Having problems with back ventilation blinds not working! 2019 CT6
@FreakOlds
@FreakOlds 2 года назад
I have a 2016 base with the 3.6, awd and the 8l45 transmission. I picked it up off a lease with 59K on the odometer. It didn’t take long for me to notice the shudder and I had to do some homework before I knew what it was. There’s a class action lawsuit over the transmission and a few TSB’s - the last which is flushing and changing the fluid to the “correct type fluid” - all done on GM’s dime. I had mine serviced and got about 7,000 miles and felt the shudder beginning again so I brought it back. This time they swapped the torque converter and fluid again. I’m over 20K daily driving and that problem is a thing of the past. Fingers crossed it stays that way. Next: the air conditioning. Summer 2020 in July - I come out of work in Manhattan to zero functioning air conditioning. I drove through the Battery tunnel with the commuter busses in traffic. That sucked. Nothing got it to blow cold until I got to Staten Island at home and disconnected my ground on my battery. I did a “hard reset” - everything worked perfect immediately after. But the issue kept happening an I noticed that the temperature gauge on the dash was bottomed to the lowest temperature and the electric cooling fans were on full blast. Every time I did a reset it fixed it but it would happen again at least 3 times a week. All of the Cadillac forums had people saying they went to the dealership and had to get the air conditioning fixed. I wasn’t satisfied because with the reboot it still worked. So I did more homework. As it turns out - the 3.6 (LGX) is also installed in the same year(s) Camaros. The difference is most Cadillac owners probably don’t even open their hoods, nonetheless work on their cars. They bring the car to the dealership. Camaro owners do tend to “play with their cars” I’m a diehard hotrodder! I have big block toys, GM toys, Mopar toys and I like fixing things. So I went to a Camaro forum and there it was in print. The answers to the air conditioning problem. With the LGX 3.6 engine. The thermostat is the problem. If you start your vehicle and drive off and the engine doesn’t get up to temperature within a time threshold your BCM and ECM will think the engine is low on coolant and put the vehicle into a default limp mode. It shuts off the air conditioning and runs the fans. Now for more fun. The thermostat is in between bank 1 & 2 at the bottom of the V , under the intake manifold so it’s a costly repair not recommended for a novice. I have yet to take the time to do the job myself but for the meantime. I run the vehicle with the remote start twice before I go anywhere - EVERY-TIME. I’ve been doing so for almost 2 years and I never have a problem. Sorry for the long winded comment but I hope it helps someone…

@@perrybrown8881 I’m glad this was helpful - if it was. That’s a pretty old comment. I have since fixed the problem. I did it myself and saved $1,000 I replaced the thermostat and the temperature sensor as they’re right next to each other. It did the replacement in September of 2022 and I haven’t had a problem since. I still have the car, it’s got 109,000 miles on it and I’m taking good care of it and intend to enjoy it for years to come. Best of luck with your car 😉👍

I bought a brand new 2017 Cadillac CT6 when I 1st got it I had air conditioning trouble I took it back to the dealership and they Flash it and put new coolant in the system it was blow Cold and it blow hot.. that tells me why no cooling in the system so they done that AC works fine Had a probably with the transmission took in 3 dynastic with some different types of code flush the transmission took again late for transmission again. I have found it necessary to put the AC on "recirculat" when the outside temp is above 100. My Toyota does this automatically but my 18 CT6 doesn't do it automatically and it is normally in "fresh air" unless you manually put it in recirculat. I am in TX and it has been over 100 for weeks.

It depends on year and model of GM vehicle. I had a 2011 Camaro LS (V6) for ten years. Only had to replace the alternator and the battery. Had AC Delco rotors & pads installed and went through two sets of tires. Other than that no real problems with it. I've also owned a 2004 Cavalier coupe, no problems with that car either. The CT6 is really nice but hearing about these issues will probably keep me from buying one. What do you guys think of the 2016 CTS 3.6L? Any thoughts? It's smaller than the CT6 but same or similar engine.

I have had three Cadillac CT6's. 2 2017's each of which never made it to 4000 miles before I got rid of them. Build quality, electrical glitches and the gawdawful 8 speed transmission contributed to the worse new car ownership ever. My 2019 is the identical car with a better 10 speed transmission, which shifts like a normal car. This is an entry level luxury car and cheaply built. In spite of all this, it's a nice looking sedan but loaded with issues that absolutely require bumper to bumper warranty protection.

its not cheaply built, its actually gotten good reviews on its build quality..you want to see cheaply made, look at any Mercedes Benz..the guy who does interior quality reviews right here shows Benz right from brand new are squeaky and creaky... my 16 CT6 had 28000 miles before trading, no issues with any interior trim, and my 17 that i know have is even better
@bill_4888
@bill_4888 2 года назад
@@MJ-hg1mk In order to price this model in the 45-85K range, depending on options, the build quality is a cost saving chevrolet standard with a more appealing design, sound proofing and options/accessory array. They had to cut corners to keep it in the affordable entry level luxury range. The CT6 is certainly more affordable than BMW, Mercedes, Audi, etc models so the build quality is much lower to keep it competitive. It's a nice looking car, but seriously, it can't compare with the brands former days.
@bill_4888
@bill_4888 2 года назад
@@SuperBooboo02 Even the manufacturer agreed and took them back for auction and replaced them with a 2019. The 2019's transmission is normal, though the car has had electrical glitches . . . main wiring harness has been replaced twice. Electrical connections throughout the vehicle will continue to be a challenge. Build quality on one of the 2017's was so bad that the front fender and door clearance at the factory were out of alignment and to be rebuilt at a certifiied auto body shop..... took several weeks. Maybe it was my bad luck to end up with two turds. Cheaply made cars with a wonderful glossy lifestyle magazine and fancy dealerships.
