I had never heard of this band when my boyfriend first played this album for me one night. My first thought was "How can the Rock & Roll world be so ignorant as to ignore such a fantastic hard rock group like this "? These guys could just rock your socks ( and mind ) off !! Simply the best ever live.
I went through 3 Ot and sweaty albums as a teenager. The ultimate party album. Over the top guitar, Carmen and Tim just jaw dropping, keys and vocals deluxe .Wish I would have seen these guys live.
We recorded this Album live on stage at the Mar Y Sol Festival, Puerto Rico, the other studio side of Ot N Sweaty was recorded at Jimi Hendrix's Studio New York.
I seen Cactus & Brownsville Station in 1972 in Asheville, North Carolina. I was living in Black Mountain at the time. It was Sex, Drugs & Rock 'N' Roll. Both bands were fantastic.
Yes I knew immediately that this wasn't McCarty as I'm a McCarty deciple/Werner was good with the band as well- but I don't think many photos of this lineup exist/ if any !!!###
The riff ending the solo at 7:38 is in my opinion one of the tastiest pieces in rock guitar. Not to mention the full on intensity and tightness of the rest of the band!
Saw this album in , I'm not really sure, '72 or '73 in the recordstore, never heard of Cactus before, but side 1 wow, even now 51 years later it's still great, love it. As far as I know there was always a small group of people in the Netherlands who knew Cactus, and did they missed something.
Led Zeppelin on steroids by far! Wish I was born early enough to see them or jam with them as a guitarist myself. Rusty inspired me to pick up the harmonica too!
Saw them around the same time when Redbone opened and an intact Allman Brothers Band closed the show. It was a radio station promotion and tickets were $3.50/$4.00/and $4.50 !!! Cactus was the best blues/rock band ever who never got their just dues-but then again many of the best groups never did !!!###
This live recording was done at a mobile studio on site at the Mar Y Sol Festival Puerto Rico, I am not sure if it was with the rolling Stones mobile unit, real glad to hear that you dug the music, Peter French.
@@FRENCHPF I'm a journalist here in Puerto Rico. Mostly sports but also music. Would love it if I could contact you to ask a few questions about Mar y Sol. I know the two photographers who covered the festival for my newspaper, El Nuevo dia. I've also followed your career since Leafhound and the Rooster. My e-mail is ceuyoyi@hotmail.com.
