Tired of the daily grind? Join me on a stunning hike to Caerlaverock Castle! This Scottish gem has sieges, wildlife, and wild geese galore. Escape the ordinary - let's explore!
Hi Brian & Sah! A fantastic ruin in a beautiful landscape👍 A Winter trip there to see the barnacle geese has been on my "to do list" for years! Maybe this year! 😁 All the best👍
I first visited Caerlaverock Castle circa 1986, with my wee Family. At that time, at the right-hand side of the shadow-filled entrance, there was a figure (an historically-dressed manikin). My youngest son (aged c. 10 years old) freaked out, until I tentatively explained and showed him the reality. Another memory, tempered with a bit of guilt that R was so alarmed. Thank you for the memories, B. All the best. R 🍻😎
Wonderful Castle Brian & Sah 👋 amazing history, glad it is being conserved would have been a shame to lose it, 😍 wonderful to hear that the alt marshes are managed so well and that's an amazing list of wildlife that uses the area , thank you for another informative tour, woof to Noah 🐶 keep well CMW 🚶🚶🚶

We were there just over a week ago at the motorhome aire by the car park. We couldn't walk to the castle though as Nanook was limping with a bad leg again. It said the castle wasn't open though, so has it recently reopened again? It looks like a very attractive ruin.
We visited early June and it was open. I'm not sure why it would be closed now but its a great ruin for a wander if your ever back. I hope Nanook is better now. , Brian and Sah 😀
