Our adventure started the minute we got in the car, very early in the morning. The traffic was insane, but luckily, the captain awaited us. The boat ride was about 30 minutes out to the middle of nowhere in the ocean. We were the second group to go, so we could see most of the sharks from the boat. We pulled the drone out to get some aerial shots of the sharks. When it was finally our turn we got our full-body wetsuits on and hopped in the freezing water. The water was freezing and the boat was rocking so the cage was a little intense, but it was chill after a while. Unfortunately, we were unable to see the sharks while we were in the cage because of poor visibility and lack of sharks. A few days before this adventure there was a crazy storm that was one of the worst Cape Town had seen in a while, so the water was much lower visibility than usual, therefore the sharks were less plentiful. The crew explained how the experience usually is, and it sounds incredible. The water is very clear, and the sharks come in groups of 20+. There are even sightings of dolphins, whales, and other majestic sea life. In our experience, we were able to see sharks, whales, and seals. Next time you're in Cape Town don't forget to do a cage dive with shark explorers, it is an experience you will not forget.
