Fuel Evap Canister vent solenoid failure symptoms, Diagnosis and resolution in detail. P0449 diagnostic trouble code resolution.
P0455 DTC means the hard line between the solenoid and charcoal canister may be cracked, and this video shows how to remove the solenoid and this hard line, so you can inspect and repair it.
Note that this code can be read with a low-cost engine diagnostic and scan tool. The code will clear by itself once the vehicle sees that the solenoid functions properly.
This video applies directly to GM suburban type of vehicles in late 2000, and specifically- the 2007 Cadillac Escalade was repaired in this video. The principles are applicable to any evap vent valve solenoid.
See how to test the solenoid, as it may not be dead, just full of dirt (dust) from the vent line.
See how to understand the wiring back to the solenoid, and test it for proper operation, with simple multi-meter that supports reading voltage and resistance (ohms).
See how to troubleshoot a broken wire from the Power Train Control Module (PCM) or Engine Control Module (ECM)- whichever you want to name it, using simple multi-meter on the Ohms setting.
See where the fuse is located that powers the solenoid.

I've honestly never ever commented on a RU-vid video before in my life, but this is the best self-narrated video I think I've ever watched! You were so detailed about everything and nothing was extra or distractive! I wish every other helpful video on the web used your standards! Well done!

Best video out there on this topic! You are the only one that takes the time to really show how to disconnect GM's crazy connectors. I nearly tore off one of my hoses before I found your video. Great job!

Thanks for taking time to show us all this fix johny. Very uncommon I would assume, but this is great educational information when testing connectors and pins and what to look for when testing solenoids. Thank you very much!

Thanks for such a thorough video. I'm hoping my problem is just the solenoid.

Great video. One of the best and informative ive ever seen. What were the symptoms of this fault? Im having issues with my Escalade dying when you come to a stop. Already replaced the purge valve on the engine, the throttle body, and still having issues. Is also randomly getting hot and transmission running hotter than normal. May be unrealted temp issues but the stalling is a big problem. Sometimes got to wait 20 min or so to start up again

I have a negative pressure of gasoline vapors in the tank, I think it's because of this valve!

I replaced the purge valve and the evap solenoid and I am still getting the same code..I have a 13 Escalade ext. Is there a fuse for my model truck for the solenoid?I checked for TPP fuse and I don't see that on my model.I haven't yet checked constant power yet because I'd like to check for fuse before I buy a VOM.

Hey Johnny...great video. After watching your video i went looking for the ground wire on the passenger side of the engine. I don't have one...there is none dangling or anything. I am at a lost. I have the p0449 code and i checked the to see if i could hear the click and yes after running jumper wires. I haven't checked the wire harness for power yet.

He didn’t mention anything about the passenger side.

This a cool video i wish you would have shown what exactly is pin 61 on that harness however i would have just ran a new wire t tapped from the white wire to the silinoid thru the wire loom down the driver side of the vehicle. easy and time saver

Johnny rocket please help me lol I’ve been chasing p0452 and replaced every component some of them twice. I’m assuming I have a hose issue or wiring issue as the code is fuel tank pressure sensor low voltage and I’m assuming the process will be similar as in this video. Have u had any experience on this problem? 2007 Escalade esv. 110,000 miles

What does this solve exactly? Slow fueling?
