The moment you realize that bass lines that play like this are rare... This group played with their souls you can feel the the hard work and connection... Daaaaam
The tuning makes for incredible playing possibilities, absolutely incredible and mind-boggling; out on the field their sound is lost. I miss the projection and beautiful omniscient tone of the older basses, they drove the whole corps. These drums could qualify as baritone drums, it could be cool to add real bass drums to the line!
@@tambourvideo I agree that these may be a little too high, but as bass drum music continues to evolve and the splits get crazier, it's better to have them tuned higher so you can hear everything hit better. It really depends on what the line is playing when it comes to how low or high they're tuned IMO.
I've been out of the DCI game for over a decade - what's up with some Corps utilizing oddly sized bass drums now? 4th bass is the same size as 2nd bass but tuned lower - 5th bass looks like a 3rd bass. Did I miss out on something? Edit: Maybe it was my perspective - at another angle 4th bass looks slightly larger than 2nd bass, but 3rd bass is definitely an inch smaller than 2nd bass.
Optical illusion caused by a number of factors (camera angle, lens aperture, external muffling foam, etc). The drums are all different sizes, but without any skipped "in between" sizes. They're so close in size, that it's difficult to see the difference. Look at the font sizes and how much is covered by the foam from drum to drum and you'll notice subtle differences. Also, bass 1 and 2, you can see a clear difference with mounting of the emblem on the shell.
@@fontcaicoya5686 You're welcome. There are some points in the video that if you pause it, the size differences are obvious. Also of note (for anyone insisting that at least the top 3 are the same size), bass 1 is 8 lug. Bass 2-4 are 10 lug. I didn't bother to count the lugs on bass 5 since it's obviously the largest (they might have skipped a size between 4 and 5). Around the 3:30 mark, it's obvious that bass 3 is larger than bass 2.
