Short Cairn Terrier description:
Cairn Terrier is a small dog with compact body. They should be between 9-13 inches tall which is 23-33 cm and their weight should be between 13-18 pounds which is 6-8 kg.
Cairn Terriers are barkers. Especially if they are bored. They will bark when something suspicious is going on around the house, when they want your attention or when they found something interesting and want to show you.

I have 4 cairns and I full time rv. They love to travel and 2 were trained as therapy dogs along as one being my service dog.

I had a Cairn Terrier from a puppy for 15 years, he had a huge inoperable tumor, had to put him to sleep on December 13, 2022, I couldn't stop crying, I still cry, he was such a smart, funny, obedient little guy, his name was Max, Patty

Our boy is 1yr old this December, he has more energy than the sun! He is a real friend to me, the funniest character on 4 legs, this boy has so much love to share, his life’s ambition is to play, give them that, you have a sole mate.

Love Cairn's!!!! My families Carin was a "foundling", he came to the house during a violent rainstorm and we looked and advertised that we had a lost dog. After a month of advertising and notifying all the local vets he decided he was ours. We named him Julio, his half Afghan brother was named Romeo, also a foundling. He was super smart and everything you mentioned was true. Since both LOVED to escape the house (and not listen to us humans) they would run around the small town we lived in for a couple of hours then return home. My parents would try and chase them but to no avail. He lived a very long life 17 years and was like all of our pets loved, spoiled and pampered. Great video.

@@Rocadog My family has always had dogs of many different breeds and mixes. My family has had at least 30 different dogs since I was born in 1948. No more than 3 at a time though since many were larger breeds/mixes. My parents were dog and cat lovers. We had 8 pets, 3 dogs and 5 cats during the 1980/1990's. All were well loved and all lived indoors. They were family, and very spoiled. I currently have as you know a spoiled Rough Collie and spoiled cat.

@@jilledmondson6894 Its amazing, that you were all your life around dogs. Of course i know about poppy jo :) Did you ever had a problem with dogs and cats living together? How do you teach them to be okay with each other? I had a Boxer when i was a kid and from what i remember, it would be impossible to have a cat when he was living with us.

@@Rocadog They all got along extremely well. No problems with either species living together. In fact most got along so well that they curled up with each other sleeping. Our English Bull Dog and our Siamese cat played a game by chasing each other. The cat would hide behind a door and stay there until the dog walked into the room and would then jump out, arch his back, hiss, then take off looking back for the dog. Then chaos would ensue for a few minutes until the dog got tired. After the dog laid down the cat would come over and then groom the dog. They were best friends. Our half Afghan and one of the cats were also very close and affectionate with each other. Poppy Jo just ignores the cat and the cat also ignores her. I do not remember any of our pets have any problems. I just remember my parents talking to both cats and dogs constantly telling them that they "had to be nice and good to each other". They actually understood the message like little children understand.

BEST DOG EVER!!!!! I’ve had Cairns for 50 years. This breed is fun and can be trained to be a very attentive and obedient dog. Love this breed

They are so cute! There are a LOT of them in my nearest city. Many people in that city have a very outdoorsy lifestyle in their free time in nearby forrests and countryside, but they have small homes.

Had three of these wonderful companions. They are a lovely, funny and high-spirited dog breed. Such a shame these days that because of internet trends, people can't see beyond pugs and cockapoos!

I have a cairn terrier whose 9 and a Sheepadoodle whose 2. The pair love playing. When my cairn barks, it’s usually at my other dog, and she knows that he [the terrier] is the boss. She watches him eat. And he watches her eat. When he wants to play he barks at her, and jumps at her. Pro tip, sheepadoodle + cairn terrier = hours of entertainment

My Cairn Terrier Angel was almost 16 and a half. She passed 8 months ago and I am heart broken. I still have Toto though he's 13.

I think I have a Carin terrier but I'm not sure because of the way his faces and stuff but his hair is really wiry. But I think he's mixed with Chihuahua. Also he's absolutely adorable. I got him from the SPCA. His name is Tanner

I had 3 Cairns in my lifetime. All are gone now and I have a cat (don't tell the Cairns). My Toto, yes her name was Toto, was a direct descendant of Redletter McRuffie. She won every show she was taken to. She was a spectacular wheaten color. I miss her still after 30 plus years. If anyone is considering a breed, I heartily recommend a Cairn. They will love you always. Of course, you will have to put up with a bit of madness now and then!!

All the small Scottish Terriers are "cousins" and related together. This include Westies, Cairn, but also Scottish, Skye and Dandie Dinmont Terrier 👍
