Bought this, love the color, had 2 layers of solid colored stain on the deck, sprayed it with cleaner/remover and pressure washed it, let it dry overnight and stained. I love this stuff😍. Since I couldn't get some of the old stain off around the edges, this stuff looks great, perfectly imperfect, with shaded effect where the paint was.

Hey Kent! I'm looking at the Cabot's Oil too. The primary ingredients are linseed oil, tung oil and long-alkyd oils. The VOC is within legal limits of 250g/liter. The other product I'm looking into is Rubio Monocoat which is also a vegetable based hard wax that, like Cabot's, molecularly bonds with the wood but has 0 VOC. Rubio is designed for wood floors and has an accelerant that makes it cute in 24 - 36 hours with only one coat! Once a year, you mop on a maintenance coat which dries out in a few hours and it should last between 5 and 20 years based on your lifestyle. It's much more expensive though. I paid $65 for 20 ml walnut tint plus accelerant. I refinished my dining table and have 3/4 of it left.

Definitely looks shinier than satin, but guessing it dulled down about as it fully cured. Seems like it would be slippery when wet, any experience with that?

Did you sand between coats? Looks very nice. I’m using Cabot Gold sunlit walnut on my screened porch.

No sanding between coats. Of course, if the job were to sit for many days, more than 7, then sanding would be necessary.

@@KentSchneeveis Thanks for feedback. It's been 48 hours and we now have rain in the forecast for next 4-5 days. So we'll see how it turns out. Hope to get lucky before 7th day for period without rain. Your video was helpful, nonetheless. I plan to post a video of mine once through as well, as I couldn't find a lot of Cabot Gold videos specifically.

This can be hard to find. Check paint stores. Sometimes Kelly Moore will stock Cabot

Why did you say this product is only sold in quarts in California? We live in Rohnert park and just bought 4 one gallon cans yesterday at lowes for $49 each gallon. Your customer got screwed if you charged them $35 per quart

looks really nice keeping the rustic look, that one can went a long way for 2 coats and very glossy, was that the gloss finish straight from the tin of the fire side cherry or did you clear varnish over it, maybe i missed that bit. also loved the wear and tear test at the end was a true gold moment. thanks mate 🦘🦘
