Certified Pinoy Technically he hasn’t been convicted of anything yet And also there is no proof My friend said there is a possibility a group of cadets alumni came together and fabricated stories to get Hopkins fired which is possible But I believe he is guilty
@@sterlingpinoymaybe. Maybe not. Unless you have first hand knowledge, it’s not for you to decide. One thing that is a fact is he produced one hell of a drum corps year after year.
this should have been a documentary on Discovery..i stumbled on this video..do not know these kids..this group..but I can say I had tears watching these great people express themselves with unabashed tears of joy and sorrow that this journey is over for some of them...this is what hard work..team work..and love for the group is all about! Bravo...
It basically is now! Go check out Clash of the Corps! It's a season long documentary of drum corps! This season's featuring Blue Devils and The Cadets!
One of the tech in my band showed us this video. This is bascially what it means to be in Marching Band. Whether you win or lose, you'll walk off that field knowing that your run was the best god damn run you've had all season.
One of my bands former Visual Techs was in this video. Teaching us he seems strict and tough. In this video, it's kinda nice to see a different side of him. See some vulnerability from him. And I can honestly say he made me a much better marcher.
It's So Hard To Say Good Buy To Yesterday!!! It's a shame that not only the Cadets folded but let's not ever forget All the great performers throughout the decades these kids deserves praise I feel bad for the future kids that will never experience being a cadet Holy Name Forever!!!😢
What a great video, this is what Drum Corps is about. I can remember my first finals night. Finished the show with tears in my eyes. I couldn't explain it. An overwhelming flow of emotions that was uncontrollable. At that moment everything you have worked for is done. You will never march that show, with those people, ever again. I went through all of spring training with The Cadets and marched 10 shows before I was sent home with three broken bones in my feet. Oh how I longed to end a finals night in a Cadet uniform...
Seeing this video only fuels the sadness inside in knowing I miss my opportunity to march junior corps back in the 90s. I had my eye on marching with Cadets or Madison Scouts but didn't have the family support back then and by the time I had the opportunity I no longer qualified due to my age. For years, I carried on this regret of not being a part of this organization until this past summer when someone sent me a message in regards to Drum Corp Associates, which I never heard of, I was told it's a organization of many corps with no age outs. I quickly did my homework and I am happy to say I now have a chance to march Drum Corps as I will be auditioning for Atlanta CV next month for the 2016 season. This will be a dream come true to finally fulfill a dream I've waited for years to accomplish but felt hope was forever lost until I was told about DCA. I now hope to feel the emotion and excitement of what I've witness from this video, going in for the 2016 marching season.
+Solofyd CV is a remarkable organization and I hope you have a successful camp weekend coming up. Our son marched with them the last two seasons and we got to see from inside how well they run things and put a competitive product on the field.
Kevin Garrett Thank you and yes auditions are this upcoming weekend, I am very excited and a little nervous at the same time, I've waited my whole life for this and the moment is finally here. Will your son be at audition camp this weekend ?
+Solofyd he may drop by but he got a contract to march with Madison Scouts next summer. He's very quick to give credit to staff and marching members at CV for helping him get ready. You'll have a good time I'm sure as everyone there is great! Nervous is good, means you care and are ready to get going!
Kevin Garrett That's very cool, I miss my opportunity to march with Madison Scouts and Atlanta CV and other DCA Corps are the only ones I am qualified to join due to my age. I am definitely looking forward to the experience. If I make it, I am sure your son and I will be competing at Championships during labor day weekend but in different Corps and Class.
+Solofyd That would be neat! I missed my shot at marching Cadets back in '87 so I know the feeling. I did get to march 3 years of Sunrisers though so that was cool in itself. Drum corps is drum corps and I think you'll like your time at CV. Best of luck this weekend!
Man, I cried right along with those kids! This is why I love drum corps, not just the Cadets (although they are my favorite). The passion, the commitment, the dedication and when it all pays off...the emotion! Terrific video!!!
This is exactly why I march. For this exact moment. All that practice pays off. This is what people don't get. They always ask why do you march what's so great about it. This is why it's so great.
Man, that def made me tear up. I never had the chance to march in a corps, but it took me back to my HS days when we earned first amongst 25 bands and those feelings and emotions def came back.
Congratulations to all who have been a cadet! This video captures what it is all about... dedication, emotion and hard work, what a great great job to all!!!!
You know just when I think there’s nothing left in this world I see something so beautiful and it brings tears to my eyes I wish more people could be exposed to all this hard work and dedication these young men and women put in I don’t think you could truthfully capture the emotion and motivation it Takes in words it’s something you have to experience for yourself
i just sat there and cried with them. like a freakin baby. i know i'll never join the cadets, i'm with pacific crest for sure, but i want this so bad. i need it.
That was the last Gold that was not only deserved by the corps, but by the fans of the corps.... in a really long time. they truly put their hearts this show, and they honestly didn't really care if they came out 1st in the end or not. anymore corps just play for gold. I guess that isn't necessarily a bad mindset but they can remember to learn their priorities: Why are they there in the first place? My guess is to march.
@lindsey nath: Do it. The only thing stopping you is you. So, decide to do it and let nothing stop. Do whatever it takes and you'll always be glad you did.
thatoneguy285 you should’ve made finals this year. Idk what was up with finals this year, a handful of groups I’d switch out for you guys in a heartbeat
I work in economic development for the state of Connecticut. This show and this group of people continues to have incredible influence. Much of it was luck beyond the individual - we had an excellent show from the start, excellent instructors, and excellent leadership. Things you can’t influence when you’re a member. But, you still need the individual responsibility to be able to capitalize on the luck. “Know when you’re lucky.” This show became an obsession because we were all so passionate about perfecting it. So, I look for things I can be passionate about, and I try to assemble the ability to obsess over it. It won for us in 2011, and I think it’s a winning formula elsewhere. - 2011 Bass 6
When your band director could've been there marching in prelims, semis and for finals plus retreat but a contra player rammed into him and dislocated his jaw because he didn't pay attention to the instructed drill mid-season
