I live in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. I've owned "Cache Lake Country" for decades. Much of what is described in this book is around here on Lake Superior's shore. Initially, I was ready to jump all over this Brit with his book review. After all, he isn't from around here so what does he know? Turns out, this book review is accurate with excellent summations. Well done!
I bought this book a few months ago based on your recommendation and will be reading it once I get two others out the way. Really good to see you posting videos again and really hoping to see a lot more from you this year as am genuinely missing your presence ~Peace~
Thanks for sharing your views on the book. A lot of hard-earned wisdom in such books. Looking forward to the follow-up videos on how you link it to your outdoor experiences. For me, living in the southern fringes of the great North Woods (we even dither about whether its North Woods or Northwoods) it has always been nice to have books that speak of a geography that is familiar and accessible, rather than adventures set in far-flung and exotic places. I enjoy the latter, but to have great writing about my own back yard brings the stories close to the heart as well as the imagination.
As you know brother this is also my favourite book! What a fantastic review and I truly hope as many people as possible go and get a copy!!! Awesome man All the best Danny
My "Comfort Food Book" since High-school 40 years ago. I read it every winter. A little hobby I have is trying to find it's actual location in Northern Ontario and I've never been able to do it. If anyone has any idea, please publish it here.
Always looking for new books to look at. I too have gone from the more modern stuff to looking at something a little more traditional like the Sears, Kreps stuff so it will be good to have a look at something different. :) Thanks for the reccomendation
My father read me this book over a few years during my childhood. It probably had a lot to do with the hobbies I've chosen as an adult. Great book, and glad you liked it!

It is a good book one I think everyone should read, we can get to caught up in the how to with this knit or that knot, this flask or that one Rather than just enjoy Thank you Happy trails

cheers for the review Paul, i'll let you know how I get on with it in the coming months. Looking forward to following your journey through 2015. atb Richie.
Great book and Great review. Unfortunately, one would only be able to do what he did if they were a single childless man. Although the freedom would be soothing to the mind, body and soul, I wouldn’t trade my family for it. I too was born in 1975.
I love this book as well for the same reasons. You'd like this one then....Two Little Savages; Being the Adventures of Two Boys Who Lived as Indians and What They Learned. Written and Illustrated by Ernest Thompson Seton. Enjoy.
