We are platinum NCL cruisers & always live dining at Cagney’s. Absolutely worth it & never had a bad meal. In fact we rarely eat in MDRS. We will be on the Breakaway in Nov & already have dining reservations. We are in a Haven Villa so we will as always enjoy the The Haven Restaurant & Grill. Loved your video.
We have have been to Cagney's on three Norwegian ships; the Bliss, Encore and Escape. Always a great meal. We always go for the ribeye. A couple times we have eaten there twice on the same cruise and usually get the prime rib the second trip back. I agree about that sevel layer chocolate cake, it was great! Certainly go for the dining plan on NCL. We would never use it at Margaritaville where the cover is low, use it at those more expensive places and it usually works out to a pretty good discount over paying a la cart. Thanks for the review!
Thanks for sharing your experience. I know Aron would have wanted to go to Cagney’s more than once :) We thought long and hard our the dinning plan but our cruise wasn’t long enough and we wanted to try lots of different places. Next time we cruise NcL.
I had no desire to pay extra for meals when the food at Manhatten, Savor and Taste were so good and the surroundings just as beautiful. There were so many great choices I had to get 2 apps, 2 entrees and 2 deserts every night.
As good as the MDR is Cagney's and La Cucina are great places to dine. Teppenyaki and the Brazilian one are good as well but Cagney's is my favorite and La Cucina is my wife's. La Cucina has a great Filet as well.
Was on the Joy for panama canal trip for 14 days. Cagney was great paid extra but it was great. The rest of the cruise was awful. The food was gross the ship has something against hot food. If you are going on NCL hope your experience is better. We were with a group 54 people and we had several get togethers will on the ship and almost to a person the complaint was the food. The ship is beautiful
Yes the ship is beautiful. We agree the specialty restaurant quality was a lot better. Our cruise was only 7 days. I would guess after 14 days the quality could get a little tiresome. Thanks for watching and commenting
Hey you two! Thanks for the info on Cagney's. I'm booked solo cabin on NCL's Encore for Alaska May 7-14th 2023. A ways away but I'm jazzed! I got the specialty dining package for 2 nights. I'll use one night at Cagney's. The other for Teppanyaki! With that package I got, how does it work? Can I order anything on their menus? Or am I limited to certain items on the menus? This is my first cruise, so it's all new to me! Can you help? Thanks!
Hi, sorry the people that posted this video didn't reply to you. Anyways, with the dining package on a 7 day cruise you get 2 specialty dining meals included. With each one, you get as many sides and apps as you want, and 1 entre. Anything else and you'll pay for it. Also, you may pay an extra fee for some places, like the seafood restaurant.
@@dr.dookiestein7205 so on the menu some items have an upcharge like the tomahawk so its listed as $75 but you get a $30 dining package supplement credit so you pay $45 i was a little pissed off by this because its a little misleading
I was very underwhelmed with the sides at cagney's.. the proteins we had: steak, lamb, and the pork were great. The sides had flavor for the most part.. mac and cheese very good, BUT the sides were just barely warmer than room temp! The baked potato couldn't even melt the butter.
Went on the Getaway last March, major disappointment. Same with the Brazilian restaurant. Highlights for us were the Italian and French restaurants. Hibachi and Ocean Blue were okay.
Good video but...... Every time we have been to cagneys on NCL we have had to pay the speciality dining charge of $30 per person for our entire meals. Did you have to pay separately for everything like a la carte? as if so that's outrageous or is a la cart at cagneys just another option (albeit expensive!! ) should you not want a speciality dining package 🤔
Cagney's is per-item a la carte, however you may be interested in the ultimate dining package www.ncl.com/ca/en/onboard-packages/dining-packages which makes it more of a single cost. Hope that helps Phil and thanks for the question. Happy Travels 🦩
@@TravelingFlamingo yes it does help thank you. I've been to cagneys on NCL about a dozen times but paid a set $25-30 per person each time we went. I was afraid that they'd changed it to "only" a la carte!!!
2 meal specialty dinning is much more money now ii no 2021. We got 2 meals free with our room and paid tips and taxes of $15.80, but to add 2 more dinners was about $95.00 so 4 dinners was about $110.

2 meals in Specialty dinning pkg is now $106 plus gratuities in 2022! On my 2023 cruise NCL is only giving one free at sea specialty dinner, but as an upgrade you can get 2 added specialty dinners for only $70 plus gratuities and taxes!
Norwegian really pissed me off with their specialty dining packages when they started charging at the end of last year and upgrade for Cagney's and many of their other restaurants for example it is now $19 additional upgrade for getting the surf and turf when he used to be completely free and 7 to $12 for upgrades on crab cakes and other items it again used to be free it's nothing more than a money grab from Norwegian Cruise Line on their specialty dining packages that are not so special anymore it's completely a money grab and a way to give the middle finger to the customer by providing Les and charging you more I also heard that at the free at Sea offer is now going from 3 specialty packages or dining experiences the two again another way that NCL is screwing their customers it's just enough to piss off your most loyal customers to go somewhere else me being one of them I think I'm going to Royal Caribbean
Definitely agree with you on this, NCL really is trying to get every penny out of their customers these days and it really leaves a bad taste in the customers mouth. Thanks for commenting & watching!
Be aware if you’ve purchased the specialty dining package it’s not special anymore Cagney’s as well as several other specialty restaurants and added supplements for example $19 for surf and turf when before in the specialty dining package it was free and additional five dollars for the lump crab cake as well as the jumbo shrimp it’s a rip off and I will no longer buy their specialty packages
Aww it isn’t special anymore. Darn that is really good to know. I would be disappointed if I arrived at a restaurant after purchasing a dining package to find out there are additional charges
Jesus $37 for chops on top of your cruise price, that’s extortionate! Wouldn’t pay that for chops on land? Why would u spend that when food is free?? Doesn’t make sense to me
Traveling Flamingo Good for yous, just think the price is outrageous, I’ve gotten steaks in USA plenty of times for the 4 of us for far cheaper than that and without paying a massive cover charge for free food, just my opinion but when your already paying for free food think $37 a head is very high. But each to their own enjoy.
