That looked like a terrible time you had lol. Not even including the sharks, that trip looks pretty amazing. Even deep sea fishing outside the bay, being on the ocean is the best form of detox. Everyone should experience it at least once in their life and maybe they just might understand the need to protect it. Thank you for the breakdown, I'll be saving this one.

Little late to the party. The tour operator I went with also did shark IDs each night of the trip where we would get together and review our footage and try to identify which sharks we saw that day. Different markings are used to identify different individuals and there is a book with I think over 300 specific sharks that have been seen over the years at Guadalupe. Some saw Lucy on my trip but unfortunately I was top-side having lunch when she showed up so I missed her. The largest one I saw was Scarboard which is a massive 18-foot female with a large scar on the leading edge of her dorsal fin. Absolutely amazing animal!

Hey Skyler, another really informative video. You mentioned that you've go e wigg a few different companies. Any recommendations as to which is the best for a family of four? Myself, wife, and two teenage daughters. As always, thanks buddy!
@Whitesharkvideo
@Whitesharkvideo 5 лет назад
That's an interesting question...sounds like you are essentially four adults so I don't think things would be much different. Most boats have double occupancy rooms set up as bunk beds, but there are a handful of bigger rooms and double beds out there if that is important to you, but for standard pricing, you're looking at double occupancy rooms, which works out well in your case; you and your wife in one room and the girls in another. There's nothing particularly "adult" on the trips other than the presence of alcohol.

As of 2020 drones are still allowed (but who knows how long it will last). The cheapest trips I've seen are the shorter trips, about $3,000 on the smaller boats. I've got spots on a 6 day trip October 2020, big boat, for $3990.00 if you're interested.

What’s the biggest boat that leaves out of San Diego. I don’t want to do the bus trip and sit in the line at border... most trips I’ve googled look like really small boats. Thanks
@jb8331
@jb8331 2 года назад
I think only Horizon and Island Charters leave from San Diego and honestly they are some of the smaller boats out there. The larger ones like Solmar V, the Nautilus Belle Amie and Nautilus Explorer charter a bus to Ensenada. There's really no line heading into Mexico. Coming back on the other hand is hit or miss.

Great video. I go oct 2020 and can’t wait. Can you chime in on the difference between the surface and submersible cages? I’m scuba certified and hope to do both.
@Whitesharkvideo
@Whitesharkvideo 4 года назад
Ah, cool, who's trip/boat? The submersible experience allows the sharks to be more of themselves, so to speak. Sometimes they are bolder, slower, and the big ones like the sub more. At the surface it's a bit more hectic because of the baited lines next to the surface cages. It also gets much colder in the submersible.

Are there any age restrictions and/or size restrictions? Also, would they accomadate someone with mild disability ie rheumatoid arthritus who requires a stick for walking but is able to do gentle "clambering"(over a boat side, for example)? Kind regards, Anna
@Whitesharkvideo
@Whitesharkvideo 5 лет назад
Each operation will be slightly different regarding this, but I've seen pre-teens on these trips. SCUBA is not involved therefore any SCUBA restrictions would not apply. This would really come down to the parent/guardian being willing to pay for the youth to come along on the trip and be comfortable with any implied risks. The staff assists people into the cages...but you would need enough physical ability to carry the anti-buoyancy weight harness on your shoulders and be able to bend your knees and climb a little bit into the cage. There's always the option of strictly observing from topside, which is actually a great view too.

It is standard for the trip leader to request tips for the boat crew at the the end of the trip, usually placed in anonymous envelopes.

What's the traffic like? I saw a few other operators in the background during the video. Assuming they are trying to attract sharks as well, is that an issue?
@Whitesharkvideo
@Whitesharkvideo 2 года назад
Guadalupe is a very large island, the boats are the most spaced out of any white shark dive location on the planet. But the boats are all hiding on the same "calm weather" side of the island so you can see the other boats in the background. You don't get bothered by boat traffic. Car traffic could be an issue if you don't time the border crossing well.

Cost for the shark dive package? And which operator have you selected and found best? The name of the operator which is shown in this vedio! Thank you in advance Regards Nehrin

I'll be sailing North back to the US in the fall of next year from Central America. Would it be possible to meet one of the shark dive boats, while they are at the island, with me arriving on my own boat?
@Whitesharkvideo
@Whitesharkvideo 4 года назад
That's an interesting question, actually! The island is in a national park of Mexico so you probably need to get a permit somewhere along the way to enter the waters or at least be prepared to be inspected (hard to say if that would actually happen). Each cage diver business operator might react to this idea differently so I'm curious what they would say to you.

Price
@Whitesharkvideo
@Whitesharkvideo 5 лет назад
Yeah, I chose to leave that out since the price fluctuates so much. There are so many operators now with different levels of luxury boats available that the price range is pretty extreme. Heard of the Bel Amie? It's ridiculous. There's a rumor of people being flown out there next year via small, water landing planes, catering to the super rich people who will stay on the Bel Amie. I don't know how landing planes out there falls under current acceptable regulations except to say that the owner is friends with the VP of Mexico. Some trips also crank up the price if they are going to have a "celebrity" from Shark Week or something like that on board
@The-GreenHornet
@The-GreenHornet 4 года назад
@@Whitesharkvideo Sounds pretty scandalous regarding operators and what they try to charge. Anotherwards it's not really a fair price, regarding how much profit margin they can get. Yes, I realize things cost money, that's not the point. Just like car salesman...the cost of the car is so much. Then the car dealership, as well as the salesman, jack up the cost way beyond what is truly a fair price. Do you honestly think that each person cost half the price that they are paying for food and drinks for 5 days, while the other half is profit? So...$3,000+ × how many people.. 10? Are the customers paying for the crew's expenses, that is factored in to the cost? And this video said that you only get 2 1/2 days of the experience with the actual sharks. I'm sure fuel for the boat is a lot cheaper in Mexico than in San Diego too. Just my speculative opinion.
@jb8331
@jb8331 2 года назад
@@The-GreenHornet I've been on the Belle Amie although not by private plane and I'm nowhere near super rich, lol. I imagine a large percentage goes to profit considering most operators also require you to pay both a park and port fee up front that depending on the operator is not necessarily including in the original price. Not to mention that the crew typically makes money off of gratuities, which are also not included in the price. The Bel Amie starts diving sunrise - sunset the first two days and 6am to I think 2 or 3pm the last day - so it's not technically 3 full days but they let you know this ahead of time and it doesn't feel like you're getting ripped off. You see plenty of sharks during the trip. Some operators include alcohol in the price of the trip, others give you a tab on the last day. Honestly, if you have the money and time off, it's still more than worth it in my opinion.

You see something that's been around countless years. I was almost at one of the many peaks in a private surfing "hobbie" starting on single fins at 13 a few years later the answer to riding 6-8ft Swami's on 6'6" boards single fin, thrusters & at 6'4 the game was on. My point is over 20 yrs the sharks were always there from So Cal to San Miguel not a bite. My point with over population worldwide now the occasional attacks happen, please leave them alone.. The more you push it endangered species will be gone. We have enough video to educate the world, dry off & leave them alone. Someone gets eaten whole? U didn't belong in there yard..slight payback or if your looped? Karma.....leave them all alone....please...:)
