Pity the turbo went, I had a diesel Yaris use its oil as fuel, that ended very badly, lucky it was under manufacturers warranty. You look pretty handy with that laptop, a man of many talent's. You're a stand up guy for buying your customer's taxi, not many people would have done that.... 👍
Thanks Phil.. most people don’t know how to stop the engine once it goes but stick it in 5th gear, hold the brake and let the clutch out it soon stalls. I phoned the remap man so I was sort of responsible for the customers taxi so I took it on the chin, it does make you look at jobs differently as any mistakes you make cost money so I now do my best to avoid situations like that. 👍
Thanks sir had a few similar comments so will make a video appreciate your feedback. I’ve blown a few turbo’s in my time on these they are pushed high from the factory and is the only weak point.
I’m binging on your playlists Nathan 👌🏻up to date on the transporter and currently going through the caddy build, loving your style and input into the video content. I heard you mention a transit connect in one of your caddy videos early on, which is a shame for me personally, whilst I’ve got mates with caddy’s and love to see what can be done with them, I have a mk2 connect so would have loved to see you working on one to the depths that you are with your caddy. Thinking on it, if you know of any channels that do your type of thing but with a connect I’d love to have a butchers. Apart from that, again, great content, love watching your stuff, all the best to you and yours mate. 👍🏻

I was exactly the same as you absolutely loved my mk5 golf but wanted a bigger boot for activities and I’m really happy with it, drives very similar to a golf to 👍👍

Ahh mate gutted, suppose now it’s an excuse of a bigger turbo and more boost. I had my bxe mkv golf mapped a few months back and in the last few weeks it’s been whining like a supercharger lol don’t recon it will be long before she goes. Have got a gt1749vb of a arl 150 so should be a fun swap just need to order the flange from dark side as The turbo currently uses a vband downpipe. Great video as always.
Yes I was hoping it would last abit longer 😂. Yes that’s exactly the noise of worn turbo I was going to try make the noise in the video but didn’t want to sound stupid. I ran the same map with a VB turbo and it held the power no problem 👍 get it fitted before your brakes.
Feel for you Nathan although couldn't help but laugh, definitely want a video on the turbo as might have to do it on my Eos, was going to say you could map mine but totally understand.
Hey Nigel thank you 👍 yep I had to laugh myself as I couldn’t believe how quick what I said would happen 😂. Had a few similar comments so hopefully it made good content. I’m sure you know by now I’m as open and honest as possible on the channel so even if I make mistakes I’ll post it and hopefully people can learn from my mistakes. Where abouts are you from Nigel? The error I made with my remap was I used a generic remap, the safest way to do it is download your map then send to a reputable company and they will only tune it to within its limits.
@@YTDTETV yes that's why I love the channel, there's no bs just honest as they come, I'm based in Nottinghamshire, always a bit wary of remap companies due to the reason you encountered but would love a nice little remap to make it a bit more peppy.

Interesting I have the same engine in a mkv its been remaped for almost 10 years never had an issue only blew a boost pipe off, easy fix. I have driven it like I stole it for the best part of that maybe I'm really lucky I remeber asking for a popcorn limiter but it wasnt yet done on the bkd so I had to wait for my mapper to develop it.
Hey bud 👍 so the map I uploaded was a generic map done by a cowboy I take it your map was done by a proper tuner and that makes a massive difference on how long they survive. My golf has popcorn and it does sound good. I have a video short on my channel showing the golf popcorn limiter 👍
@@YTDTETV yeah it was live mapped on the road, every other popcorn limiter I hear on the BKD bounces back and forth very fast which for me having lived with mine for all this time just sounds odd as my limiter is slower to bounce back and forth making it sound more natural and I get the odd crackel from the exhaust.
@@YTDTETV well if it helps it was a company calles West Yorkshire Tuning that did mine it was a long time ago so he might not be around anymore but worth a shout of you get stuck as honestly its been flawless on economy and performance I really want a caddy with a bkd engine I imagine it feels much better its the only thing that puts me off getting a caddy needs to be 14bhp standard for me and then mapped to 180
very unlucky, seemed to be boosting lovely before hand, you going for the same turbo setup thats on the golf eventually ? I had a man test driving an I40 I had in stock last month, was driving perfect, he took it up the road and it started running on its own oil at 45mph, very lucky it didnt blow, he hung it just in time. I took the turbo off and the exhaust side had completely fell apart, bouncing about the place lol.. Looking forward to seeing how this one looks 👍
Hey bud yes I was very happy the first couple of times on throttle 😂. They are well known for liking a new turbo and I did know it was already noisy. I might go one step further and just nick the turbo and Downpipe off the golf then stick the slightly bigger turbo in the golf. Would save me around £500 and I have it literally sat there, that’s a Sneek peek into turbo video 👍

Yes, obviously that’s why you had the white smoke and when mine went, there was no smoke, but it filled my DPF up and had to have it. Professionally cleaned is there. is there a bypass kit you can buy when removing DPF obviously would Haft to have it deleted as well with laptop do you appreciate you getting back to me on the first question and to love what you have done with the caddy I’ve had several mark one caddys and loved them, but there’s just no room inside the cab. Thank you for your time.
@@scatmanjohn895 that’s right if you get the dpf deleted then the ecu needs a remap, after having it done the engine is a lot happier and really good on fuel so it is worth doing. Thank you this is my first caddy, but small for a camper but you could do the odd overnighter.
I got my remap done by xtreme.tuning in the Midlands, 104bhp to 150bhp and it drives nice! Any reason why you used an old map file, I was told its good to get new custom file specifically for my Caddy (they sent off the file for mapping)? Love the videos, been following the full build.
@@dandanyeah5342 blimey you proper done it then, just need to get all the bits out of pipe work and intercooler etc as one little piece then takes out the next turbo.. I’ve done that to 🙈
Hi, sorry if you already mentioned it but at what pressure was the turbo running at stage 1? I have an A4 2.0TDI BLB running at 1.5bar of boost on factory 1749VA turbo with EGR/DPF delete, what power do you reckon its making right now? Also, which turbo you think would be the best for around 230hp with full spool that is around the stock rpm?
Hi Daniel, 1.5 bar is about as much as I would run through a va. I’d say with you setup it’s prob around the 185 mark. For 230 hp you can just get a hybrid which is basically your turbo with a bigger compressor wheel. It’s what we fitted to sams Leon that on the channel. It went very well.

@DTE TV hi mate. Had it done and it'd mental but the clutch, as expected, isn't loving it one bit. Any recommendations on what clutch it needs? And even though its irrelevant if you can give me a rough idea of price that would be appreciated
I've had a few pd 130 and bkd 140 never heard the 140 make the coo sound always the 130 seem to make the sound literally just picked a caddy 2k with the bls engine in two minds on what engine to swap either gti or the bmn anyone got any advice or opinions 🤔
This pd140 makes a really loud coo maybe a sign the turbo was just about to fail. I’ve not played with a bmn engine before is that the pd170? If so I know they have there very own set of injectors that are specifically for that. They have a slightly bigger turbo to.
@@YTDTETV I think I'm going to bkd swap I'm gutted really had my mk5 gti stollen 3 weeks ago so going from 300 plus brake to 104 bhp downhill it's horrible I thought it was in limpmode 🤣🤣 and yea its the 170 I had one before hybrid turbo etc it flew but the injectors used to go so really just want a straight forward easy swap glad I found your chanel keep up the sick content 👍
@@golf-vi2cw ah man sorry to hear that.. cor that’s a down grade in power I bet it feels like walking speed. Yes I think that’s the downside to the pd170 is the injectors, they max out at almost the same as the pd140’s 150’s and there as as many around to get spares for. My mk5 golf is what made me appreciate the BKD’s as it is brilliant yes the early one suffer head failure but if mine goes I’ll just replace the head. Really appreciate your comments 👍 keep me updated how you get on.

I’ll tell you exactly what happened there…. you didn’t touch any wood after saying you can blow standards parts up after a remap 😂 Definitely tempted fate and the plastic interior had no wood to touch!
