Had my Lyriq for 6 months and LOVE IT! I get compliments daily from all ages. Anyone who rides in it wants one. AKG may not be Bose but sounds great to my ears, I guess I'm not that technical about my music. No issues 6 months in with several long-distance trips. Supercruise is great! The Lyriq hits the luxury sporty sweet spot for me!
I've had mine a little longer, and I'm wondering what this guy was doing to get 2.5 miles per KWH? I've averaged 3.2 since I got mine, and I haven't been cautious with it. I'm wondering if he knows the accelerator pedal doesn't have to be floored or off? There are lots of options in between.
@@scottcarpenter8774 With EVs, it depends entirely on the road conditions where you live, as well as the weather and any kind of gradients or inclines that exist in the road, even slight ones.
I am recently retired. The thought of Cadillac breaking new ground always scares me. But I am old enough to remember such gems as the V8 diesel, V8-6-4, Northstar, HT4100, etc. Stuff marketed at an inflated price that was not the standard of the world. On a side note I began work in civil engineering at a company that designed waste disposal systems. Septic tank abuse has been a thing for many decades.
@@Mr21scott yet this vehicle is the best seller of it’s segment. Yea, *gm* and _Cadillac_ are such “crap” that people rather buy them over any other luxury brand their money could award them. 🙄
It has to be said, the commitment to the septic tank pumping company owner bit, is amazing! Seriously guys, your videos are up there with the best on RU-vid. Sarcastic, funny, and informative.
He’s actually on point! I did websites for a septic cistern manufacturing company once and the owner said “I got shit for blood, son.” 😅 But for them to spend so much time on product positioning as well as sound design is amazing.
It really wasn’t that funny, he actually seems a bit bitter that _Cadillac_ is doing so well in the EV space which is hilarious to watch. He’s basically pouting throughout the review as they both struggle to find faults because the vehicle is designed so well. Bald gentleman just can’t wrap his poor mind around the thought of a Cadillac Lyriq being the best seller in the EV segment. I wonder why that is lol. They’re _clearly_ and obviously *haters* of this vehicle and potentially the entire Cadillac brand.
@@arnoldkintu6124 lol i know it ain’t just me, they always do this. It has that same sad whinny undertone “why would I want a Cadillac” as he pouts throughout the review as he struggles to find faults. He looks the exact same way in the reviews of the Corvette C8. They literally hate to see *gm* do well. It’s sort of satisfying to watch but it’s actually very sad.
@@G-Rated They want to spin a narrative that GM is so terrible, but the sales numbers don’t lie lol. I’ve been looking at EVs this year as my next car. Watched enough reviews of this one & the first gripe I’ve heard is the AC aluminum nobs 😂. IMO , if they work, they work, nobody is going to really just stare at them like that anyway. 🤷🏿♂️
100% agree w/ your assessment. My 70 yo dad LOVES his Lyriq. He wanted an isolation/relaxation cruiser w/ easy step in height and room for his golf clubs. He loves his Lyriq more than this prior lexus rx or 2020 bmw x5. The audio sux, but he doesn't care since he's hard of hearing. and for the low $50k he paid for a lux 2 after discounts and incentives, there's really no other better alternatives.
"I'm a successful businessman with 20 years in the septic tank market and I want a Cadillac. I just wish people took [the credit of their] septic tanks more seriously." As always, an entertaining and informative review. Well done, and thank you.
I think he was wanting to diminish the value of the Cadillac brand with that comment, more so than offend any working men or women in the septic tank business. No one except someone who works in shit all day would want a shitty Cadillac. Very disturbing. I just hope Cadillac sees this review, and stops sending disrespectful platforms like this their products. This is another ‘Out of Spec’ using their expertise to further their own bias with an anti-gm undertone. It’s crazy to me that more aren’t talking about it.
Love this channel and I agree with the general sentiment that much of this class is just more of the same, but I don't think you guys are giving the Lyriq enough credit. Clearly it's doing something right given how well it is selling. Over 3000 Lyriqs sold last month, which is over a third of GM's EV sales, and around a quarter of Cadillac's *total* sales. Not finding a vehicle's appeal doesn't mean it isn't out there. From what I've seen, the two biggest selling points for the Lyriq are the styling and the pricing. Some people hate how it looks, but a lot of people love it, and it's certainly something different from the sea of aerodynamic blobs that is the EV market. With all the incentives and rebates available, the Lyriq undercuts (and outsells) most of its competitors. The fast charging and Super Cruise also don't hurt. The Lyriq isn't a fun to drive enthusiast car like the Blackwings, but it doesn't have to be. It does what it's supposed to do well, and is a pretty big step forward for GM and Cadillac that seems to be paying off based on sales and public image. If quality & interior continue to improve, Cadillac might genuinely have a shot at repairing their image and sales.
Agree with you 100 percent. I like this car, even with the edgy looks. This is a luxury car. I would never consider either of the black wing cars. They are performance cars. If I want performance I would buy Corvette or Porsche. This lyriq is the closest thing to a luxury car Cadillac has made in a long time. It's styling gets it noticed which is what is needed to build brand awareness and cache. These guys have a long memory with associating other gm products to tje lyriq but with Kia and Hyundai completely ignore all their other down market products. This Cadillac to me says sophistication
I appreciate the time you guys took to go over the Lyriq, but honestly this is the best car I’ve ever owned. For comfort style and performance I couldn’t be happier. Many road trips and a pleasure to drive.
@@kennytinker24 actually live in the southwest, gets really hot but car takes a bit to cool when leaving outside. I almost always remote start the ac 5 minutes before I get in and works great.
This is exactly why its sales trajectory this year has been very, very good. It is good at everything; not great at anything. That is the secret to hitting the fat part of the sales curve. Attractive, comfortable, reasonably priced, dealers everywhere, support everywhere.
@@iosgaming2824you’re trying way too hard. Mercedes has been trying to dethrone the Escalade for years with the GLS and can’t seem to do that either. I just love how people try to discredit Cadillac’s success like people want their vehicles by mistake or something 😂
@@G-RatedTrue. Also they make CT5-V Blackwing Manual. No modern Mercedes sedan can handle, feel, and be as fun to drive as the Cadillac. And with the new refreshed interior, no Benz can match how elegant the overall car is
@@G-Rated They've been selling the same as Escalade for years now, just look at the sales numbers. Both are pushing 30k units sold in the US year to year. Stop being a brain-dead fanboy and look at the numbers. They're both doing well and sell the same amounts to the same demographics.
I believe the AKG issue is the very aggressive active noise cancellation system. Nearly every reviewer has commented on how eerily quiet the Lyriq is underway, and it's because of the noise cancellation. I've got the AKG system on a CT5-V Blackwing and found you have to push the volume to at least 45% to get the full dynamic spectrum (sound is a bit hollow at regular volumes) at which point the sound is quite good. I believe the hole in the audio spectrum you captured is ANC over-performing. GM may need to provide an option to ratchet ANC down or off if they don't on the Lyriq.
What Jack SHOULD have said at 9:11: "You should choose this if you want a premium BEV D-segment SUV that has a nicer interior and quieter cabin than a Model Y, and, more importantly, isn't a Tesla." That's it, no? This is not a world-beater, but it's a credible alternative. Rivian, Lucid (who do have an SUV) are too expensive, Fisker is dead in the water, the Germans (EQE SUV etc.) and upcoming EX90 are more expensive, Mach-E/EV9 etc. are not premium... there really is a niche for this. Don't reduce it to Supercruise.
Exactly. Pretending that Supercruise is the only reason to choose a Cadillac over a Tesla is absolutely hilarious especially considering the fact Tesla has become synonymous with autonomous driving. They were both being so dense in that scene and playing dumb it was actually cringeworthy. They claim a Con of the Lyriq is it’s real world efficiency?? Like Are you kidding me? These guys are clowns for posting this if I’m being honest.
@@G-Rated Well, to be fair, Supercruise has outperformed Tesla's system in several tests, at least on highways. But yeah, I feel the Lyric is a bit more than a one-trick pony.
I think one of the best selling points of the Lyriq is that it's not a Tesla. It's never going to match Tesla sales, but it offers a fairly compelling, upmarket alternative to the quality dumpster reputation Tesla seems to bring.
Yeah there's clearly a market for this and they were avoiding to admit it for some reason, it's a more affordable luxury suv there's nothing else really that competes in the price range, idk why they're comparing it with an ioniq n? Not even the same buyer. They didn't even mention an appropriate alternative smh
Hoovie and April hit it on the head. The Lyriq has a "return to old school luxury" appeal, particularly in the areas Caddy was always known for: cushy suspension, cushy seats, huge trunk, some glitz and polarizing design (huge fins). In a world of modern spaceships, old school American luxury in an EV seems like a win. My wife got excited at the prospect of trading her Mercedes for one. I have seen a good number of Lyriqs on the road. Caddy may be coming back in surprising way.
Every 5 years Cadillac has been “coming back” The world changed around 2018 GM has yet to get the message. Its core demographics are boomers and unfortunately they aren’t buying many cars anymore…
What is really weird is the obsession with “sporty”. If people really gave a sh1t about sports cars then SUVs and Pick Up trucks wouldn’t be selling the way they are. While I think a Jeep Wrangler is a cool car, I would never own one because they loud and obnoxious. I would rather have something like this that feels relaxing when you’re driving in the crappy traffic of the north east.
@@godofdunHeck, kick it out of the sedan segment in all but the preformance models as well. I have a hunch that part of the downfall of sedans was when they stopped being floaty luxery barges and started trying to be race cars.

I leased a ‘24 Lyriq Sport 2 AWD two months ago & I love it. It’s my first electric vehicle. Now, when wintertime hits up here in Western NY, my opinion might change but as it stands now, the Lyriq is a great daily driver. I get compliments all the time on it from all age groups, the interior is comfortable, I think the sound system is great & it drives great. I can drive from Rochester, NY to Buffalo & Niagara Falls visiting customers for work & then back to Rochester & still have 100-120 miles of range left (this is charging to 100%). I drive the NYS Thruway on super cruise at 78mph when traveling for work. I charge at home with the GM Level 2 charger, I get 29-30 miles of range per hour when charging. Some of my previous daily drivers were the Trackhawk, Durango Hellcat & Escalade. I still love gas vehicles, the primary vehicle for wife & kids is a ‘24 Escalade, so any long road trips gets the gas vehicle. I think that electric is a good move for a 2-car household where one vehicle is gas & one is electric. I’m saving an average of $625 a month in fuel & my monthly charging bill at home is somewhere around $65 for the Lyriq. Factor in that the leases are super cheap for the Lyriq with the Federal credit, NYS credit, Costco discount, free home charger & free install of home charger-the Lyriq is a steal for what it offers.
They sell more cars than any other company, not jumping into the EV fad will prove to be a wise decision. As Toyota points out you can make 90 hybrid vehicles with the amount of rare earth materials required to make 1 EV.
I'm a 40 year old professional with an 80 mile round trip commute and a 3 year old that rides in a car seat. Gas in California is $5+/gallon and I like a nice quiet interior. I almost exclusively listen to podcasts and audio books while driving so the audio system would probably be fine for me. The super cruise sounds very nice. I've been fantasizing about buying a manual Blackwing for years but can't actually convince myself that would be smart to commute in. Maybe some day. The Lyriq doesn't sound like a perfect car but sounds like it might be a good fit for me, especially if I can get a lightly used top end spec one for the right price.
There is a time and place (retirement - nursing home) for the Cadillac Lyric. The depriation on the Lyric will out balance the gas bill on the Blackwing.
You’d have to be a critical thinker for this to make sense. Consider the fact these reviewers are completely blowing the AKG sound system quality out of proportion and being dramatic because they can’t actually find faults with this vehicle. They gripe about the sound system this hard every time they review this car, it’s all they got. 🤷🏽♂️
@@G-Rated What you're talking about is wholly subjective, though. They have measurements to back their narrative up. Maybe you're right. Maybe they have a bias against GM or Cadillac, more specifically, that's motivating them to make a bigger thing of this than they would otherwise. Whether there's some truth to that or not, this is the opposite of a critical thinking issue. Someone who's unfamiliar with this channel and these two people wouldn't be able to deduce that assertion based on the objectives in this video.
I'm baffled by how often auto makers produce muddy, stale sounding audio systems when decent sounding home speakers have been a commodity product for decades at this point.
Having seen a Lyriq in person, I think they look nice. It’s kind of a futuristic but still classy looking luxury SUV. I think comparisons with the Kia and Hyundai EVs are misplaced. This is clearly a much nicer car than those brands sell, plus no one is cross-shopping an Ionic N and the Lyriq. Also, unless you lease, wait and buy a much cheaper but like-new CPO Lyriq in a year or two. I wouldn’t buy a new one, but I’d consider one like Hoovie just picked up!
Good mention about the blinding interior bits. It's not just Caddy, oh-so-many cars nowadays have this problem. I drove a C300 for the better part of 1,000 miles a few years ago & had to place a towel over the center console to keep from being blinded by the sun. Glossy &/or polished decorative bits have no place in the front driver or passenger space of cars. It's bad enough having to deal with the massive glass screens all over but the other stuff just compounds the problems.
I think the main point of this car is missing - it's not meant to be some odd EV, looking and feeling different from many other IC cars. I think it's meant to be a luxurious car appliance that's refined, quiet, stylish (to some), and is electric. It's a reasonable car, for reasonable people who want to arrive in style and don't want to pay a weird penalty for swapping to an EV.
My wife and I just went through the shopping process for an EV. We drive a ~60 miles loop each day for school drop off, office, school pick up, and back home. Long enough that fuel costs add up, but not long enough that total range or charging times matter. We have a second ICE car for roadtrips. The number of competent but generic EV vehicles out there that are broadly interchangeable is shocking. We ended up with a Subaru Solterra because the dealership gave us the best price. But prices are so unmoored from MSRP at this point that we could have ended up anywhere. Hyundais were marked up. Kias were marked up. Fords were marked down. Teslas are Teslas. Toyota PHEVs were back ordered. Volvo EVs were back ordered and marked up. Subaru gave us $10k off list, but the next week we could have needed up in a Genesis for all I know.
People like to shit on the Solterra because it's slow charging. But if that doesn't matter and you can get a new one for $35k, it's a good deal. The only thing wrong with the car is the MSRP which can basically be ignored.
Is this the future for us? Everything is the same with a different badge? Very strange with the audio; Cadillac NEEDS to fix that. Jack, did the Lyriq sound this bad when you drove it at launch?
It's always been like this Look at cars from each decade like the 20s, 40s, 70s, 90s, etc etc. I look at little Euro hatchbacks from the 80s and can't tell the difference. 90s cars all had the same bland styling and plastic fantastic interiors. This is nothing new. Only thing now it brands find a deisgn and run with it. You see one VW, BMW, Genesis you have seen all they have to offer
Idk what these guys are talking about, this clearly has a place in the market, a more affordable luxury suv, more luxury than an ioniq 5 and model y, cheaper than the Germans, there aren't many competitors in this segment right now
That's what I was thinking. In the US the Germans are in another price bracket, Kia/Hyundai is in a different class, and Tesla has become radioactive thanks to Musk for many people. There is most definitely a place in the US market for this if the EV demand continues.
I love that musk has saved free speach (any claim by left or right can have community notes). That is democracy. I can't stand his cars. I don't want a toaster/sewing machine. Give me a dash/cockpit. That Hyundai with the crazy sounds maybe. The ford mach-e, maybe (not plush enough). Bad when a Malibou maxx looks better than this.
Mark added nothing to this… he could have gotten into any car and said exact same things. Poor attitude toward a car is not helpful. What is the benchmark? Which electric SUVs are better and why? And not just components but also total package. This was terrible education.
They are exaggerating with the audio quality and how “bad” it is. There are literally other reviewers that praise the same exact AKG system in this Lyriq so take that with a grain of salt and experience it for yourself.
After looking at key luxury EVs (BMW IX, MB & Audi), the Lyriq was a clear win in terms of value for the money and I have been very happy with my purchase so far. After 10 years of driving EVs, I love driving in the Lyriq! I can't speak to the sound sytem as I only listen to podcasts. :-). Thanks for your video, just the same!
Ultium isn’t a vehicle platform. It’s just branding for technology. Lyriq is on BEV3. Whereas the trucks are on BT1. Also, two videos on the Lyriq and still none on the Model Y?
Looks like a fine car. Unbelievably to myself, my wife and I just purchased a 2024 Chevy Equinox EV. Traded in my beloved 2018 Mazda 6 GT. I was blown away by how well this car seems sorted and put together. We already took it on a modest road trip of about 400mi roundtrip. And it was excellent. As an added bonus. Nearby to where we were staying there was a charge station that was free to use, so our trip home did not cost us anything in energy. I don't think I'll ever buy another ICE vehicle again.
Thank you so much for always providing the audio details. Such a huge importance in purchasing a car and something that doesn’t get enough focus (a real channel differentiator)!
Yea. When you get above $50k, people care very much about the audio system sounding impressive. It doesn’t matter when NVH is horrible cause everything sounds like crap. But the quieter the car is, you’ll hear more creaks and rattles from fit and finish and imperfections in the audio equipment.
These things are a common sight in NYC. A lot of them are being used as livery vehicles and i think in that application it works. Also, the lease prices are attractive and majority of NY likes to lease so theres that.
We just picked up our Sport 3 AWD in Emerald Lake Metallic with the Juniper Nappa leather interior...it is absolutely amazing to look at and sit in (IMHO). Easily the best and most interesting EV on the market in it's price range. There are literally 6-8 Tesla's at every interaction here in California and the Lyriq is such a refreshing departure from that styling. As far as driving, the quietest car I've ever driven and I appreciate it immensely as I have profound hearing loss at the age of 46 and the lack of road/wind noise makes conversation so much better for me in the car. We leased the car and got almost $10k in discounts + $7500 added on to the residual value. Heck of a lease deal on an $80k car. There are certainly a few odd design choices for the car (like the bright chrome around the climate controls that is rather blinding in direct sunlight). So far the wife and I both enjoy the audio system. Maxing out the surround slider and bumping up some of the values in the equalizer helped a lot. Overall, we love the car so far...its fast, quiet, smooth, comfortable, full of tech, stands out on the road, is very spacious, and dealers are offering great incentives right now. We will see how things go over the next 3 years of the lease!
I like that this car has HVAC buttons, physical vent controls, an on/off button and a normal OS (Android). The rear design has negative space that reminds me of the Lotus Eletre and the front design is expressive and interesting. I'm an older millennial and there's a lot that I like about this car.
Theory about the bad audio: as people age they tend to lose the ability to hear high frequencies. During market research the elderly test subjects preferred a more bass heavy sound profile, so Cadillac went with that to appeal to their target demographic. I could be wrong though.
I'm not elderly or Gen Z, I simply have sensitive hearing. I can't stand too much highs. It's no problem for me to turn them down in the settings, but maybe they are doing that from the factory to appeal to them.
My guess is that this one had a busted speaker. Maybe Mark and Jack wouldn't have found it because of how many speakers they jam into the thing. Even if that's the case, that's a bad look for the Cadillac reps to let a press car go out with a busted sound system.
I live in texas and i see a few of these every single day in DFW area. I honestly shocked at well put together the panles are very high quality. My 2020 Chevy not so much attention to panel gaps.
This is the first review to call the interior cheap. I sat in it and thought the interior was definitely a step up from most Cadillac interiors and on par with other luxury brands.
I’ll say it again, after watching them review this vehicle a second time it’s clear that they have something against it. It’s the same problem with Out of Spec’s reviews and *gm* products. These people are clearly biased and need to throw in the towel if they can’t give viewers accurate and honest feedback.
@@G-Rated they also trashed the XT6 as a nursing home car even though it drives great, comfortable, plenty of safety features, and handsome looking. They complained about the price knowing that GM/Cadillac discount their cars a lot more than Audi and others
@@G-Rated The pieces are real but it "feels cheap." Would you prefer fake if it felt real? There are some pretty convincing fake leathers on the market nowadays.
Great review and very fair. Caddy has really upped the interior quality compared to their recent past. I’m glad that that Cadillac is at least sticking with offering sedans as an alternative, along with BMW, Mercedes and other premium badges. This EV, well, so many legacy manufacturer EVs, are so polarizing and confusing from a design standpoint. Especially this and the Celestiq.
Haven’t driven the Lyriq but have driven an EV6 and have experience with a Bolt. I think where this vehicle makes a lot of sense is when you start to consider what ICE vehicles in this size class cost. A Lyriq Tech (base trim) is well equipped and can be had for same or less than stuff like Grand Cherokee, Lexus RX, Acura MDX, BMW X5, MB GLE, Audi Q7, Lincoln Aviator, Volvo XC90, etc. So I think for some folks see the value in getting this because it offers a lot, and it really lacks a clear direct competitor. The Model Y is a size down, EV9 is sorta close but for are you really going to take a Kia when you can have a Cadillac? The Macan EV is considerably more and smaller. And that’s really all that’s on sale… Metro Cars are now using Lyriq’s as an airport shuttle car - tbh a great set up for livery service with big trunk & backseat. And the leases on the Lyriq are not bad I’ll possibly in the market for a new vehicle at the end of the year and this is on my radar, along with Charger EV, 500e, Equinox/Blazer EV, Lucid Air. Would like an EV but not married to it - it will come down to what vehicle will give me the most utility and value for the dollar (on a lease). Might even consider a Hybrid or PHEV vehicle but there doesn’t seem to be any amazing incentives or lease programs at the moment, so it’s not really on my radar.
GM may have a long way to go to compete with the luxury marks, but it my understanding that they are working on improving material quality throughout the lineup. It might be a challenge for auto makers to invest a lot of time and money into a market segment that isn't growing as anticipated. Buyers are going a little soft on EVs lately, so what to do? Cadillac still has one of the best design-languages in the industry, much more desirable than Audi and vastly better than BMW. I tend to buy VWs and Hondas, but if I was in the market for an SUV-EV, this would be on my short-list.
The Cadillac Lyric is the best selling luxury EV crossover for the first quarter of 2024. I love the fact that it’s not a generic looking EV but I can see how the rear can be polarizing and my wife is not a fan of the rear either but I think they nailed the long hood rear wheel drive presence.
I always thought Cadillac's rebrand started with the 2002 CTS, with the car being used in the highway chase scene in the 2nd Matrix movie reinforcing that it's not a nursing home car anymore.
@@TwoDollarGararge Yeah every 35 year old who bought a Caddy in 1960 was a 70 year old in 1995, and they kept their 1960's buying habits where it was a Caddy or nothing.
@@deanchurNo it did, you’re actually correct. But brand snobs like to discredit Cadillac for their efforts back then and still til this day. That’s why they can’t figure out why a Cadillac Lyriq is outselling the brands they feel are above Cadillac in cache and Tesla as far as EVs. *gm* just killed 2 birds with one stone and Savagegeese can’t fathom how because they’ve told themselves Cadillac has been failing and wouldn’t be able to pull this off. Think of it like that and it’ll make more sense to you when they failed to mention the 2002 CTS in the Matrix movie. I’m 30 yo and know exactly what you mean btw so it’s not an age issue either.
This at MSRP is uncompetitive at best. But in the US they’re having a hard time selling and there are major discounts, as much as $10k off sticker. My local dealer has around 60 of them on the lot. With the deals available this car starts to make a lot more sense.
Even at MSRP it isn't really uncompetitive, price starts at $50,000 after the $7,500 tax incentive / "Ultium Promise Bonus Cash", not including shipping. Sales are pretty decent as well, ~3000 in the month of May which is a 3rd of GM's EV sales and a quarter of Cadillac's total sales.
Saw one of these with the same red color yesterday. Thought it looked very nice, bigger and taller than I thought. If I were to get a Chevy EV, it’ll probably be a size down to better fit in the garage.
Get the hell outta here! The body style compared to the competitors is aggressive, sporty, more luxurious and sexy. The cabin is quite - too quiet but without the radio you will notice more wind and compartment sounds - just like Tesla models. I’m not an audiophile but I love movies, music and a good audio set up. I have a 9.1 Denon and Martin Logan Dolby Atmos setup in my basement which sounds ridiculous. I love listening and distinguishing sound levels, clarity, and whispers from different directions. When driving and listing to music - I don’t compare the two setups but I know the Lyriq sounds DAMN good. No one has sat in my Lyriq and complained about the audio. The Lryiq is spacious, about the same size as my Jeep Grand Cherokee. The battery: Tesla Y is 320 - Audi Q8 is 285. The Lyriq fully charged is 350 miles. The Ionic is ugly as iiish and cost the same. The prices between each car is on par with different editions. The Lyriq is perfect for two row body style that will fit easily in your two car garage. As an owner, I don’t like that we don’t have the same Tesla camera recording security features and we have the same advance cameras (GMC said they are releasing this option). I don’t like the weaker massaging seats. I don’t like that the Cadillac software ONLY sometimes pulls up the camera features we pulling up to a tight situation. The software is nice and fast but not on par with some of the competitors. I don’t like that there aren’t more compartments to keep items (just three) when my older gas cars have four. There’s no proper HEADS UP DISPLAY (2023/2024) and I have the Luxury 3 model loaded. The AC vents while comfortable - can be relocated for better face air contact and the rear seats feel lacking. For the reviewer, I’d suggest you get back to cleaning septic tanks as your complaints for this car are not valid.
This review demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding of this car's target audience and value proposition. After test driving it, I found it to be a strong contender in its segment, particularly for its price point. The styling is a refreshing departure from the homogeneity of many other EVs, clearly aiming for a different consumer than those drawn to Tesla. In my area, (Northern Virginia/ DC suburbs) the car seems quite popular among affluent young professionals. While I generally respect this channel's reviews, this one misses the mark entirely.
A relative bought this after a career working in a Ford factory. He liked it better than the Emustang. He hasn't driven it since. It's a cool car, it's wheels look bigger than tractor tires though.
I enjoy your automotive journalism weekly but in the larger scheme of things the guy who pumps my septic is way more important. I can't do without him.
Another reason people would buy this is because of the looks. I think it looks horrendous, but my mom will not stop talking about those "electric Cadillacs". Second coming of Jesus to her I swear.
Bingo. AKG used to be a well respected audio brand. Samsung makes good phones and SSDs but everything else in their portfolio of brands gets starved for resources. AKG is a good match for Cadillac for that reason.

I have a Luxury 3 Lyriq it’s a really great car….that audio system…. AKG it’s hands down the worst I’ve ever heard I thought I was tripping it’s honestly that bad that front center speaker I really want to just take a screwdriver and jam it through the dashboard. It’s shrill almost like it’s a bad paper speaker. The bass is okay it’s only coming from the back definitely a let down in that area by far. If you’re spending that much on a car dammit it should come with something respectable 😂. But Emerald Lake with the Juniper interior….chefs kiss
Can you make a video explaining the audio graphs? I never can see what is on the x & y axis and have no baseline to interpret these data from. They look pretty, but they don't tell anyone anything (outside of an audio engineer) meaningful. Thanks. (Love your content by the way!)
I’ve noticed a trend on this Channel. If it’s a good American car and there’s not much to complain about, you throw in the white towel and the whole video ends up being decided to the question “why would I choose this over X-Y-Z”. I’ve seen you do this multiple times. well, to your point; if they all feel the same and do the same things, why would I choose those crappy Korean or German cars over this?? Are we trying our hardest not to buy an American car? Why does this have to do anything extraordinary if none of the others do? Is it because it’s an American car it has to walk on water to be considered? when there’s a underperforming Lexus on here, you’ll spend the whole video making excuses for it, trying to find reasons why it’s good. You can see it all over jacks face when he clearly knows a certain Japanese car is giving you NOTHING for your money, yet mark will cut him off, say “I 100% disagree” as his whole tone of voice and body language changes because he’s frustrated with Jack putting the hurtful truth of reliability not being enough to make up for crappy lackluster cars. Like others, you can tell Jack is tired of saying “it’s missing this that this that and this, but it’s best in class because you can drive it until the world ends”. WHO CARES when it’s not Corolla money?!
Feel quite disconnected from Savage Geese lately. 2 cars we have direct knowledge of, the Lyriq and the Lucid. Completely opposite verdicts. The Lucid is perhaps the most hated vehicle in our family. Young and old alike. Horrible design choices everywhere and cheap parts. It’s fast as hell. But the efficiency is way off. Their self hype around being super efficient is 3/4 BS. We get 3.5 miles per kwh on 8k miles of ownership so far. Way off the 4.6 they state. Supposed to get 400+ miles. We don’t cross 300 usually. Lyriq says 3 miles/kwh. We typically get 3.1-3.2. Not far off the Lucid and you are dealing with an SUV body. Software design is way better in the Lyriq. Materials. Kids are teenagers. They think the Lyriq is way cooler looking and more comfortable to sit in. Market verdict also opposite Savage Geese. Lyriq is the best selling premium EV right now. 50% conquest sales. So they are drawing tons of new buyers. Lucid is stagnant, with no growth. Guys are way off on this one.
I noticed this after driving the Pacifica in 2016. No one on our family trip liked it. The new one is much better but Mark said the old one was great. I do agree with their CRV, NSX, and Miata review.
@@livejames9374 On the Lucid? We drive totally normally. Have had 5 electrified vehicles. We drive them all the same. Every one of them has been right around EPA. Only the Lucid is way off. Bay Area (temperate climate), regen braking set to normal. Never been able to get better than 3.8 miles/kwh on a "tank". Averaging 3.6/3.5 (waffling between those two figures) lifetime across all four seasons. Maybe we have a lemon.
@@danchen6783 even your low 3.5 is over 300 miles range. I was just speaking to the 300 mile comment. It’s well known that lucid isn’t the most efficient and gets by having large battery packs.
Yeah honestly I feel like they've been missing the mark with these EVs, they hate on the Mach-e and yet I think it's far better than the teslas and the Hyundais/Kias. The lyriq, all though not totally special, is a small step above all the other SUV EVs out right now. Lucid is a complicated topic, it's a first car from a new brand and it's reaching for the stars.
@@CheezeCracker or they have taken the post processing eq too far .. how it sounds in the mix vs how it sounds on post might be the mess up.. so long for the customer experience
I actually like the design and don't agree it looks like that old Chevy LOL. I won't get one but just saying the styling isn't that bad. I am surprised how popular this car is, I see at least 10+ here in the neighborhood already and some folks replaced their model Y dual motor to get these. (a bit of a head scratcher).
The appliance car is so easy to mess up with so many competitors. I don’t want a sports car to handle traffic in the perfect grid of Chicago and Detroit, that can be a dedicated weekend machine. The reason I ended up with the Volvo V60 was due to it being a good enough car from an ADAS, safety, refinement perspective, but with an amazing audio system. Hearing about the audio here really shut down any chance of moving to GM, which I was willing to overlook the lack of Apple CarPlay if everything else worked well enough.
You guys are kinda mean to this car. I see a ton of young people in DC area drive these and they look way better than a Tesla. (No I don’t own one or want one)
I had a mid-2000's F-150 with a factory stereo that sounded _exactly_ like you just described, but only (if I recall) when using the aux input, or possibly built-in satellite radio (sorry, long time ago). Anyway, turns out some brilliant engineer at Ford decided it'd be a good idea to send that particular output over the *CANBUS.* Unbelievable.
While I'm not impressed with this car from a brand new perspective, Hoovie pointed out that you can get 1-2 year old versions in the mid $40k range which makes this a much more appealing offering. I don't hold GM QA to a golden standard but this seems like it's nailed together better than a model Y and isn't as painfully hip and modern as a EV9 or Ioniq5.
I'm not sure about this take, y’all. The Lyriq is a great all-arounder with few faults, yet it's not highly recommended because there are many other excellent all-arounders in the same category…? While I agree with that assessment, I still believe there's a place for the Lyriq. What other options are there in the luxury segment with a prestigious badge? BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, Audi, and Lincoln don't currently offer equivalents like the EQC, iX3, or EX60. Hyundai and Kia have impressive models (I drive an Ioniq 5), but they lack the same level of prestige. The Model Y has become as common as a Corolla, and most other options are either mediocre or just another GM vehicle. Change my mind.
