Cade Cunningham recently was extended a max contract which many fans were happy to see, but some were not. To those who were not happy with the Pistons buying into Cade long term, I wanted to explain why I think he is fully worth it.
This channel is ran by a former NBA 2K streamer who has been a life long Detroit
Pistons fan who will be making videos about the team heading into the 2024-2025 NBA season under Trajan Langdon and a new coach.

I've always liked Cade. His injuries have become a concern, but I'm hoping that is behind him and that our conditioning staff can help keep him (and the other guys) in tip-top shape. If he gets stronger (which should happen), turns the ball over less, and becomes more consistent with his outside shot (especially from three point range), he will become the superstar we all expected him to be when he was drafted first overall. I'd like to see his defense get better too. It's a different era, but when Bird joined the Celtics, he improved their win total by 32 as a rookie!! Only piece that changed was him. So he took a sorry team and made them good simply by his own game. Cade is not that type of player. He doesn't make the whole team better just by being on the floor. Can he become that sort of player? I think he can, but only if he continues to improve, and stays healthy. I'm in it for the long haul, and wish him the best. He's my current favorite Piston.

I think Trajan Langdon came in and immediately had a gameplan with Cade. Lock him up long-term, and surround Cade with actual NBA talent. With actual NBA players, and not glorified two-way guys and unproven rookies, Cade will FINALLY get a chance to really cook now that he's healthy.

Get him a competent roster that at least gets him into the play-in add in playing over 70+ games the average fans view on him will change. He’s gonna cement himself as a top 15 player this year

We are in lock step with cade . He 100 percent is gonna be a superstar as long as his health holds out . He could be a 30ppg guy if thats what you need he could be a 27 an 10 guy if thats what you need he can be a 25 7 an 7 guy if thats what you need. Ive been pushing this narrative for a year almost . His stats are as good or better than everyones 3rd yeat and if you consider its year 2 hes better . Period.

People seem to forget that Cade had multiple 30 point games without getting any free throws Cade of started game with 3 sometimes 4 none shooters on the floor Cade was often the victim of blitzing with double and tripped He was 25 in that category and didnt have a reliable scoring partner And also this team lack a pf that can score the basketball butter fingers beef stew needed to take more shots he average 7.3 shots and attempted 3.8 3pt per game and made 1.3 Its not a cade problem cade managed 7.5 assist with non shooters that could have been 10 assist and averaged 22.7 points per game which is good for 21 overall in the nba

In a few years Cade will be a 30 point shooter but if you watch the pistons you may think he’s a bust cause the shots he misses and he’s a 1 overall pick but he was a good pick and he can learn from our experienced guys like malik thj and tobias

He just needs to work on cutting down his turnovers and getting quicker as far as pushing the ball up the floor. If he gets the shooting from the outside, he should get better. He has improved every year as far as shooting. I still think he's better as a SG.

Team got better winning percentage without him and better offense and defense numbers
@michaelahurt
@michaelahurt 3 месяца назад
Yes but that's a red herring like the Spurs having a better defense without Kawhi Leonard in 2017 The big thing is the offense Monty ran Go back and rewatch the Charlotte, Washington and OKC games from late January. You can clearly see the differences in the offense with and without Cade. And especially watch the Cleveland game after OKC and you'll notice Monty realized his mistake and kept a lot of the principles he was using when Cade was out, using more movement and attacking from different places For whatever reason he didn't think he needed to help Cade and the offense was very stagnant and predictable. Very James Harden circa 2016 That's fine if you have good shooters but because of the lineups around him Cade was basically running into a brick wall every play The team shot 33% when it was just Cade but 36% when it was just Ivey. (And shot 53% from two vs 51%) You're technically right that the offense was better without Cade but that's mostly just shooting variance and coaching Although Ivey and Cade are closer than most people would admit because how much pressure Jaden puts on defenses

@@michaelahurt Cade was over dribbling dribbling in traffic holding Ball too long slowing down pace make unexcusable passes and gassing out late he needs to be held accountable
@michaelahurt
@michaelahurt 3 месяца назад
@@Jamar-lg9ob Over dribbling because there was no one to pass to though. That will go away with better players who he trusts. You can tell the difference between someone not seeing a pass and someone deciding not to throw it. Cade looked off guys a lot last year hoping against hope he could find something better. The conditioning can definitely improve. The pace isn't a huge concern long-term for me because I've seen players and teams be intentional about it and change mid-career or even mid-series. Most recently Luka. The biggest problem he has is defeating traps. He's too passive. You don't see skip passes enough, he doesn't do the Luka thing where he snaps passes from over his head, he doesn't move the ball quickly and he doesn't hit that Steph pocket pass into space I also want to see him working off ball more often even if it's just to run a PnR He definitely has a lot of things to work on

@King_Lou96
@King_Lou96 3 месяца назад
U have to look at what's around him brother. With proper spacing he is going to only get better with less TO's because he will only have to worry about beating his man or a double occasionally instead of triple teams where he is kicking out to non shooters. He is efficient with a bad offensive set up that works against him. Imagine one that actually utilizes his strengths. A lineup up of cade, Hardaway, Simone, Tobias and Stew will have the floor completely spaced. They won't start this lineup but it's a lineup that can be run with all 36-38 percent shooters around him. This next season will be interesting under a coach who actually wants to be here with something to prove.
@KennyMoe7mile

@@King_Lou96 maybe so but Cade just doesn't do one thing exceptionally well. Seems more of role player at best. We will soon see with these upgrades how he does. However, this up coming season is make or break for him to me. He lacks conviction too it's almost like he doesn't want to be great
@King_Lou96
@King_Lou96 3 месяца назад
@@KennyMoe7mile I respect your opinion but I have to disagree. I see the want to be great in cade and I've seen greatness from him. He does everything well and I'd say he is a great scorer with great playmaking instincts he just needs a competent roster around him instead of Killian Hayes sitting at the 3 with his match up selling out on cade. He passed the eye test for me in his 3rd season (2nd really). It's everyone else I'm curious about like what ivey will be and if asuar and holland can learn to shoot and can duren become a good rim protector as well as develop a 15 footer. Cade I have no questions about it's the rest of the young core for me I'm unsure about.

In what context? That he hasn't lived up to expectations? He was overhyped vs how good he was? He wasn't the best prospect in his own class? He's definitely in the lower end of #1 picks this century. Probably only ahead of Risacher, Wiggins, Bennett, Bargnani, Bogut, Kwane, K-Mart and Ayton. Then you had Edwards, Fultz, Howard (and Mobley) in the same tier ... So you're talking 40th-50th percentile in terms of the top top guys but still 99th percentile overall That said there's really no reason he shouldn't be as good as Devin Booker which is a top 10-15 type guy and someone who made an NBA Finals.

@@KennyMoe7mile how many guys in the NBA do you think are better mid-range scorers and PnR playmakers? If you're in the 95th percentile of all NBA players in something doesn't that mean you do it exceptionally well? You're talking about him like he's Saddiq Bey
