its ace riding a slower bike every now and again. I was lucky enough to be offered a Manx Norton and a Honda 350 for the ManxGP. The honda was ace, on the real fast corners you could keep it flat out and just stick a knee out or lift your head up a touch, that was enough brake haha. Having said that it handled bloody well for an old gal. Had some of my best times on old classics. I think the weirdest was Paul Atkinsons Greeves Silverstone 250, that was a brilliant little thing!!! RIP PAUL.
The engine is built to the Bantam Superstock spec, it uses a set design expansion chamber, the inlet and exhaust port are opened to a set size and it uses a mikuni 26mm carburettor. It makes about 15-16hp, the specs to build one can be found on the BSA Bantam racing Facebook page
@@davidwilliamson9162 it's a B175 engine, bored 1mm oversize, so it works out around 178cc or something like that. Within the rules you can take them out to 64mm bore, so about 186cc, although the advantage is minimal
I have a video where he gets past me, and if you look very very closely, you can see him disappear off track when he crashes. Unfortunately no spectacular footage 🤷🏼 Didn't upload that one though
Don't know the rules and regs so don't shout at me, OK? Seems like the gearing was a little bit long for the engine until it got a really long run at it? Lot's of clutch action to keep it on the boil? HOWEVER, NONE of this detracted from the fun I had watching you whizz around on the Banty! Like mllions of others I had one as a learner and in later years put a D14/4 engine into a go kart for the local Youth Club boys and girls to fly about in!! We had to restrict the heck out of it to save them doing any silly stunts!!!
Perhaps it was a little overgeard, but these little Superstocks don't rev out that well, but do make good torque numbers so they tend to respond to that better The other issue we have with gearing them down is making 1st and 2nd too low, the gaps in-between the gears is pretty vast on these 4 speed road gearboxes so you have to compromise a bit 😂 Thanks for watching :)
