The price we pay is steep. This song has resonated with me for a long time and likely more as time has progressed and my connection/dependence on my phone has increased. I'm sure others feel the same. What I love about this song is the addition of layers as the song moves back and forth from chorus to verse. It opens with an incredible synth backed with arpeggiation, shortly followed by the drummer who drops the beat in (perfectly) as the band goes back and forth between keys and guitar until the clap comes in at the last beat before the second chorus. The layers continue to subtly emerge throughout, which audibly can go unnoticed, but in context with the song's lyrics or message it, again, is resonating because it becomes more chaotic with more and more going on. It creates anxiety with me that I also feel when I'm so busy with life and each task becomes more and more of a burden and then the phone keeps ringing until my bubble bursts. Not sure if that was the intent or not, but that is what is great about music; it can get interpreted many ways that are all correct. What a great song.

Cake was more progressive than we knew, ahead of their time. Personally, I love this genre of music video. Coming to this after starting to date someone officially for the first time, and they keep calling and texting to no end. I’m trying to sleep or work and do errands and I think they are unaware and abuse the power of having a connection like this with smartphones and networks. I should feel blessed and I am grateful, but I’ve grown so use to isolation in my mind and life that I finally am at peace with myself and by myself. But no, I hurt their feelings if I feel them I live a life of my own and that I don’t have all the time in the world. This band has been with me since middle school and I love them dearly. The lessons they share and impart have helped me all throughout life. Every lyric seems to match what I am living exactly at the moment. Musical geniuses and wise people.

Let me explain. Since 2008, an argentinan youtuber (UltimoPlayer) used this song for the intro of "Ayuda Mundial" (or mundial help in english) a series of machinimas in Halo Reach, in south america and spain is such popular the clip of "yo quiero de lo que fuma este tipo"(i want what this dude is smoking) and it fastly turn into an hispanic meme, however, people dosn't came here only for that, the series it was really good and funny, and thats the reason why so many people from argentina(including me) came here, like nostalgic, it's for remember AYUDA MUNDIAL.. Nothing else to say ,a really big hug from gral. Rojo )
