I have had several CZ optics milled by Primary Machine. The slides have always come back perfectly cerakoted and the optics fit perfectly as well. Great customer service and a excellent product. Could not recommend them more. I had one CZ slide done by Jagerwerks because Primary Machine didn't offer the optic cut I wanted at the time. They nitrided the slide and cut it for a 509T. They also offered great service and the slide came back perfect. Just wanted to recognize those 2 companies as great alternatives.

As a machine shop owner of more than 30 yrs, I would fire someone if they sent you your slide back with a rough finish and chips in holes. That shows that the person performing the machining doesn't take pride in their work and that reflects bad on the company.

100% agree.

And since the work was done by a CNC machine, all the operator had to do was a few minutes of hand finishing work, clean the chips, and verify thread integrity/depth. Maybe ten minutes of actual work, other than sitting on a chair watching the CNC do all the actual machining.

I'm blown away that a professional operation does run a tap down their threads after taking it off the machine. Even if they were cut properly the shavings are also unacceptable and should have been removed. They would have caught your issue too.

The metal shavings in the holes are annoying. As are the shallow holes. My experience with Cajun Works is similar; like, my firearm was vastly better but things were a little rough. I had a better experience with Langdon Tactical.

Just a future FYI. Wager Gun Works is well respected in the CZ community for their slide cuts. 7 day turnaround time nearly guaranteed everytime. Their work is amazing and people in the community and the cz sub on Reddit can’t praise them enough. I also like Cajun for their trigger jobs though. Can’t beat them.

Before this video, I thought direct mill is categorically better than plate if you don't plan to change optic. Now seeing that it requires precise milling of width and the 2 cylinders lock, I changed my mind. Great video for civilian gun owners!
@EngineersArmory
@EngineersArmory 3 месяца назад
Direct mill should be stronger in theory. Less bolted connections and fasteners. A properly done plate system wont have any issues tho either for most use cases. Either the direct milled footprint or plate should have a snug fit with the optic to transfer the recoil shear forces to the optic body and recoil lugs, not the screws. Screws are designed for axial loading, not shear.

It looks like they cut your slide for an RMR instead of the 508T. While the 2 optics do share the same mounting footprint as far as the fastener locations are concerned, the 508T is slightly smaller.
@EngineersArmory
@EngineersArmory 19 дней назад
Could very well be the case. Of course, I specified holosun 508T, and based on the quality of their machining in general I am not sure that I would have gotten a good fit with any optic. The mounting screws and recoil lugs are in the same place on the RMR and 508T, only the external dimensions are different - meaning the fit between the fences would be different. This one is so loose I know an RMR would be loose in it too. I tried - I put an RMR in there and it was still loose as shit. Due to the fences and also the recoil lug size and shape. Overall shoddy workmanship.

From what I see Cajun Gun Works is really busy and can't keep up so when that happens with a company the quality suffers. I see it all the time with other companies as well. I worked in the production business 26 years and seen it there as well when they got busy and couldn't keep up.
@EngineersArmory

Totally agree. I am a mechanical engineer and in addition to my design work I support manufacturing and production activities. When a company gets really busy, they bring on new people but dont have the bandwidth to properly train them because the experienced ones are tied up in work.

I bought a CZ-P07 from Cajun Gun Works. Had their Pro Trigger installed and milled for an RMR. I sent them the RMR. When I got it back first thing I noticed was the trigger was terrible. I have 2 Shadow2, a TS Orange, P09, and a P01. This trigger was noticeably worse than my P01. Called and talked to David. His response was ship it back and we will lighten the trigger, not what I wanted to hear. I Tried to fit a Holosun sight, supposed to have the same footprint, but would not fit. I noticed I only had 1 turn of thread engaged on the sight. I contacted David and he sent me the correct length screws. But seeing your video made me think. The dot on my RMR is in the top half of the glass, noticeably higher than center. I'm thinking that might be because it was machined on an angle. I plan on sending my P01 to Primary Machine to be milled for an optic.

I am in the market to have my CZ 75 SP01 cut for a Holosun 507 comp. Nobody local wants/can do it. I was considering having CGW put a 1911 plate, but it's a tricky cut, on the CZ's thin slide. After seeing a few iffy feedbacks on CGW, I may limit my choice to CZ Custom's RDs plate, Impact Machine's RDOM system that directly mounts the site to the slide, or Primary machine's plate that has a back site to retain BUIS.

If I'm going to have a slide cut for optics, I'd prefer it be anything other than my original slide. The fact that it's difficult/nigh-impossible to get a second slide for the P-01 makes me extremely reluctant to trust *any* service to cut it right.

Can i ask what the actual measurements were for front/rear cut depths, going to be milling my SP 01 for 407k but hard to find any info on depth, milling out rear sight to use 407 notch but want to know the ballpark
@EngineersArmory
@EngineersArmory 6 месяцев назад
The front depth is roughly .180" and the rear is roughly .150". Im still not convinced it needs to be angle forward like that. CGW told me that needs done for getting enough elevation adjustment. When I took it to the range I was hitting 1 ft high at 15 yards. I think if it was milled flat it would be fine. More than enough elevation adjustment on most optics.
@BiggestD70
@BiggestD70 6 месяцев назад
Not in the ballpark, I'm dead on, thank you much, there's 1.4 degree difference between rear to front sights on some models, (CZ forums are a wasteland) from what I could gather has to do with .550 barrels and the bushing, ?
@BiggestD70
@BiggestD70 6 месяцев назад
You are correct about angle of cut being excessive, .078in difference in 6inches front to rear, the trig comes out to around .0185-.0250(ish) more accurate numbers when I vise and indicate it, first 75 I've done and it's my favorite pistol
@silencedOak
@silencedOak 6 месяцев назад
I had my Cz P-01 milled for a vortex viper. I could not adjust the elevation enough to zero my dot. I had to get a 1 degree shim to install under my red dot. The company that milled my slide did a great job but did not mill with a degree height adjustment. So to answer your question, yes it is the way it’s done. Cz custom does it this way too.
@EngineersArmory
@EngineersArmory 6 месяцев назад
@@silencedOak Yeah it may be necessary for most dots. Based on the depth of the front and rear of the cut it ended up being around 1.5 degrees. Seems a bit excesive. Somewhere between 0.5-1.0 degrees would make more sense. I am basing that off that fact that when I went ot zero my dot I had to bring the elevation way up. I was hitting like 1 ft high at 15 yards. In any case I got it zerod so whatever haha.

Oh that’s rough. As much as I think I’d like to open a small milling company and do parts and slides I can see how difficult it could be. Sure anyone can run a Glock slide but something like a CZ is a different animal. There is a lot of variation between what customers want and a lot of opportunities for things to go sideways. It’s not like production where if the tool breaks or the tap is dull you can just scrap the part it’s a one shot deal. Im pretty leery about having slide milled anywhere and I totally would have assumed CGW could have pulled it off. If it’s any consolation the p07 slide I had done locally they just completely skipped the bosses and milled a flat deck. That said it is tight front to back. Thanks for the video!

@EngineersArmory
@EngineersArmory 3 месяца назад
I respecfully disagree. You're certainly entitled to your opinion and your own interpretation of this video. I would like to add my perspective regarding what you have commented , the content of this video, and the intent behind it. I feel I was fair to the company by allowing them to respond to my complaints about the quality of their work. They handled it very well. I was pleased with their customer service and communicated that in the video multiple times. I made sure to contact the company first, make my concerns clear, allow them to respond, then made my decision about how I wanted to proceed. Only after that did I make this video and include that information. I struggle to see how this video is "self-serving." I am not promoting my own optic milling service or the services of any company that I am affiliated with. I suppose I got some good recommendations in the comments of other companies that may offer higher quality machining work for my future reference. I do not monitize my videos nor make any money off them in any way. I am not trying to increase clicks or views with some senational or fabricated story of my experience to pad my pockets. I tried to present my experience as objectively as possible. I know bad news draws more attention in general, but I have also posted very positive optic milling service review videos. This video is a review of a service provided. Customer feedback and reviews are an integral part of consumerism. I am sharing my experience with this expensive and time intensive milling service so that it may help others decide if this service is right for them and a good use of their hard earned money. This is just like any other review of goods or services (as I see it). I would not expect or encourage anyone to base their opinion of a company on one review from one person's limited experience. However, if someone watches my video, then sees comments of people sharing a similar experience, and does more research on the company, maybe there is a pattern. I think of this video as a single data point in the larger body of reviews that come together to make an overall rating of a product or service. Thanks for watching and commenting. Your mind is likely made up about this video and thats fine. This reply probably didn't change your mind either, but I appreciate you taking the time to read this if you did.
