Not to worry... you've got lots of company. I'm a 71 year old guy, never watched a whole WNBA game prior to this year with Caitlin Clark... and now I'm addicted. Her growth and improvement is near staggering considering her first couple games. For example, she's had a problem with turnovers and that's not good for a Point Guard. Last night? 2.
It's about time ESPN did this type of piece on Caitlin. She's that good. She's got a lot of growth and improvement to do, but she's improved a lot and she's special as a talent.
@@dadillonful Yes, she has to expand how she scores to pull up midrange shots. She could benefit from floaters at the rim and finishing with her left hand. In terms of ball handling, she has some slick behind the back moves but when crowded is more susceptible to being stripped so a more secure ball handle with crossovers will benefit her. Defensively she tends to wander and that leaves her man open. These sort of things will bring Caitlin to the next level.
I don’t care if she’s white, black, blue or purple, Caitlyn Clark is absolutely incredible. What’s crazy is that this is only her rookie season just imagine how phenomenal she will be in the coming years y’all this woman is a baller 💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥
Stop it you know it's just because she is white dislike people who say they don't see color. Some Rob your home and you saw them what you going to say oh he had no color. Or you driving how you going to stop or go at the traffic lights
@@Qaulimehh, im black and i love her game. pretty simple, you are among the minority of dense minded niggas who cant dissociate race from sports i feel bad for you though. missing out on some amazing basketball simply because your a bigot 😂😂😂😂
At first, I thought CC would have a terrible rookie season, but I didn't write her off. Even LeBron struggled as a rookie, and look at what he became afterwards. ESPN chooses to be shortsighted because it creates more drama and boosts ratings.
My favorite thing about CC is that I don't think she's an Advance Stat person. She's just reading the field in her shooting it reminds me of Steph Curry, but her passing and reads remind me of Luka Doncic. I can't wait till she gets fully comfortable and adding some more to the depth in the bench will make her dangerous.
@@QaulimI don’t get Jokic vibes at all. I’m sure zbennalley meant exactly what was typed since Jokic is a center and Luka a point/shooting guard. No, not all white people look alike. Stop hate. You can do better than this. 🌍✌️🫡
She's not a Luka type passer or a Joker type passer. She's a Steve Nash type passer. She plays at a much higher rate of speed than brilliant but slow-footed passers like Luka and Jokic.
@jeaniekim9951 No, @qaulim is right. I meant Jokic, and you're right. Not all white people look alike, but all European do. That was a joke. I hope that got a chuckle lol 😃
@@Willworld. She is hands down the most valuable player. Her presence is literally making hundreds of millions for the ladies in the W. And the owners may actually break even.
Remember, Caitlen may not be playing at her fullest potential. She sustained a ruptured ear drum during the Fever's games against the New Liberty in June 2nd. which caused vertigo and dizziness taking weeks to a few months to completely heal. I can't wait to see her effortly launch 3 point shots when the Fever returns after the Olympics.
They are feeling the heat and there is now a huge drop in popularity for the ESPN pundits and they have seen a loss in followers online. I plan to continue that loss until they get things right across the network. I don't need "Caitlin love" from them. I just want FAIR reporting in context of real performances around the league. But the bias continues and until then, they are likely to keep losing support and viewers. I only wish there was competition for the broadcasting of the games, but we are stuck with ESPN. They'd be in bigger trouble if there was an option to watch the Indiana games elsewhere than ESPN.
I really don’t think people understand… 80% of wnba watchers are here because of Caitlin lol like no cap . And yes the brinks and Angel Reese’s are nice .. and Aja and Vegas and Sabrina and New York.. we follow all of those story lines just to make the person we really are following that much more interesting… which is Caitlin . She is different ….there will be another Angel Reese and Aja and brink .. there will never be another Caitlin Clark, And that’s just facts …
They said she can only make 3s. She is just proving them wrong. Keep saying whatever you want. She will show you that she is that and a little bit more. They woke the monster!!!!
Honestly, her threes haven't even been falling! And look at what she's doing. Saying that she only makes threes has been the most idiotic comment I've ever heard.
@@jennahawk12 I fully expect those to come back to at least normal percentages after she gets some time to rest her legs for the first time in like 6+ months.
@@robertdouth8979 100%. Her three-point percentage will eventually be back to where it is. It's all about shot selection and adjusting to all the commentary and pressure. Once her three-pointers start falling, she could arguably be right up there with Wilson as the best player in the league. I've been following her from the beginning and believe me, she had naysayers, doubters since like 8th grade. So it eventually gets old and you know that she will truly be great no matter what they say.
I posted this as a reply to someone deep in a thread but while Angel Reese is a really solid and gifted player, other teams don't devote their entire defensive game plan to stopping her. What gets missed by so many analysts and fans is Caitlin is putting up record numbers DESPITE playing against the most stringent defense any WNBA player has faced to date. Other teams guard her end to end all game long. Taurasi, Bird, Miller, etc. never faced that level of defense every game in a season. This takes nothing away from their accomplishments or the great stuff that Angel is doing on the defensive glass - it's only to recognize what we're seeing with Clark is genuinely historic. No different than the impact Tiger, Gretzky and Jordan had on their sports from their first year on. Enjoy the show.
I'd agree that she is a solid player. But "gifted"? I don't see that at all and that's without bias. Her game is essentially played within 7 feet around the rim. She doesn't run well and her defense is good but nothing "outstanding". Her blocks aren't that great either. She's a solid rebounder and her putbacks... it's a reach to say she is exceptional or even barely average with her put back rate and many missed follow ups.
@@MJ-uf9tl We have to fairly judge her game in context though - she's only 24 games into her career and already having a substantive impact. She too came mostly straight off a long college season without a break. Imagine how her game will continue to evolve with rest and a real offseason of professional coaching. I give her the edge on gifted for now given what she's done so far.
Too bad they can't take advantage of the trade right now and make some moves to prep for next season. Indiana is moving beyond the skillset of their existing players. We keep Boston, Katie Lou, Kelsey, Dantas, Nalyssa, Temi and Lexi (although they all looked like some ish last night! LOL), clear the rest out and start building the team around CC, Boston and Mitchell w/ trades and possible draft pick options. That trio is outgrowing their team VERY fast and if they want to be real chip contenders, which they can be, they need to build around that trio for next season!
Curious, what do you think she needs to work on herself? I constantly hear it's her team and coaches that need hella work, but almost never hear about what CC needs to work on herself.
Definitely on her turnovers and hopefully spends some time in the gym in her off month, trying to get her 3 ball shot back in line. She needs to work on decision making for herself just a bit! She’s had sooo many open looks where she chooses to pass off when she should have taken the shot. She’s such an unselfish player and wants the win over stats which I love about her, but sometimes she HAS to take the shot!
@@HeatherMeade I think her 3's are off because her legs are fatigued from 10 months of basketball without a real break. After the Olympic break, I think she's going to light it up!
@@mitchthompson8106 Neither, of course. It's because she's a scorer with incredible court vision and passing ability. But you knew that. But as a Prada-wearer wannabe yourself, you had to say it.

Bro if she keeps playing like this she's gotta be in talks for MVP. Forget Rookie of the Year. That's hers. We talking bout MVP. Obviously Aja is the MVP but somebody gotta see what i see. Ain't no more valuable player to a franchise and to wnba enterprise than Caitlin Clark is to the fever and the exponential growth of the wnba.
@@natureredux1957 sometimes its good to pay attention in reading class. I never compared her to wilson. Wilson is the mvp. Your reading comprehension -100

If Candace parker was able to win BOTH ROOKIE OF THE YEAR & MVP awards in her rookie season then Caitlin Clark the monster deserve the same respect on her name
Clark finally became consistent and figured out how to thrive doing great now. She definitely got rookie of the year without a doubt. But MVP, definitely not over Wilson. Thomas is second and Collier would have been 2nd if she didn’t get injured. Wilson is the best offensive player and defensive player in the whole league. She’s unguardable, can lock down defenders, and protect the paint. Number one in points averaging one point from 30 a game, number 2 in rebounds, number 4 in steals, and number one in blocks. 2 time champion, 1 finals mvp, 2 season mvp’s, 2 defensive player of the year for the last years, and now a 6 time all star. Aja is playing the best anyone has ever played in overall women’s basketball in a season, and it’s a case for basketball in general. The crazy thing is, Wilson gets better every year.
@@rcud1 seems like it wouldn't be that difficult. Start the Wnba season later Instead of sending the rookies straight from college to playing in the Wnba 3 weeks later.
By the end of the year, even if she has a slight dip, she has to be top 3 in MVP debate. It’s a season almost unlike any other. And we’re barely over half way. Bonkers.
This is what CC needs to do to win the MVP, I think she needs to average 20 pts, 10 asts. Fever should be above .500 & finish the season at #6 seed. She also needs to lower her turnovers, average of 4 is better. I think I would have to pray that Angel Reese lead the rebounds again 😅 coz Aja is currently leading in pts, rebs, & blks. If this is going to happen I think CC has a better storyline than Aja.
@@LuKaa316 look at NBA leaders in turnovers. Season and all time. Magic. Luka. All the greats. They were and are the leaders in assists. Agree that CC is behind Aja. For CC to overtake Aja, it’ll be an increase in scoring. Her scoring hasn’t been as prolific as in college because she isn’t hitting her 3s as consistently. But if her 3 is really the thing she can do most to propel her into Aja territory, she’s got a shot. Her upside is off the charts.
Clark ALWAYS has people draped all over her during these games and despite that she STILL puts up these historic numbers . She's truly a once in a generation type talent , scariest part is she's going to get a lot better .
Cardoso doesn't have the motor and athleticism to sustain her efforts. She has good quarters, but by the time the game is over, she didn't do much else from her one good stretch. She has a lot of potential, but she's got work to do.
@@SirButtahthis makes zero sense. She doesn't get the play time. You don't understand basketball lol can't be barely getting rotated in & expect greatness
I'm 54 year old Canadian and seen many greats live in all sports. She is in my top 5 for sure. I've been so lucky to see Marino,Gretzky,Neely, Mario, Elway, Montana, Curry, Dame, D Ortiz, Pedro, J Kelly, S Young and Caitlin. You know what maybe my first
Caitlin is now the best point guard and one of the top 5 to top 7 players overall in the league. If two-time MVP A'ja Wilson wasn't balling out of her gourd again, Caitlin would be emerging as a legitimate MVP candidate. And yet there are still people pushing Angel Reese for ROY. Reese isn't even one of the top 10 frontcourt players.
its a great time and era for the W. They needed a spark and elite draft picks to add more energy and interest in the league. Its only the beginning, excited for the future
47 yo old male. Love the big 4 sports. Kinda knew a bit about wnba until this year thanks to CC. Now I know all the teams! Lol She does things that most cant, in the leage. Once she gets settled and Indiana builds a proper team around her and Boston, she will start racking MVPS🎉.
I won't return until they get rid of a few of the worst who were the source of all the chaos and hatred. It started with ESPN with the SA Smith and McNutt confrontation. That was the source and got things rolling. ESPN has payed dearly for it and my exodus and enjoyment of all the smaller sub-tubers who are positive and realistic is much more fun and rewarding - AND knowledgeable about the game!! :)
The way Ryan Ruco was saying "no one will pass Aja period its not up for grabs" just sounds weird. You never know what can happen over the course of a season, her production could fall off, she could get hurt, you never know what the future holds.
In the month of July, CC is averaging 20 pts, 6.3 reb, 12.5 assists on 43% shooting, which is solid efficiency for a WNBA guard. The Fever are in the playoff hunt and are being led by a rookie. CC should be the ROTY favorite.
clark the GOAT in year 1? i mean CC leading the league in assists is like victor leading the nba in blocks as an rookie. The results speak for themself, watched more WNBA games this year than entire life.
@@QGOD44 Then why do negative comments about Clark always involve race? Sheryl Swoopes saying she was defending "her people" by lying about Clark's age and stats, Reese saying she plays for "girls who look like her", Serena Williams making inappropriate comments about "white people" liking Clark, Aja Wilson saying her popularity is because she is white, RU-vid commenters calling her "white girl" or "GWH." If the situation were flipped and CC were black everyone would call it racism. If it's racist to do it to a black person, then it's racist to do it to any person.
That is total BS. Folks of all races have been totally supporting WNBA players of all colors since it's inception. Cleary you are a BLANK. That much is crystal clear.
She could be mvp shattering records for 1 and she brought the eyes to the league anyone denying that check the top ten most watched games she got all ten!!!!!!
CC is definitely putting up impressive assist totals and the Fever are much better than last year. But before we crown her queen. Aja Wilson is still the best player in the WNBA and she's still young and getting better. Not to mention surrounded by other good players. The New York Liberty and the Connecticut 🌞 who happens to be in the same division as the Fever aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Also there's a lot of young talent on the horizon that will be in the WNBA soon. Paige Bueckers was on the same trajectory as CC but injuries derailed her. Ju Ju Watkins is definitely on the path to greatness if she can avoid a major injury. If should be interesting after the Olympic break!
100% agree and I can't wait to see what Paige brings next year and JuJu later on! Even Kiki Rice (don't sleep on her!) if she can keep herself healthy. Gonna be some great draft classes coming into the Dub. Gonna be awesome to see how they push the vets (to include CC) and in turn, how the vets HOPEFULLY mentor them to make them greater!
Tell me about when you played for Naismith...ha-ha! I'm 63, I simply didn't even think of the WNBA, I mean not even in my conscious. I've watched, as well as won/lost a fortune on round-ball, but neither cared, watched or paid attention to not only the WNBA, but NCAA (yeah, I followed the W's NCAA champ game UCON, Tenn, Stanford for all those years...yawn) women's ball. Now I do care, but only about 1 player (if I keep watching it will 5-10 players I'll follow) and the games she is in.
The league hasn't caught up to Caitlin Clark. She is Elite. So secure in who she is as a person and confident and fearless with her skills. But never takes things for granted and works very Hard.
Yes. She had ONE other Fever player across half court with her against FIVE Dallas players. She face THREE players who closed in on her and it was no surprise they stole the ball - Clark had zero place to go with it and ZERO teammates available to help as they jogged up the court when there was still time on the clock to pull the game out. It was a terrible look for her teammates.
Finally some of you are starting to see how exceptionel she is.... i am from Holland and she gives me the same feeding as Messi 20 years ago until now.... its Just special..!!
I read something yesterday that seemed pretty much spot on. The opinion was that the Caitlin hate is a way to suppress her because no one in the wnba wants her to lead or break records or have a vast base. No one wants her to sell more tickets or sell out the arenas or be the focus in the league (is it called a league in basketball?). Put it this way: her jerseys sold out immediately and the commission announced they will not put out more. (?) Great way to make $ for those chartered flights, I'd say. Does she have even one protector? Nope, the team really isn't, is it. I'd bet anything that if one of her teammates was being treated like she's being treated, she would be by her side saying - don't fk with us. Because everyone from the very top down has her isolated so they can break her, so she becomes invisible for a few years. You don't try to dummy down CC. Its not possible. Everyone should be fired. They are not only not doing their jobs, they are trying to sabotage her. I want to see them refuse the billions for tv rights to their games. Then fire them from the top of the hierarchy down to the coaches and refs and those who are irrelevant. So there it is
the funny thing is some says that CC needs to adjust more in W's game style but it looks like the W is adjusting to her game. ROTY for sure and can be in the conversation for MVP.
Didnt know the WNBA has been around as long as it has. This year I watch it because of Clark. Exciting to watch and talks very well. There wasn't anyone even close to ROTY. Not sure why people were pushing Reese. Not even close right from the start of the season.
@@ghsense2626 well we all know she can shoot threes. She's having a bad year from 3 but that's also because she's the number one name on everyone's scouting report and that is what they're trying to stop so you take that away and she does other things at a level we never seen but sure.. whatever you say
100% right on they are playing CC’s pace and playing through her now. I know this didn’t win this game, and other on the team had pretty poor performances (mostly all the rest aside from AB, I think), but as a whole they are doing so much better acclimating to CC’s game instead of making her fit them. A lot of us CC fans were taking heat early in the season for saying they need to play HER game. “This isn’t Iowa anymore” was a big response from the other side of the argument. We know it’s not Iowa, but I can tell you we are watching because CC makes the game dynamic and fun to watch! So if you want to keep all these new eyes, play it CC’s way!
@@boxingandbulldogs6341 Let us not disrespect Steve Nash like that. The dude WAS "7 seconds or less", he was, perhaps, the perfect guy to play point guard that way, those mid-'00s Suns teams are lottery teams without him. Caitlin likes playing fast-tempo & she's excelled at making plays for her teammates, just like Nash did. And also, they both excelled in soccer when they were younger, which helped develop their court vision. Caitlin is just more willing to shoot than Nash was.
@@philipdawson7800 I'm not disrespecting Nash at all. I was a fan of his. But that system was limited in that it needed specific pieces (athletic, talented big men) and it never stood a chance in the post season when things slow down and defenses can game plan. I think Caitlin has a higher upside than Nash.
@@boxingandbulldogs6341 I think that system was ahead of it's time. Even in the playoffs nowadays, the game is a lot more free-flowing than it was in the mid-'00s, so a team like Phoenix could have done a lot of damage during this current era (I think they were better than the Phoenix team that did make the finals in 2021). Does Caitlin have a higher upside than Nash?? Maybe, I think her handling is a bit better & she has deeper range from 3. I'm just saying, maybe it's my nostalgia kicking in, but I consider Steve Nash perhaps the greatest NBA player to never play in the NBA finals, so a comparison like that is a HIGH bar for someone like Caitlin.
