Just like 2 weeks ago, i decided to present 2 different projects, based on a similar motorcycle.
The first one, it is based in a Yamaha XV 1100 Virago, which was built by Mooyong Zeus, owner of the very well known Zeus Custom, in Thailand.
The second one, it is based in a Yamaha Virago XV 920, built by Luis Felipe Gonzalez, owner of "Infelix Custom Garage", located in Colombia.
2 different visions, that will surely bring different opinions.

If you want optimum performance and sound stay with a exhaust pipe diameter of around 1" 1/4 maximum 1" 1/2 (up to 1000cc). Use reverse Cone Muffler's as these produce a void in muffler allowing gases to escape quicker. Wrap exhaust for more performance as exhaust gas flows over a hot surface faster. Despite what some might think unrestricted exhaust dictate a leaner air fuel mixture. The correct jetting will stop the popping on engine over run. Dyno will ultimately dictate jetting but as a rule the above mods will gain hp. Very nice bike!

I too love the "Colombian". It has a brutal efficiency about it that really appeals to me. The angle of the cylinders reminds me of a V8, evocative of power. At 68 years, and with arthritis and back problems, I had to part with my '04 Thruxton, and I miss it every day. I wonder if there is a way a machine like yours, could be changed just enough to give it a bit of the flat tracker look... The slightly higher and wider bars would be much more comfortable for someone like myself. Don't get me wrong, there is absolutely nothing "wrong" with your splendid creation, you are right to be proud of it. Well done!

My first bike was the xv750 with the mono shock. I turned it into a cafe racer back in 09. I guess people realized the potential of these bikes. My fav aspect of this bike is the hanging engine. It looks like your riding an engine. Such an awesome machine. And cheap

Acredito que, entre todos os vídeos seus que já assisti, este seja o que mais tenha me instigado a construir uma café racer.. e a razão para isso é a segunda moto. Quase tudo nela é harmônico, coerente e de muito bom gosto, realmente.. desde as linhas agressivas e modernas a até mesmo o detalhe da linha vermelha diagonal que corta o tanque e que faz referência ao quadro e à balança traseira.. magnífica. E por que eu digo quase perfeita? Porque eu iria estudar um vistoso e arrojado escape de titânio de curvas seccionadas para ela.. para chutar o balde mesmo rsrs.. A partir de hoje vou começar, assim como quem não quer nada, dar uma pesquisada na web se há alguma Virago XV 920 em bom estado a venda.. não custa sonhar né? rsrs.. Olá amigo. Foi precisamente por tudo o que disse que escolhi essa Virago da Colombia. Eu sabia que muita gente ia gostar desse projecto, principalmente porque não requer muitas alterações. Mas num dos comentários que já li, parece que a Virago XV 920 é bastante rara aí no Brasil. De qualquer forma, desejo-lhe a maior sorte amigo. Um abraço.

Sim, receio que tenha razão meu caro, na verdade já estava a suspeitar isso mesmo enquanto escrevia meu comentário. E o pior é que, depois de ver um resultado final como esse com tão poucas mudanças e tão relativamente acessível, acredito que agora ficará difícil apaixonar por algum projeto cuja base seja qualquer moto comum do Brasil 😠👺💤.. Mas, ao mesmo tempo, não duvido da capacidade da Racer TV de escarafunchar e nos surpreender rsrs.. Boa semana.

I dont know about Thailand but I envy you guys, I think you dont need an engineers report on custom frame mods. That would be a dream! Here in aussie land you cant even put on different forks without a certificate, and that costs about $1000 aus. Here in NSW its even worse, you get tested every year for a roadworthy. If you have these bikes modified, as I do, you need the original setup to pass every year, its a nightmare. Maybe I'll move to thailand, they come here, I'll go there!

Virago is really an interesting bike and we can find it with relative ease in many projects. In fact without much money invested a good builder can achieve a very good custom motorcycle. That is why there are so many projects we can find in a quick search on the internet. Most are expendable, but as always these two bikes are something special. I like the virago very much, but every time I am attracted more to the old Kawasaki Vulkan 500 2 inline. Saludos

K Mooyong is a great guy. He's getting quite famous now. And it's great to see he is not changing and still share his passion within the community. To be close to him and his shop it's one of the only things i miss since i don't live in BKK anymore. Perseus is such a beautiful bike. I like the style and the old look it has. It's simple and not too shiny. Love it.

The second bike, the one made by Luiz, is the bike I like the most from the several virago projects I found on the web. I've found it on Pinterest and pinned it to my "cafe racer ideas" album. But I have a virago 535 with dual shocks...need to find a solution for it 👍🏻

Having built and ridden a virago with a very similar exhaust I will let everyone considering it that the heat is no joke, wrap it up and stay safe! I can't count the number of times I burned myself on it or cooked all the hair off my shin sitting at stop lights waiting to go.

o segundo projeto está melhor, as linhas perfeitas, com o tanque de combustível original ficou clean. Amigo Victor, encontrei uma cafe racer construída na base da royal enfield, deixei uma foto e o link no face para você ve-la, gostei muito do projeto, aqui no Brasil novamente a royal enfield está começando andar nas ruas.

You probably need a monoshock virago, possibly the best cruiser platform out there for a cafe racer conversion. On another note, I'd also like to say this. "Hey Deus Customs, you didn't invent the (two) wheel(s), so selling a well finished cafe racer virago dumb expensive, when independent garages and cafe racer enthusiasts can built on their own with similar results as your example for about a fifth of what you're selling it, is an insult to the cafe racer community and the people that love classic wheels." I know a lot of hipsters with fascination for cafe racers are probably going to disagree with me, but I just speak from the heart because I'm building a cafe on my own and im really passionate about it. Ok, end of rant!

They are good, Spains a bit rough round the edges, but overall well done, the tank seat level is the hardest thing depending on the stance of the bike,and if youve ever done it, its not easy, it should be! I have two, XV750 83 with CBR1100 forks, and XV1000 with VTR1000 forks. I dont like USD forks on a classic looking bike, just personal preference. If you like Showa forks on these bikes its not that hard, only have to extend the stem an inch or so and the lower bearing is the same, all balls have a top end one avail. Still a long wheelbase virago in handling, but great for the ego! I dont think you need pillion pegs on the XV920 with that seat! BTW the XV920, that was the XV1000 in australia, it wasnt called the TR1 or anything, just came out in chain or shaft drive. More shaft drive ones about.

Investigate a BMW GS air/oilhead scrambler build. They're everything every fashion bikes wants to be, but they're also legitimately good bikes that are far more capable than any of the modern scramblers available today (while actually being old school).

Thank you for your suggestion, but unfortunately, i gave up doing videos about Scramblers, because i realized that most Viewers are more interested in Cafe Racers. Cheers.

Óptimo, fico contente por saber disso. Aproveito para sugerir para quando fizer o trabalho de video, tente captar mais videos com a moto a passar na estrada, a arrancar, e a parar. Também seria muito bom se conseguissem filmar com a camera dentro de um carro, e com a moto a andar ao lado. Obrigado pela resposta amigo. :) Um abraço.

if I want more power/performance wouldn't a four cylinder bike like a Honda cb be a better choice than a virago?

Well, it is not the higher number of cylinders that makes an engine to be more powerful. It is more a matter of personal taste. Personally, i think the V twin engine has the best sound of all. Cheers.

Hi mate. I wonder most ofter, why manufacturers don’t build such magnificent motorcycles. Are these custom bikes have safety and ergonomic as per standards. ? I dont know though.

Two great looking bikes, the professional cafe racer crowd shows some real originality sometimes. What I've NEVER liked about such designs are the two different wheel (because of the front wheel change due to the suspension upgrade) en the exhaust pipes on the right side of the engine. I can understand you don't want those enourmous mufflers, but why not have two different pipes and let the rear cilinder blow onto the ground? Most of them don't even use mufflers at all....

Just like you, i also a fan of two different pipes in a cafe racer project. But with the virago, i like to see those harmonic tubes in front of the right side of the engine. But Thanks for sharing your opinion. :) Cheers.
