old, I will share that I have officially relocated to New Mexico! The property should close escrow in the next two weeks. Even if it doesn't, I am sold on the region and am already getting integrated into the community with BIG plans. If anyone is interested in talking to Gabriel about the area, I encourage you to connect with him. I get NOTHING other than good vibes from him for your referral. When we were looking for a place to buy for our retirement I never saw this area. We were living in Denver for a couple of years looking for a place, finally settled for a place near Las Vegas because it was very cheap and near my son in Santa Fe. If I had seen the Red River/Angel Fire area I probably would have wanted to locate there but it is an extra 2 hours from my grandson and son. It very nice that this area is close to me. The rivers are really pretty. Love it. I've never been to Taos.

I used to go more regular. The last time i was there in 2003. Ive been reading about skiing Taos since my teen years. Ski magazines have always portrayed Taos Ski Valley Bavarian outpost, a mystical secret spot and an extreme skiers paradise. I found it to be all that and more. I can’t wait to return. Glad it was helpful! I wouldn't worry about Monsoons. I have lived in the Southwest for 32 years and monsoons have never caused more than a few damaged trees from high winds once in a while. Having said that, don't find yourself hiking in or driving through a wash during a storm as washes fill with water (the way they are supposed to) during storms. Monsoon season is my favorite season in the SW. Beautiful storms, thunder, and the smell of wet creosote is signature for the season.

Scott, I sure enjoyed your video. I love NM and Colorado as well. I lived in Santa Fe a couple of years back in the 80's, but it was just too expensive there even back then. Now it's ridiculously expensive. I bought property in Pagosa Springs because I love the outdoors, the hot springs and skiing at Wolf Creek. My closest friend lives south of Chama. I almost bought property there, but it is just too isolated. Thank you for your land stewardship. I have picked up hundreds of pounds of garbage left by uneducated humans that have no respect for Mother Earth. When I lived in Central Oregon (20 years), I often picked up enough beer cans and bottles to pay for another 6 pack. Every bottle or can there was worth a 5 cent refund. I too looked at property around Taos, Angel Fire, & Red River (outrageously expensive), but I couldn't find anything affordable without restrictions or an HOA payment that was an arm and a leg. Good luck on your new home.
@4XPEDITION

May I ask why you chose NM over AZ? We have been watching your channel for a while now and you inspired us to actuallly consider AZ as a place to relocate to. We have been camping for many years all over AZ. We love the Sedona area, but there are no good hospitals for my wife who works as a Nurse Practitioner, so we are thinking about the surrounding Tuscon area or Phoenix outskirts, but pricey for what it is and not as green as Tucson. Tucson area seems to have some green nature with some nice lots near Vail, Marana, etc.. We started looking in Bozeman, then Boise and we are now considering Arizona, but we love the forest and need to be near a very good hospital. You're cabin looks great! Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

@4XPEDITION 2 года назад
Hi Robert. Thanks for watching the channel. Arizona population has boomed in the past 15 years and for good reason. Because so, many people are making their way into areas that used to be seldom visited. After living there for 32 years, I felt it was time to find a new place to explore. Plus, the cost of living in Arizona has risen. New Mexico is still a state with a small population and, being the second poorest state in the US, the cost of living and land is better. I wanted a mountain property in the forest. Arizona has quite a bit, but again, the cost is rising. I felt NM was a place I could get what I wanted and still be within a day's drive to the warm winter climate of the Arizona desert.

As a strange turn of events, today, I was invited to go on a Jeep rally in the mountains around Red River. The organizer of the event invited me to ride along with him. Turns out, he is on the crew for the mine remediation and explained to me the measures Chevron has gone the lengths of to ensure that water is as clean as possible...primarily having to do with very expensive filtration systems for all run-off from that mine. Pretty crazy that you mentioned this and today I was in that conversation front and center.
@rt3box6tx74

@@4XPEDITION I'm sure the remediation group is doing their best... but look up at that rockslide waiting to happen, as you travel from RR to Questa. It drains straight into the river alongside the highway. I'm not sure if that mine can still be viewed from Google Earth or if it's blocked now. A cpl decades ago I spent days exploring the mine sight. My RR neighbor's son worked there. I believe he maintained the pipeline, then went to diesel mechanic's school to learn heavy equipment repair. He applied for a job with the shutdown team but wasn't hired.

I would love to be in Northern New Mexico or Colorado and that’s the reason I won’t ever live in those states… being in a liberal state in Northeast I’m looking to get out so bad getting so expensive in all aspects and people here…. I’ll go to Idaho if I have to get away from nonsense

Ha! Idaho. Good luck getting property there. The majority of the land is national forest making the cost of property there $$$. Not to mention the influx of Californians moving there with deep pockets.
