It's 2 different answers; because it was 2 different questions... The first question was basically about how she deals with the outside noise from this season. Her reply was she doesn't hear it, because she doesn't participate in those platforms. For the second question, he directly asked her what she thinks about people possibly promoting racism and misogyny using her name. Her reply she doesn't condone it and she also recognized others in the WNBA. As for Carrington, it's possible everyone is not living their life through social media. Larry isn't a good example because he had magic to balance it out. Caitlyn Clark is on her own and to this point her game hasn't backed up all the attention she's garnered. Because of that even if she becomes the wnba version of steph its going to be near impossible to convert them to fans of the women's game as a whole.What's worse is that she cant denounce the people who say coded stuff like "caitlin is a class act, unfortunately most of the wnba aren't classy like her" because those are the ones that will support her regret of how she plays.

The pressure to be an activist can be overwhelming, especially for a young athlete like Caitlin Clark who is already navigating the intense demands of her sport. By placing this additional expectation on her, we're asking her to shoulder a burden that she may not be prepared for or interested in taking on. It's also unrealistic to expect all athletes, regardless of their age or experience, to be well-versed in social issues and equipped to speak out about them. While some may feel comfortable taking on this role, it's not a fair expectation to place on everyone, especially those who are still early in their careers. Placing these expectations on young athletes can also have a negative impact on their mental health and well-being, as they may feel guilty or inadequate if they don't meet these expectations.
@KClouisville
@KClouisville 10 дней назад
Because it's a childish view in regards to her....the "face of the league" stuff pertains to how she can play basketball...whether she will rightfully take on that role or not remains to be seen. But the rest of it is just people projecting things on to her....she has no control over that stuff. She's paid to play basketball. As for "responsibility" they just gave an example of someone who had great power....Jordan...he was the face of his league and WAY more over as far as media coverage at the time (mostly pre-Internet days) than Clark...and he hardly ever spoke out on anything socio-political.

The W is over 60% LGBTQ. And 90 Black women. No problem with that. But damn, can she just get her game on for more than the 5 minutes that she's been in the league? Does she have to get up in her feels immediately, like half of the league? What about asking her some basketball-related questions? All of the women who supported the Team USA selections, everyone of them spouting, "it's just about the integrity of the game is why she wasn't selected." Oh, that doesn't apply here. The problem Broussard and alot of media pundits are missing is Trotter asked an intentionally vague question. He never said what was being said in he name was racist and sexist. So she responded in a not descriptive or active way. Cause he didn't say what it was. The second question was ,ore direct and she condemned anything like that. Cmon u guys are journalist

Great show! I hear you all, it's weird energy. I'm a basketball lover originally from Iowa, love Caitlin's game because of the Steph Curry effect. Honestly, I think what first stoked the weird energy surrounding the Caitlin Clark narrative was after Iowa beat South Carolina in 2023, Dawn Staley misrepresented coach Lisa Bluder's words after Bluder said it was like a tough barfight out there, referring to the physicality of the game. Staley came in and used an entire press conference to say that "we aren't criminals or monkeys," which was an unfair interpretation. Then the whole narrative turned sideways even before the LSU game, and remains sideways today. That's not what Bluder was saying. That's not who she is. She probably should have been more careful with her words, understanding that such words might give off interpretations about undertones. But that's when some Iowa fans took issue with that fact that people were all the sudden assuming Iowa is racist (which isn't fair to the large non-racist sector) and some took issue with the the race baiting. It put an unfair target on CC. Unfortunately, it also brought out the underlying racism, which is there in our country (and certainly in Iowa too), and comes out in social media. It's ugly, and it's there. I'm not sure what else to say, I wonder what people think, but that's when things turned sideway as far as I can tell. And no one talks about it.

Clark has done nothing but play ball. She's having a good season for a rookie who's the best player on her team. She's been deliberately targeted and bullied, but hasn't taken shots at anyone in the media. She was snubbed by the Olympic women's team, and she responded by saying she'd work harder. All this -- and somehow her detractors have worked and worked until THEY are the victims and her SILENCE is the crime. Her fans are the awful people -- the ones filling stadiums and the pocketbooks of the WNBA and its players. It'd be unbelievable if we hadn't seen this playbook over and over. Again, there was NEVER a way that her detractors were ever going to admit they were wrong. It's like arguing with your girlfriend and her friends. Once they locked in as a group, they were never going to back down. If we actually care about Clark, the best thing is to drop it. BUT I do hope the WNBA (and its NBA partner) have a word with coaches and players. They are cutting off their nose to spite their face.
