April 2021: I am retired here with my husband. We live in the French Quarter/New Orleans. I am a skilled seamstress, and in our storage facility we pulled recently - an ancient Cajun themed quilt, with a little guy in a pirogue, fishing. It has been damaged by time and mildew, but I used every bit of skill and love to restore it. Now it hangs on my bedroom wall, a true work of art. I was really honored to get the chance to do this. Cajun culture is unique and may disappear... well worth preserving!!

So essentially, through you wealth and gentrification, you were able to put your hand on a piece of cultural heritage that you don't deserve and decided to keep it as some kind of souvenir of a culture you're contributing to assimilate? This thing should be turn in to an acadian memory museum and not kept on some rich people's wall as a piece of deco.

Most fun I've ever had was one Saturday night that my neighbors (a good Cajun couple from Lafayette, LA) took my wife and I plus another couple to Cameroon, LA. We approached this building on stilts in the middle of nowhere. We walked up a long staircase into a huge room, lit by a single 40 watt light bulb. The room went silent. I said to my wife:"Oh shit, get behind me". I'd been in plenty of places like this as a Marine and there was only one way out. Well, our Cajun neighbors said something and we were suddenly as welcome as family. The food, the music, the fun didn't stop until 4 AM. Hated to leave; but that was one Saturday night to remember.

Ditto, born in NJ but had the good fortune to live in SE Texas and the Cajun culture crosses the Sabine River into Beaumont, Port Arthur etc. I fell in love with the Cajun food/music culture then and never outgrew it.

Wow that setting ,the musicians the music and the dancers ,just light me up like striking an old wooden match that lights a fire on a cold , indifferent day . But what really lights my emotions is the woman , so graceful and so elegant ,like a floating beautiful hummingbird. Would be nice to see her face. Beautiful. I replay this often , and it lights my fire every time... Thanks from a prairie Boy in Canada !!! Would love to see more of the same Group.
