I retired 2 months before Covid and discovered Cagney and Lacey. They helped "save" me during lock-down! Admired the show, the stars and the entire cast!
Hier kann ich zustimmen. Mit den Beiden kam ich auch über die Covid Zeit. Und ich stellte fest, dass Cagney und Lacey für mich die beste Serie aller Zeiten ist
Mary-Beth Lacey is one of the nicest women ever portrayed on TV - extraordinary kindness, consideration, tenacity, honesty and in essence, confidence. Just watched four seasons of this thing back to back and am blown away by Mary-Beth and therefore Tyne.
I never missed an episode of Cagney and Lacey. One of my all time favourite shows, from the theme tune, which I have to this day as my ringtone on my phone, to the characters Mary Beth, Christine, Harvey, Charlie and Lt. Bert Samuels. Excellent tv series.
One of the greatest television series of all time. Way way ahead of it's time. I remember to this day when the show was saved and the anticipation of Sharon Gless comming on board. But when the new theme tune hit my ears, wow what a theme tune. Winner in every sense and yes magic is the word. Magic casting, not just the leads but the ensemble casting as well. The music is so so so important. Lighting in a bottle.
I love this interview, these two Legendary Hollywood Classy performers Were OUTSTANDING as Cagney and Lacey, They had a uniqueness in their roles and great chemistry together, when you have a BRILLIANT Executive Director, two OUTSTANDING Hollywood Superstars with Incredible talent, great Supporting cast, you already have an ultimate WINNER. Cagney and Lacey will FOREVER be part of television history, long Live Cagney and Lacey FOREVER.
Tyne Daly and Sharon Gless had terrific chemistry in the show, and the rest of the ensemble cast was excellent, too. At a time when the theme music accompanying a show's opening credits was seen as a critical component of the show, Cagney & Lacey's was among the best. Does anyone remember Sharon Gless's cameo appearance in Judging Amy, Daly's last TV show? In a nifty piece of dialogue, Daly said to Gless "You never write, you never call," an obvious shout-out to fans of C & L.
Watching in 3/2021 on Smart TV!! I was 25 when the series started now going on 64 and the actresses and show itself still tugs at my heart. Thank you all.
I love this interview and as someone who has several female and male relatives who are now retired...I can say they told me this was very accurate and not too overtly dramatized. ALL of them were NYPD... including brass. 😉💜😎
Damn,I miss this .Its great to both ladies together to discuss such a iconic 80's show. It would have been good if the other cast members were there too.
They may not have realized the chemistry between each other, but you can see it when watching cagney and lace...I've watched the movie and season 1 and Loretta Swit and Meg Foster didn't seem to have the same on screen chemistry with Tyne Daly like Sharon Gless did.
thanks for this :)/ i loved this show, very interesting too to learn the specific and deliberate gender politics behind it all (of which i am very supportive)// though on watching it: i still prefer to dive into the good drama and rich character portrayals than think about the machine behind it !!!
It is interesting that the chemistry between the two actresses was palpable and so strong that I don’t remember the press ever doing their usual thing setting up two women as rivals and even enemies.
they skirted over it - i think - because it was too complicated to get into in the brief period of time - If they talk about her without her there to speak for herself, it would have been in bad form
After witnessing Barney at various C&L events and hearing him speak about Sharon when asked a question about her, his face would light up like a Christmas tree. It was obvious to me (but unknown to him at the time) he was falling in love with her long before they had an affair. I'm thrilled they later married. Please don't judge them poorly. After seeing Barney & Barbara Corday (his former wife) together, I don’t believe Sharon was the reason for Barney’s breakup of his former marriage.
Beautiful this pretty Cagney and Lacey Tyne Daly, Sharon Gless with many more love you Anabela Malhou Deaf...?? See how much you need to get become l what needs everything you women speeches wish you had everything else to say friends.
Why? They should switch seats, and Sharon should sit next to her husband. odd seating arrangement. you think. Sharon and Tyne, always wear the same clothes. Why?
The haircut and big glasses look horrible on Sharon Gless.😳... She looks like Sally Jessy Raphael. Not saying S.J.R. isn't a pretty woman, just kinda sad to see this change in S.G.
I wonder why they didn't mention Meg Foster who played Cagney in the first few episodes before Sharon Gless came onboard. Although I read they got rid of her because Tyne and Meg looked too much like butch lesbians and they wanted someone more feminine. That's probably why they didn't bring that up.
