Please be careful while getting used to it if you come from a 600 sports bike. Its a handful. It can be compared to the old Kawazaki Z1300 in terms of handling, except for the larger tyres and better grip. Also, I would swap the stock Dunlop tyres for Metzeler Roadtec Z8 since the Dunlops are horrid in wet conditions. They slide about if they even see a drop of rain.
boy has that guy got some stones on him!!!! how long did the front pads last ? ;-) love the usual 1000cc sports jockeys who can't pass on a corner. top man
Great video, used to own a GSX1400, but been looking at the XJR1300, don't know whether it is lighter but feels it. Not easy bikes to throw around these big retros, so f**know the stupid comments some of these knobheads have put on
Great Great Video!!! I have rode a XJR 1300 and must say it is an awesome Bike to ride...and to take it to it´s limites as in this video, is not for everybody...! It´s got a fabulous Torque. It is a Bike for Real Men!!!
mate the xjr went great used to have one 1200 went to a zxr750 now im looking to get back to a 1300xjr simply because you have to ride them and not point and shoot there is a real art in getting these great bikes to handle and it was great watching the vid cheers
I ride an XJR have done since I bought it 9 years ago. I love pissing sports bike riders off who soon run out of talent and testees. Learn some riding skills then buy a crotch rocket.
I found out that mine felt vague while riding fast round Yorkshire Dales sometimes.... And sometimes I rode with sports bikes and tipped into a corner faster than it felt it wanted to, and I thought...Oh sh*t but..... I just tipped her a little further and she hung in there. You can trust it more than you think mate. It's the rider that bottles out first. ;)
@richardfromage67 I'm sorry i didnt mean to be offensive and insultive. No, i never ridden an Xjr and its not my cup of tea either but whatever works for you man. I did ride an Fz1 Fazer pretty aggresivelly though in the track and i have to say the "technik" that works in the SBKs is the same on any bike. BUT each to his own and whatever works for you +1300
well, i've been riding supersport bikes for god knows how long. but shit the bed, i've been looking at getting one of these and, yup, getting one now. what can u ask for? grunt, power and comfort. true muscle bike.
Jonesy6723 your 28hp MZ its like a fart of a young neanderthal... The Xjr is a 250kg bike, with a big engine out on air, with almost no aerodynamic, with no fairings... Who give a sheet for laps and seconds... And for hornet... When a hornet see one XJR on street, he stop before he burn some feather...
I used to ride my CB1300 Super Bol Dor like this -all be it maybe not as quick...hehe. Awesome dude !!! Gonna show this to my mate as he keeps saying that he cant come on track days as XJR is not suitable !!! hehehehe No excuses now !!!!
@chopgr Could you please explain what technik is?. And ive had a look but cant find a video of you riding an xjr1300 on track to compare it with. Looking forward to seeing your video when you post it up.
I thought I was the only one who does track days on an XJR, only done Mallory Park so far though, will be doing more this year, feel better for watching this, is the bike tuned, mine has 110BHP at the back wheel. Video on my channel.
I have to add that its not a beginners bike, I have heard some people say that it is easy to ride, but I disagree. Yes, it is easy to handle at lower to medium speeds, but it wants to go wide when you open it up a bit. It is also very little forgiving if you make a mistake, You will get into serious trouble if you try to take a corner too fast. More modern bikes will easily go around the corner if you just think about it, but this one requires some serious handling.
think I will go and get me old xjr and put it through its paces but i dont think it has ever got close to being ridden as aggresively as tis bloody awsome
Just watched this video again, and its fucking impressive. I own an XJR1300 2012, I love that bike, but riding it like this is just way beyond my capability. I bought it because I wanted to calm down a bit, I wanted a bike that doesnt yell at me to speed up all the time, and thats what I got. Still, it has more than enough power to give you a challenge when you want it to. The torque is a rush in itself. It feels like an 80's bike without all the crap.
I did a trackday at cadwell on an unfaired hornet. So understand the irony. But facts are facts, he gets passed a lot. Not surprising really - 1960's Paton really was where twinshock was at. You have to do what makes you happy.
Watched and commented before still good to watch , wouldnt like to go like that on my XJR its fitted with four Laser pipes Im pretty sure theyd ground , great riding both the xjr rider and camera biker
Great ride! No doubt XJR has great charm and this pilot defends his position so powerful against hypersports ! compliments is a great video, great, thanks for having published!
Bloody hell! I was thinking of getting one of these for the commute to work - think it would be wasted on me after watching this - I can't ride like that - respect.
I used to think that. Went out with another lad on an XJR1300 like mine and we were pushing each other all the way. Came to a corner in the lead and I thought...… Oh, shit, she's too fast and I am not making this. But, I just leaned her a little further and she dug in and went round like a champ. My mate ran wide. No more fast riding for him that day. lol
"How to ride XJR in fast group"? More like "how to overtaken by everyone in the fast group". Ha ha! Anyway fairplay. Prob should of stayed in the intermediate group though. Lol
