Ankle pick is the ultimate finesse move. So simple, takes little strength, but a setup and timing. Incredible. (And you feel like such a doofus when one is hit on you).
YT Newton totally agree, my son had one takedown move and went undefeated in his senior year sometimes it pays to be great at one thing...like an ankle pick, Cael’s were just so sick.
Sorry to be off topic but does anybody know a way to log back into an Instagram account..? I somehow lost the login password. I would love any assistance you can offer me
@Castiel Gregory Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm trying it out now. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
If only Cael entered the 2008 Summer Olympics:) Cael seemed to improve as a freestyle wrestler even while he was retired. The Gold Medalist for 84g in Beijing was Revaz Mindorashvili who Cael completely controlled in 2003 when Cael hadn't reached his peak;)
Best dam athlete and wrestler in history. My respect for this man is beyond any words. I've bragged about him for many years. Cael, we love ya man! Keep up the good work!
He is the greatest wrestler of all time if not the greatest athlete of all time over every sport. Unmatched in the sport, highest skill ceiling, 0 poor performances, 0 weaknesses, incredible in every aspect, nobody will ever match his legacy. The greatest...
mrkriegs ill give you this hes the greatest college wrestler of all time nobody comes close he was a absolute machine. however he is not the best wrestler in frestyle which is what the rest of the world does in my opinon john smith was the best because he won 6 world championships and 2 olympic gold medals and cael only won 1 olympic gold medal. cael was great but his collge carrer was his best wrestling
In the US absolutely. all time? Buvaisar Saitiev, Valentin Yordanov, Sergei Beloglazov, Khadzhimurat Gatsalov, Abdulrashid Sadulaev (a little young, maybe in a few years) just to name a few would be in the running as the greatest wrestler of all time.
'''He is the greatest wrestler of all time if not the greatest athlete of all time over every sport.''' what a load of rubbish..are in love with that guy or what?
Yami02blue really?then did you know that he ankle pick is one of the least used moves in wrestling? probably the hardest aside from a leg cradle to perform perfectly?
***** fucking 160 wins.... zero losses. Through highschool, college and the fucking olympics. All with one move that every one predicted but couldnt stop because hes just too fucking good.
Fuck you stupid fucks. OMG you're so stupid. I said the dude was great, the move was great, and you fuckers are so stupid that you completely missed it. ROFL. Have a nice life, and read some books, because your comprehension level is on par with a gnat. Maybe lower. tl:dr: You're unbelievably stupid.
As someone who didn't have a great shot( though I worked really hard), the ankle pick was my answer to being slower and weaker. Grit, conditioning, timing and leverage. I love wrestling because talent could be outworked.
@@Force123ish1 Burroughs keeps getting bronze and didn't even medal at Rio. John Smith is better as of now. More world level golds and never got silver or bronze.
I always found success with ankle pick, I would bait one way a couple times and hit it hard on the other side, opponents seem to step right into it if u bait it up right
I never really get goosebumps watching Cael. I understand he is one of the best if not the best wrestler ever, but I never get that intrigued in his highlight videos. Now Ed Ruth...I can't get enough of watching that guy!
@ 11:48. That's the most bizarre half I've ever seen. This made me happy to watch. This guy is tough. 'Love to see a good ankle pick. Even more I love to see a low single. Makes me miss it. Makes me happy.
Check out Steve Mocco and footsweeps if you admire this. Moves like this and footsweeps take insanely good timing. Judo used to allow ankle picks too. That's why, with footsweeps too, it was good to supplement folkstyle with Judo. It's different now though. There was a guy I used t o wrestle with who had a crazy ankle pick. I would be going for a ride wondering, "what the fuck is going on". It wasn't until a few days later I learned what he was doing. I literally didn't know what the hell he was doing.
Carl is One of the Greatest ever in the sport yet reamains Humble through it all now as a record setting college coach His Humility is Still His Greatest Strength
scoring is different. freestyle you get points for turns. hard to explain. basically the neutral position is the same. if you take a person down you have a limited time to turn them. no bottom or top position.
Like I responded to someone else’s comment. Not exactly, I think the music represents the smoothness and effortless style of Cael. More soothing and shows the flow he had. Something harder would be for the Brands who were like bulldozing figures, but this music fits Cael’s poised style. I thought it sucked too until I came back and watch multiple times.
Probably the greatest American Wrestler of All-Time. I hope you're joking. 159-0, 4 Time NCAA Champion, 4 Time Pac-12 Champion, Olympic Gold Medalist. Clearly not a one trick pony.
